Netflix on Tuesday morning unveiled the series regular and guest cast for the upcoming second season of its hit Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.

Of the three, only McShane is slated to reprise his Sheriff Donovan Galpin role as a guest star, likely to wrap the story of his character who was left devastated in the Season 1 finale by the discovery that his son Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was the Hyde after the sheriff shot and temporarily incapacitated the monster.

“Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
When Charles Addams was helping turn his amusing gothic New Yorker cartoons into a television series, the little girl needed a name, and he used a line from an old-time children’s poem. He’d been at the drawing board with these characters since 1938, although Gomez and Morticia’s daughter didn’t arrive until 1944. At different times, she was older or younger than her sibling, Pugsley.
Ever since her arrival, Wednesday has been a fixture, her pale skin, pig-tailed black hair, and solemn expression imprinted on future generations of Goth girls. From Lisa Loring to Christina Ricci, the live-action look has endured as the character has aged from her purported six years old in the original series pilot to 18 in the 2010 Broadway musical adaptation.

Wednesday burst onto screens in 2022, delivering a new spin on one of the Addams Family's most iconic characters.
The hit drama initially shot its first season in Romania between 2021-22, and we could not stop watching when it premiered.
Sometimes, a new series arrives on the scene that you can't stop watching. Wednesday was one of those shows.
With the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Netflix wants to get the show into production as soon as possible.
However, the series will be filming from a new location when the cameras get rolling in 2024 on Wednesday Season 2.
According to Deadline, Ireland will be the new base for the teen horror drama.

When the writers strike ended near the start of October, we heard that the top priorities at the Netflix streaming service were to get the scripts for Stranger Things season 5 (the final season of that show) and Wednesday season 2 finished. Jenna Ortega is sharing some major insight into "Wednesday" season two. Netflix announced the show had officially been renewed on Jan. 6, with a short teaser featuring footage of Ortega alongside scenes from the show and clips of fan events. The video also used Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary" as its soundtrack, a song that became associated with the show on TikTok. "The global phenomenon will return for season two," Netflix said in the clip.

"We're ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great. We're going to get bolder, more dark."

The MTV Movie & TV Awards faced a series of roadblocks this year due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. While the awards show was set to broadcast live on Sunday, it was announced that due to the strike, the network would air a pre-taped special as several attendees announced they were pulling out of the show.
“As we carefully navigate how best to deliver the fan first awards’ show we envisioned that our team has worked so hard to create, we’re pivoting away from a live event that still enables us to produce a memorable night full of exclusive sneak peaks, irreverent categories our audience has come to expect, and countless moments that will both surprise and delight as we honor the best of film and TV over the past year,” said Bruce Gillmer, president of music, music talent, programming and events at Paramount Global, and an...

Once Jenna Ortega was hard at work playing the title character on Netflix’s Addams Family series Wednesday, she became so dedicated to making sure the title character came off just right that she would even change lines from the way they were written in the scripts. But during an interview with the UK’s Times, she revealed that she initially passed on the chance to star in Wednesday.
Ortega told the Times (as reported by Deadline), “I got the email, passed on it. I had done so much TV in my life, all I’ve ever wanted to do is film. I was scared that by signing on to another television show it could prevent me from doing other jobs I really wanted and cared about.“

Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit Addams Family series Wednesday, has previously said she had to struggle with directors on the show who didn’t always trust the approach she was taking to the character. Starting with Tim Burton, who directed half of the show’s first season and didn’t want Ortega to show any expression or emotion at all. Something she didn’t feel would work for a lead character who had to push the plot forward. Now in an interview with Variety, Ortega revealed that she also had to change lines from the scripts because they weren’t true to her character.
Ortega said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on Wednesday. Everyhing that Wednesday does, everything I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all.

Jenna Ortega is the star of Netflix's hit series "Wednesday," but she's not the only actor who made a big impression on fans. Possibly the most standout performance of the series was given by Victor Dorobantu. You might not recognize Dorobantu's face, but you do know him like the back of his hand. The actor plays Wednesday's disembodied relative and closest confidante, Thing. Dorobantu may not have had a face to perform with, but he emoted so effectively with just his hand that it moved Ortega to real-life tears.
Thing is the only member of the Addams family keeping Wednesday company at Nevermore Academy. Despite Thing lacking a mouth, he is able to communicate intimately with Wednesday and other characters like her roommate Edith, with whom he forms a close friendship.

Director Tim Burton made his television directing debut by taking the helm of the first four episodes of the Netflix series Wednesday‘s eight episode first season. And when the time came to choose who would provide the music for the show, Burton went with his frequent collaborator Danny Elfman, who had also never worked in episodic TV before (aside from composing themes). Speaking with IndieWire, Elfman discussed the fact that he brought in a partner to help him face the challenge of composing the score for a TV series.
Elfman said, “I brought on a partner, Chris Bacon, to work with me because I’d never done episodic television. I was afraid that there was going to be a learning curve that was going to be kind of crushing. And it was. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, you’re dealing with delivering full scores, almost...

Actress Jenna Ortega has shared as to why her character Wednesday Addams only cried once in the highly streamed Netflix series ‘Wednesday. It only happened once in all of season one, after Ortega’s Wednesday rushed Thing to be saved by Uncle Fester after the disembodied hand was found stabbed to Wednesday’s Nevermore Academy dorm room wall, reports eonline.com.
“It’s also a really important moment for Wednesday,” Ortega said on ‘Still Watching Netflix’ December 20.
“I think it’s the only time we really see her cry.”
Wednesday is seen wiping away tears after Fester manages to magically save Thing’s life. As she explained, seeing Wednesday get emotional elevated the scene to another, very impactful level.
“I’m glad it was over him, though,” Ortega said about her tears.
“I don’t think it would have made sense over anything else.”

The Addams Family series Wednesday has turned out to be a massive hit for the Netflix streaming service – in fact, in less than a month of release, it has already become Netflix’s second-most popular English-language series of all time. So there seems to be almost no question that we’re going to be getting Wednesday season 2… Netflix just hasn’t officially ordered it yet. And while speaking to Variety about the show’s success, Netflix executive Peter Friedlander (the service’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series) still couldn’t confirm if or when that new season order is going to be made.
Friedlander told Variety, “I have nothing to confirm at this time. I am optimistic about Wednesday. We’ll leave it at that. Weirdly, because it feels different, but we’re just two weeks into the launch of Wednesday. So we’re still really at...

Victor Dorobantu, the actor who plays Thing on Netflix’s Wednesday, takes fans behind the scenes to explain how the favorite limb character was brought to life.
In a video posted on the Still Watching Netflix YouTube channel, Tom Turnbull, the VFX Supervisor for Wednesday, said director Tim Burton wanted an actor or performer to play Thing.
“We set out to find us an actor who could do the part,” said Turnbull. “Somebody who had the right look to the hands, who had nimble fingers, was able to do all of these moves. Also, they had to be young enough and supple enough to fit in very awkward situations.” The team chose Dorobantu, who started his career as a magician, for the job.

Following a widely-viewed Nov. 23 premiere on Netflix, fans of Tim Burton’s all-new “Wednesday” series were astonished to discover actor Victor Dorobantu was the body attached to Thing, a recurring character who takes the form of a sentient, severed hand.
The camera effect was achieved through a combination of Dorobantu’s natural dexterity — which is largely the byproduct of his day-job as a magician — and some tactful movie magic in post-production from visual effects supervisor Tom Turnbull and his team. But the real key to bringing Thing to life, both Dorobantu and Turnbull agreed, was the prosthetic tail-end of the hand, which perched atop Dorobantu’s wrist to complete the illusion of a detached limb.
“We call it a stump,” Dorobantu said in reference to the artificial wrist-piece “And we had four or five versions of it. Every scene had different ones.”

In Netflix's new series "Wednesday," teen goth girl detective Wednesday Addams has few friends -- by choice. For much of the first season, the dark storm cloud of a character revels in her ability to scare off potential suitors and companions, instead appreciating the value of her own macabre company. But even before Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) opens up and learns to accept help once in a while, she still has a trusty sidekick who she can always rely on the help her out in a pinch: Thing, the Addams family's disembodied hand sidekick.
Thing has a long history in "The Addams Family." In cartoonist Charles Addams' original "Addams Family" artwork, Thing appeared not as a creepy-crawly hand, but as a largely unseen warning: a sign on a tree outside the monstrous family's home read "Beware of the Thing." In the popular 1964 television series, Thing appeared in more corporeal form,...

You have to hand it to Netflix! The streaming platform gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of their new series “Wednesday”, and some fans were shocked to learn how one particular character was brought to life so convincingly.
Wednesday, Tim Burton’s supernatural drama series, follows the titular Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) during her time at the Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts and paranormally powerful teenager.
She is accompanied at the school by Thing — a living, disembodied hand (who is also a friend of the family) that serves as her companion, accomplice and sidekick.
While many viewers assumed that Thing was a creation of pure CGI magic, it turns out Thing is actually played by a real actor, Victor Dorobantu.
In some production stills snapped during the filming of the series, Dorobantu can be seen rocking a blue screen body suit covering everything but his hand — which...

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "Wednesday" series.
2022 has been a banner year for Jenna Ortega. While she's been working for a decade now, it wasn't until her roles in "Jane the Virgin" and "You" that she caught the world's attention. She's since appeared in several shows, including "Big City Greens," and a slew of high-profile films, such as "Scream" (2022) and "X." Along with excellent turns in "The Fallout" and Netflix's "Wednesday," Ortega has commanded the conversation. She's more than a scream queen: Ortega is the moment.
Ortega's body of work also includes appearances in television series like "Stuck in the Middle" and roles in "Insidious: Chapter 2" and "The Babysitter: Killer Queen." Her other credits this year include "Carnage" and "Studio 666," a Dave Grohl-produced horror-comedy. Whenever Ortega appears on screen, you'll know it. She draws you into her world with performances that are grounded, authentic, and complex.

The Addams Family is iconic. Created by Chas Addams, the single panel cartoons debuted in 1938 in The New Yorker magazine. Director Tim Burton is an obvious fanboy, eager to put his unique spin on the family dynamic. The Netflix series Wednesday is an original spinoff. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams without much family support, the way the character prefers it.
The series opens with the traditional dysfunctional unity. Wednesday protects Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) from bullies because only she is allowed to torture her brother. Her ghastly genius sets the tone immediately. Swimming with piranhas in a school pool is all fun and games until someone loses a testicle. Then it’s a one-way ticket to Nevermore Academy, a place which encourages artful dodgers.

Stepping into a role played indelibly by Christina Ricci in a pair of ’90s features (and, memorably, by Lisa Loring in the classic TV series), Jenna Ortega has no trouble making the eponymous character in Netflix’s Wednesday her own.
Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is the perfectly creepy and kooky accumulation of eight episodes of deadpan line-readings, precise comic physicality and expressive eye-rolls. The character has never needed to face the project-carrying focus of this iteration, but thanks to Ortega’s wildly entertaining blur of arch broadness and subtlety, plus creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s refusal to over-explain or over-evolve the eternally nihilistic goth favorite, Wednesday gets to come into her own here. October seems like the perfect month for the premiere of an Addams Family series, but the Netflix series Wednesday isn’t going to be ready for a Halloween season debut. We won’t have to wait much longer for the show, though. Netflix has announced that Wednesday will be available to watch on the streaming service as of November 23rd! Snap snap.
