Individual creators had a strong showing in this week’s U.S. Top 50. Four of the five channels with the most views on YouTube this week are named after a person rather than a brand.
The #1 channel, however, is an outlier. It’s not named after an individual, but rather two things that toddlers love.

Toys and Colors is a self-explanatory channel. It’s a destination for bright, fun-loving videos that celebrate the power of play. It’s also, as of this week, the most-watched YouTube channel of the moment.

In the United States, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (Aapi) Heritage Month. To celebrate, TikTok is rolling out a series of initiatives that will honor its own community of Asian and Pacific Islander (Api) creators. Its efforts will include a central hub called #APIFamily and an inaugural Api edition of the app’s Visionary Voices list.
Visitors who search for the #APIFamily hashtag can browse videos from Api creators big and small. In the past, TikTok has launched similar hubs to spotlight its Black, Hispanic, Indigenous, and Jewish communities during those groups’ respective heritage celebrations.
Across all of those initiatives, TikTok has created a playbook that will inform its Aapi Heritage Month plans (TikTok is using the acronym Api rather than Aapi to recognize the global nature of its user base.) The #APIFamily hashtag will be applied to the latest installment of TikTok’s Livestream Series, which is...

VidCon‘s visit to Charm City will feature a mix of Maryland-based creators and international influencers. The online video convention has opened ticket sales and revealed the first batch of Featured Creators for VidCon Baltimore, which will hit the East Coast between September 29 and October 1, 2023.
As VidCon ventures to a U.S. city other than Anaheim for the first time, it is making sure to include some local favorites in its festivities. The list of Featured Creators for VidCon Baltimore includes three individuals who won’t have to travel far: funnyman Rich Black Guy, animator CircleToonsHD, and Streamy winner ContraPoints. They’ll be joined by some of the most familiar faces in online video, including The Merrell Twins and Aimsey.
VidCon will hit the Baltimore Convention Center three months after the organizer’s flagship event reconvenes at the Anaheim Convention Center. Some of the stars who have been selected as...

YouTube is taking back top billing at VidCon. It will serve as the title sponsor for VidCon’s main event, which will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on June 21, 2023.
2023 will be YouTube’s eighth year as the title sponsor of VidCon’s flagship gathering. The platform previously held that distinction between 2013 and 2019. In 2022, after a three-year hiatus, VidCon returned to Anaheim with TikTok as its title sponsor. The video app was also slated as the sponsor of VidCon 2021 before that edition of the convention was canceled due to Covid-19.
Though YouTube was not the title sponsor of VidCon in 2022, it still had a strong presence at the event. At the YouTube Shorts Drive-Thru, guests picked up snacks inspired by influencers and giveaways from MrBeast‘s Feastables brand. That activation was spearheaded by the YouTube Marketing team in order to promote YouTube’s TikTok-esque format.

That’s a wrap on the 12th annual Streamy Awards, which presented nearly 50 awards and honors to 2022’s top creators.
After going virtual in 2020 and 2021, the Streamys (produced by Tubefilter and dick clark productions) returned to Irl this year, and to its home turf: the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.
2022’s awards were party rocked by master of ceremonies Airrack, who just so happened to walk away with two nods of his own: top First Person creator as well as a Creator Honor, which we’ll talk more about below. The show was also streamed exclusively from Airrack’s YouTube channel—a first for the Streamys, which normally broadcasts from its own channel.
.@airrack is taking home the for First Person! Congrats!

The Streamy Awards are just a few days away. The annual celebration of online video, which is set to return to a live format for the first time in three years, will be emceed by Eric Decker, the creator known online as Airrack.
To build hype, Streamy Award producers dick clark productions and Tubefilter (that’s us!) have dropped an official trailer. The Streamys preview is set at the Beverly Hilton, which will serve as the show’s venue for the sixth time. The Streamy Awards were last handed out at the Hilton in 2019; in the two following years, the pandemic necessitated a switch to a prerecorded format.
In the new trailer, Decker welcomes Streamy viewers back to the Hilton by sprinting across the hotel. While searching for a meeting with the Streamys team, Decker passes by some of the biggest names in online video, including Anthony Padilla, SeanDoesMagic, and...
