“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

Outlander is a popular historical drama television series that has captured the hearts of viewers worldwide. The show is based on the best-selling book series by Diana Gabaldon, and follows the story of Claire Randall, a nurse from the 20th century who is mysteriously transported back in time to 18th-century Scotland. There, she finds herself caught up in the Jacobite rising and falls in love with Jamie Fraser, a Scottish warrior.
With its intricate storytelling, compelling characters, and stunning scenery, Outlander has become a beloved show for fans of both historical fiction and romance. One of the reasons for the show’s success is the chemistry between lead actors, Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe. But, as it turns out, their connection goes beyond the screen.

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

Starz is spending next summer in Scotland. Season 7 of the channel’s smash hit series “Outlander” will premiere Summer 2023, it was announced Friday. In addition to the release period, the channel also unveiled a first look teaser for the upcoming season.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s nine-book series of the same name, “Outlander” tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse living in 1945 who is transported back in time to the 18th century, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jaime Fraser (Sam Heughan). The show follows Claire and Jamie’s relationship as they navigate the real-life Jacobite rising and other historical events of the era, before more time travel shenanigans cause them to hop freely throughout history.
Season 7 will cover the events of Gabaldon’s seventh book in the “Outlander” series, “An Echo in the Bone.” Released in 2009, the book sees Jaime and Claire continuing their adventures in the 18th century,...

As far as House of the Dragon goes, no knight news is good knight news.
So the fact that Ser Harrold Westerling was last seen denouncing Aegon Targaryen’s ascension to the Iron Throne, and then was not referenced at all in the Season 1 finale, just might bode well for Graham McTavish‘s upright character… or maybe he’ll be dragon toast as soon as Season 2 premieres.

This post contains spoilers for "House of the Dragon" episode nine.
If I didn't know any better, I might think "House of the Dragon" is suggesting monarchies are bad.
But seriously, folks, the shoe finally dropped in the ninth and penultimate episode of the show's first season. The body of the late King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) is still piping hot when the Green Council meets to discuss the matter of his successor. And by "discuss," I mean confirm most of them have been plotting to usurp Viserys' named heir, Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy), this whole time. But it's okay, they assure a pearl-clutching Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke), for it turns out this was actually Viserys' dying wish (or so Alicent has convinced herself). They remind me of Calvin telling Susie in the "Calvin and Hobbes" comics it doesn't really matter he threw a snowball at her. "Besides, I missed,...

Some new and old faces are heading to Scotland. Five new cast members have joined the upcoming “Outlander” Season 7, along with six prior cast members rejoining the popular Starz series.
The newly announced cast members include Rod Hallett, who will play real-life American soldier and notorious traitor Benedict Arnold. Other new cast members include Gloria Obianyo as free Black Colonial America woman Mercy Woodcock, and Chris Fulton as 20th century man Rob Cameron.
Two new actors will portray two characters already seen in the series: Kristin Atherton, 36, will play Jenny Murray, a character previously played by Laura Donnelly, who is 40; Diarmaid Murtagh, also 40, will take over the role of Buck MacKenzie, the son of Graham McTavish’s Dougal MacKenzie. McTavish actually played Buck in a previous season.
McTavish, 61, will return for Season 7 as Dougal, the uncle of main character Jamie (Sam Heughan). Other returning cast members include Nell Hudson as Jamie’s ex-wife Laoghaire Fraser,...

Outlander actor Graham McTavish has recently spoken out about the possibility of him appearing in the Starz network series, Blood of My Blood.
The actor starred as Dougal MacKenzie in Outlander but was killed off in Season 2 of the hit historical time-traveling drama series.
When news broke that Starz was in production for a spinoff series, viewers immediately started questioning who from the original series might be in the new show.
Blood of My Blood will tell the story of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents, so that meant Jamie was out of the question — unless a much younger version of the character was involved.
However, there are some characters that are older than Jamie in the current series and knew Jamie’s parents, so there...

Graham McTavish is no stranger to trotting around in less-than-ideal riding costumes — in his two seasons on Outlander, he traversed the Scottish Highlands in many a kilt — but Game of Thrones‘ upcoming prequel House of the Dragon requires him to sit a steed in plate armor as he gallops through Westeros.
So naturally, when TVLine recently chatted with the Artist Formerly Known as Dougal MacKenzie, we wondered which was worse.
