Liza Koshy is continuing her transition from internet standout to Hollywood actor. Her latest film role comes in Players, a romantic comedy that is now available to stream on Netflix.
Players stars Gina Rodriguez as a sportswriter who enjoys setting up hookups for her friends, including a co-worker portrayed by Koshy. Hijinks ensue when Mack falls for one of her “targets” and must decide how to pursue him. Beyond Rodriguez and Koshy, the film’s cast also includes Damon Wayans Jr. and Tom Ellis.
Koshy revealed her role in Players in June 2021, nearly three years before the film’s eventual release date. At the time, Koshy’s strong following on platforms like YouTube (where she currently has nearly 17 million subscribers) made her a popular choice for brand collabs and hosting gigs at events like the Met Gala and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

In a decisive win for the Autobots after being stuck on autopilot for years, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts opened to a promising $60.5 million at the domestic box office, more than enough to topple popular holdover Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and win the crowded summer weekend.
Rise of the Beasts — which successfully revives the Hasbro toy-to-movie franchise after several fits and starts — landed on the high end of expectations. While reviews have been mixed, the Paramount and Skydance pic earned an A- CinemaScore from audiences and excellent PostTrak scores.
Younger adults made up the majority of ticket buyers, with 56 percent between ages 18-34, including 34 percent between 18-24, according to PostTrak. The male-skewing film is playing to an ethnically diverse audience (Latino, 32 percent; white, 31 percent; Black, 21 percent; and Asian/Other, 16 percent).
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts also did sizeable business overseas, earning $110 million for an early global roar of $170.5 million.

The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts red carpet in New York City was filled with fans-turned-stars, who grew up watching the movies and playing with the toys, and now found themselves celebrating their parts in bringing these iconic characters to life.
“It’s a dream come true,” Cristo Fernández told The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere on Monday. “I still cannot believe it. I’m asking people to pinch me. I used to play with the toys, and now I’m one of them.”
The actor voices Wheeljack, the first Latin Autobot in Transformers history. “I just hope this opens more doors for more Latino talent out there,” the Ted Lasso star added.
Liza Koshy, who voices the Autobot Arcee, echoed Fernández’s statement, explaining that she was so excited to be a part of such a major piece of pop culture history and joking that everyone had all sorts...

Liza Koshy's next role will give her the opportunity to act alongside several Hollywood power players. The four-time Streamy Award winner, who has reduced her activity on YouTube while she pursues an acting career, has been cast in a Netflix romantic comedy. Her co-stars will include several Oscar and Emmy winners, including Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, and Kathy Bates.
The as-of-yet untitled project is helmed by another Oscar nominee, Richard Lagravenese. The director of The Fisher King also co-wrote the rom-com alongside Carrie Solomon. According to Deadline, the plot will center on a "surprising romance which kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity." I'd imagine that Koshy is portraying the "young woman," though the specific casting details have not been announced.
