Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are two franchises that had a massive impact on my childhood – and now Dark Horse Comics has revealed that they will be bringing characters from those franchises together in a four-part comic book mini-series called Turtles of Grayskull! Super Hero Hype reports that the first issue of Turtles of Grayskull will be reaching store shelves on September 25th – and they also got their hands on three different covers for that issue, which you can check out at the bottom of this article!
Longtime He-Man writer Tim Seeley has written Turtles of Grayskull, with Freddie E. Williams II (who previously drew the Injustice/Masters of the Universe and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossovers) providing the artwork. Space Ghost colorist Andrew Dalhouse is also on board, with the lettering coming from AndWorld Design.

Kent Melton, the animation sculptor who created maquettes made of clay for iconic characters found in movies including Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, The Incredibles and Coraline, has died. He was 68.
Melton died Thursday at his home in Stone County, Missouri, of Lewy body dementia, family members told The Hollywood Reporter.
One of the few artists left in the industry who still sculpted in clay, Melton was a key player in the Disney animation renaissance of the 1990s. Later, he helped Laika Studios become a stop-motion powerhouse. Along the way, he was entrusted by animators to bring their two-dimensional drawings into a three-dimensional world.
Melton’s first Disney credit came on Aladdin (1992), followed by work on such other studio films as Thumbelina (1994), The Lion King (1994), Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Hercules (1997), Mulan (1998), The Prince of Egypt (1998), Tarzan (1999), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron...

The film also stars Patrick J Adams, Jacob Cedergren, John Leguizamo, Eddie Izzard, David Oyelowo, Dianne Wiest, Steve Buscemi, Adriana Barraza, Simon Abkarian and Bob Balaban. Being one-of-one, the number one, the only one has emerged as Beyoncé’s most prominent creative ethos. This year, she became the most decorated artist in Grammys history and completed the most ambitious tour of her career, bringing her celebration of Black and queer culture on her Renaissance album to stadiums across the world. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift reached an idiosyncratic tier of cultural prominence in her own right, breaking chart records and delivering an extravaganza of her own on the career-spanning stadium run, the Eras tour. Both artists have been...

My favorite scene in “Dig,” the series finale of FX’s Hulu series Reservation Dogs, finds Devery Jacobs’ Elora joining D’Pharaoh Woon-a-Tai’s Bear sitting by Old Man Fixico’s casket.
Bear is meditating on nothing less than the impermanence of life, which is also what Elora wants to discuss. Specifically, she has to tell Bear that she’s exiting their hometown, departing Okern and going to college. She knows, though, that Bear’s mother (Sarah Podemski’s Rita) has recently told him she’s taking a job in Oklahoma City. Everybody is leaving Bear, and Elora worries about how her friend will take the news.
The emotion is bursting out of Elora. She wants to explain, to apologize, to justify. Bear asks her to pause. She looks at him with concern. He looks down. Pondering. She’s wondering if Bear’s about to break down. We’re wondering if...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem grossed $167 million worldwide and sits at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. The studio was quick to get the ball rolling on a sequel as well as a two-season animated series.
Mutant Mayhem director Jeff Rowe has said early versions of the movie included Shredder as the main villain before they decided to save him for the sequel. “The early version of the film [was] very different from what you’re seeing on screen,” Rowe said. “They were just in high school the entire movie.

It was October of 1987 and I was saving the morning’s writing on my Mac 512 – a process that took about a minute longer than Michelangelo needed to finish chiseling David – when the phone rang. I welcomed the diversion.
“Turn on CNN,” said the voice on the other end. It was Ken Finkleman, one of the producers of the script I was working on.
“Why?”
“Just turn on CNN.”
I did. On the network was a breaking news story. A baby had fallen into a backyard well in Midland, Texas. The 18-month-old girl was alive and emergency workers were feverishly trying to rescue her. Jessica McClure, the toddler stuck in the well, would be a story that would capture the world’s attention over four days of around-the-clock coverage.
Besides the friends and family of baby Jessica, I doubt anyone else cared more about the child’s survival than me. Of course,...

When you think of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there are a few things that probably spring to mind immediately: the word “Cowabunga!”, pizza-slices, ‘90s bodaciousness, and martial-arts badassery. Probably less likely to appear are emotional coming-of-age classics and ruminations on the fleeting nature of youth. But for all that this summer’s animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will bring its fair share of ninja stars, hip-hop needle-drops, and – of course – those heroes in a half-shell, it’s also drawing from some seminal cinematic explorations of young life.

With the indictment of former president Donald Trump on 34 felony counts, our country is in uncharted territory. Never has a former president been indicted for criminal activity, and never has a former president warned of “potential death and destruction” as a result.
What’s more, the indictments — stemming from Trump’s behavior after an alleged affair with Stormy Daniels — may just be the first of many, with the more serious charges still to come, amid alleged crimes including pressuring the Georgia secretary of state to “find 11,780 votes,” fomenting the January 6 insurrection,...

Once again, The Simpsons are being credited for predicting a future dumpster fire.
Case in point: a 1990 episode of the animated Fox comedy depicted an angry mob of people protesting the planned exhibition of Michelangelo’s David in Springfield. “It’s fifth,” a woman tells Marge. “It graphically portrays parts of the human body, which practical as they may be, are evil.”
Flash forward to this week, when a Florida charter school principal says she was forced to resign after some parents complained about their sixth grade students seeing a picture of David in class. Seven law enforcement officials, who conducted an armed raid of the rapper Afroman’s home in August 2022, are now suing him for invasion of privacy.
Afroman used footage from the raid in his music videos and allegedly included it in merchandise and social media posts.
The members of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio have filed a lawsuit against the rapper – real name Joseph Foreman – claiming the footage, which shows their faces, has caused “emotional distress, embarrassment, ridicule, loss of reputation and humiliation”.
According to court documents seen by The Independent, Afroman himself was not present during the raid. However, his wife was there and “recorded portions of the search on her phone”, while “several security video cameras” in the home also captured “portions of the search”.
The plaintiffs argue they are entitled to all of the profits made from the use of their “personas”. They claim this includes takings from his songs,...

The Simpsons appears to have predicted the unfortunate reality of a parental uproar at a Florida charter school.
Years ago, in the animated sitcom’s ninth episode of its second season (1991), titled “Itchy & Scratchy & Marge”, Marge Simpson is horrified by the violence depicted on her children’s TV show Itchy & Scratchy.
After failing to convince the production company to tone down the violence, she forms an angry mob named Snuh to join her in protesting the show’s studio.
Meanwhile, Michelangelo’s David is sent around on a tour of the US, with an expected stop in the Simpsons’s city of Springfield, angering members of Snuh.
They urge Marge to protest the famed sculpture, claiming it’s offensive and inappropriate. However, Marge, being an artist herself, insists it’s a masterpiece. She’s later pointed out for her hypocrisy in differentiating what art should be censored.
Marge eventually concedes...
