Only one episode remains in Season 3 of “Chucky,” and what a bloody road it’s been so far, especially for actor Devon Sawa. The actor has now officially died twice on screen this season, pulling double duty as President James Collins and body double Randall Jenkins.
If you thought Chucky’s ruthless eye-gouging of the President was bloody, this week’s Episode 7 traps Randall Jenkins in an elevator that feels straight out of an iconic horror classic.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with series creator Don Mancini and actor Devon Sawa about that ultra-bloody death sequence and how the actor inspires Mancini’s writing on the series.
Mancini explains, “Devon’s a bit of a muse. Idle Hands and Final Destination is where my Devon Sawa fandom started, like a lot of people; although yours may have started with Casper. I was a bit too old for that. But it’s really...

An electrician, a priest, and the President.
No, that's not the start of a joke. It's just three out of the five characters already played by Devon Sawa on Chucky.
Anyone even slightly familiar with the franchise is already aware of Chucky's constant and imminent return with each installment.
However, the almost meta resurrection of Devon Sawa with each season was an unexpected surprise.
If you've been along for the insane killer doll ride for all three seasons, then you know by now that no adult character, whether main, recurring, or extra, is ever safe in the Chucky universe.
And much like Kenny McCormick from South Park, no adult character is more expected to die than those played by Sawa.
The show stands out with its over-the-top and campy kills in a franchise that centers around a possessed doll with a lust for bloody macabre.

Not even death can slow Chucky in “There Will Be Blood,” the penultimate episode of “Chucky” Season 3. With the killer receiving a mortal blow in the last episode, Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) can now take full advantage of the White House’s bizarre supernatural purgatory, leaving him free to continue his current reign of terror as a ghost. While that spells trouble for Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), it makes for an outrageously satisfying bloodbath heading into next week’s finale.
“There Will Be Blood” covers a lot of ground in short order, with Charles Lee Ray confronting his maker over his failures before he can continue his current path of destruction. Lexy, Jake, and Devon continue their desperate bid to find Lexy’s sister, which means seeking answers from the afterlife. They’re in luck, considering Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows) enlists...

More than two decades later, it’s hard to imagine anyone but Devon Sawa playing the titular role in the unforgettable music video for Eminem’s 2000 classic, “Stan,” but the actor has revealed Macaulay Culkin was the first choice to star in the visual.
“They went out to Macaulay Culkin first,” Sawa told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. “I think that they wanted him, and he wasn’t available, or didn’t want to do it or whatever.”
Thankfully for Sawa, Dr. Dre (who directed the video) was a fan of his work in Final Destination and suggested him instead. “There happened to be somebody in the casting office that knew somebody who was friends with me, and they called me that way… and it ended up working out pretty good,” Sawa explained, adding that the video was “one of the proudest things I’ve been a part of.

If you had to choose which horror movie villain you could outlast, chances are Chucky would be at the top of most peoples’ lists. Come on, he’s like two and a half feet tall, how could you not win? Why not just kick him across the room? Well, this can work every now and then, but Chucky is one diabolical doll and sooner or later he’ll find a way to get you. But imagine this gets swapped: Chucky is the oversized one matching wits and knives with someone – or something – a fraction of his size. That’s just the scenario Devon Sawa pictures, wondering what it would be like if the hand from Idle Hands were to take on the Good Guy.

Don Mancini, creator of Chucky, is discussing a potential fourth season and has an idea of where to take the show despite not knowing what the future holds for it.
The Syfy and USA Network show is currently airing the backend episodes of Season 3, and the networks have not confirmed if the show will have a Season 4.
“There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do,” Mancini told The Direct in an interview.
Mancini teased that if a fourth season were to happen, the storyline would take another left turn.

The wait is now over and it’s time for a new presidential contender, Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif), aka Chucky, who has arrived and is ready to torment another day. After a long hiatus during which the creators divided season 3 into two parts, Don Mancini finally bestows another part of season 3 with four more episodes in its haunting repertoire. Although it seems impossible, Chucky Season 3: Part Two is even crazier and bloodier, as the season takes a spiritual spin.
Following the conclusion of Part One, we are left with a fast-aging Chucky, clinging to life as a serial killer in a doll body. But the man's foe isn't just the old age: Jake (Zackary Arthur), Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson) are back and are hellbent on destroying the remains of Chucky's soul for good. Chucky, the iconic psychopathic doll with a taste for blood, has seen some competition on his corner. In the past year alone, dancing AI Dolls, giant animatronics, and the return of the tricycle-riding clown have offered stiff competition. Yet there’s only one red-headed monster known for his comedy, his oddly progressive nature, and, of course, his super violent kills. Chucky returns for the second half of its third season and, once again, proves his dark comedy fits best on television.
Chucky Season 3 Plot
After infiltrating the White House, Chucky (Brad Dourif) continues his reign of terror. In Part 1, he already butchered multiple SNL cast members and took out high-ranking Secret Service officials. However, Chucky loses favor with his deity of choice, Damballa, causing him to age rapidly. As the Chuckster tries to stop this process, his love Tiffany Valentine – possessing the body of Jennifer Tilly – awaits execution. Nica Pierce...

Two years after its arrival in theaters, Glenn Danzig‘s horror film Death Rider in the House of Vampires is finally receiving a physical release on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Danzig’s second original feature-length film and self-described “vampire Spaghetti Western” received a limited theatrical release back in August 2021. The veteran rocker wrote, directed, scored, and starred in the film (playing the character Bad Bathory) alongside the likes of Devon Sawa, Julian Sands, Danny Trejo, Eli Roth, and Kim Director.
The plot follows the Death Rider (Sawa), who travels to the desert Vampire Sanctuary, ruled by Count Holliday. The price of admission is “one untouched virgin.” As seen in the Nsfw trailer for the film, the combo of bloodthirst and gunslinging recalls Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s horror shoot-em-up From Dusk Till Dawn, which also features vampires and pistols.

Franchising is basically the bread and butter of the horror genre. It doesn't matter what critics think. It doesn't even matter if the iconic central villain is killed at the end of the movie. Where there's a will, there's a way -- and writers can always be persuaded to come up with new explanations for why their characters are put back in similarly horrific scenarios.
Within the genre, you could make the argument that sequels are the rule rather than the exception, and even subpar horror films often end up becoming franchises, whether their follow-up films are given a theatrical release or not. (Direct-to-video sequels are also a long-term staple for scary movies.) This is especially true for teen horror movies, since younger audiences have always been a target demographic for these types of films.
But every once in a while, you get a teen horror flick that's one-and-done, without a sequel on the horizon.

Actor Devon Sawa had a fun but educational experience working with the Chucky doll. Collaborating with the pint-sized serial killer was more work than he thought it would be.

Working with a doll wasn’t as simple as it appeared on screen. For one thing, Sawa learned on set that he wasn’t just going to be working with one Chucky.
“What you don’t know—or what I didn’t know—is that you have to do each bit and there’s a different Chucky for everything,” Sawa once told E News. “There’s Chucky with legs, there’s Chucky with arms, there’s mad Chucky, happy Chucky.”
Not only that, but Sawa didn’t have the easiest time acting alongside Chucky in the beginning.

When Chucky puts his mind to something, he tends to get results, even if there are several bumps in the road.
The killer doll returned triumphantly on Chucky Season 3 Episode 1, a chilling hour that took him into the White House.
It's the perfect location for him to hide in plain sight because none of the people who want to take him down can get inside.
The security is second to none -- depending on who you ask!
The political tone of the premiere worked well to give the series a soft reboot.
Going into Chucky Season 3, it was hard to tell how the series would be able to keep Jake, Devon, Lexy, Tiffany, and Nica as a part of the narrative because the series moved to a whole new location.
But the beauty of Chucky being in Washington D.C. is that he can manipulate the people who believe he's good,...

Previously on f***ing "Chucky," everyone's favorite serial killer-possessed doll kickstarted a reign of havoc throughout New Jersey, and it was up to a group of meddling teens to stop him. Creator Don Mancini first brought Charles Lee "Chucky" Ray to audiences in 1988 with "Child's Play," and the pint-sized slasher franchise has grown to seven films and now three seasons of television. Mancini has been at the helm through it all, evolving the series every step of the way. And now, season 3 of the USA and Syfy "Chucky" series is taking things one step further in the wildest season yet.
Brad Dourif continues to dazzle and destroy as the titular doll, and "Chucky" is as gruesome, raucous, campy, and decidedly envelope-pushing as ever — both in substance and style. Season 3 is unfortunately split into two parts, but the first half — consisting of four episodes — continues the seasonal tradition that Halloween isn't...

And how can Jake, Devon, and Lexy possibly get to Chucky inside the world’s most secure building, all while balancing the pressures of romantic relationships and growing up? Resurfaced comments from Seann William Scott addresses pay disparity issues in Hollywood that are front and center in the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Scott, who famously portrayed naughty high schooler Stiffler in the “American Pie” franchise, revealed that his salary for the original 1999 film was only $8,000. The film went on to gross more than $235 million at the box office and spur multiple sequels.
Scott shared with TV talk show host Rick Eisen (via The Independent) that the paycheck was “a lot of money for me at the time” but still led to him taking on additional work.

Hallmark Channel star Lacey Chabert has addressed Candance Cameron Bure’s controversial criticism of network’s Christmas movies.
Full House star Bure drew criticism in November after saying that her new employers, the channel Great American Family, would keep “traditional marriage at the core” shortly after the announcement of Hallmark’s first film centred on an LGBTQ+ marriage.
She added in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that a “change of leadership” had made Hallmark “a completely different network than when I started”.
Now, Mean Girls actor Chabert, who rose to fame in 1990s series Party of Five, has defended Hallmark, saying that she has “found a real home” with the channel.
“Any shift I’ve felt has been embracing our creative ideas, and it’s my responsibility to the audience who continue to tune into my movies that I give the best I have to offer,” Chabert said.

A member of the team that worked on Paramount Pictures’ live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is reacting to feedback from over the years that was not quite bodacious.
Actor Devon Sawa tweeted a meme Wednesday showing a still of Leonardo from the Michael Bay-produced 2014 theatrical release; the character is pictured alongside a doctored version without the film’s nostrils, but instead featuring facial features more reminiscent of the design used for the original theatrical trilogy that launched in 1990. In his tweet, Sawa noted that he wasn’t sure who created the new version but that it was a “huge fix.”
This led to a response from Jared Krichevsky, who is credited as a creature designer on director Jonathan Liebesman’s 2014 film. “Welp, time to relive this time in my life over again,” he tweeted Wednesday. He also referenced Paramount delaying the release...

When Jimmy Jayne is the only suspect in the gruesome deaths of four women, the disaffected ex-con sets out to clear his name by plunging headfirst into the criminal world he'd managed to escape.
Devon Sawa is the beleaguered Jimmy. The film, by director Edward Drake, is Gasoline Alley.
If that title brings to mind black and white noir films of the past, it's no coincidence.
Drake set out to make a neo-noir set in a version of Los Angeles about how far men will go when pushed to their limits.
Tattoo artist Jimmy drives a classic Chevelle muscle car and sports rockabilly shirts, smoking continuously. Most of what is said on screen is through actions and mood, and Sawa captures it effortlessly.
Luke Wilson and Bruce Willis are detectives Vargas and Freeman, and like Jimmy, they're not easy to pin down.
Each of the three men dances with ambiguity,...

The series will air in the 9 p.m. slot, leading into the series premiere of the freshman drama series Reginal the Vampire, an adaptation of Johnny B. Truant's Fat Vampire book series.
That series will feature Jacob Batalan (Spider-Man) in the title role.
As for Chucky, the series has a lot to unpack after the franchise-changing Chucky Season 1.
If you watch Chucky online, you know that Tiffany was revealed to be the person who told the cops about Chucky, setting up his original death.
That original death is what landed him inside one of those pesky dolls in the first place.
We also got to meet the Tiffany doll from the movies, once again, teeing up an exciting second season.

Child abuse is a topic that both society and cinema have been dealing more intently with during the last decade, with Japanese filmmakers in particular being especially pointed in their remarks, in films like “Sunk Into the Womb” for example. Keiichiro Sawa, however, focuses on an extension of this issue, by presenting the blights children who have suffered from abuse face when they grow up.
