Actor/ director and comedian Jordan Peele has been the mastermind behind some of the most talked about horror movies, including Get Out, Us, and of course, Nope. However, his recent cinematic journey as a producer has not been quite as promising as Dev Patel’s very own Monkey Man, despite the hype, was far from making a splash at the box office.

Certainly, Peele deserves a break, and his recent meeting with Marvel Executives might just change his fate. With the recent report, fans might wonder what project Peele would pick up. While most fans almost believed that he would direct Mahershala Ali’s Blade, we think he might just land on a different exciting project, given Yann Demange is set to direct Blade (if Marvel Studios is still sticking with him).

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete. Three of my past suggestions actually did end up cast on the show: Frankie Muniz (who placed third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who placed second on season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of male celebs I think the show should consider to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

‘The Marvels’ is the latest movie in the MCU. It continues Carol Danvers’ story and puts a spotlight on Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau, who became notable characters in Phase 4 of the MCU.
Despite its importance for the future of the cinematic universe, ‘The Marvels’ didn’t do well at the box office. Carol Danvers dealt with her issues with the Kree, Monica Rambeau got stuck in a parallel universe, hinting at future X-Men developments, and Kamala Khan was seen recruiting the next generation of Avengers for the upcoming ‘Young Avengers’ project. However, Carol Danvers didn’t seem to have a clear purpose by the end of the movie.
Recently, there have been rumors circulating that ‘Captain Marvel 3’ might not happen because the studio is prioritizing guaranteed successes. So, what could happen to one of the strongest Avengers? According to Alex Perez, a well-known source of leaks, Carol will have...

‘The Marvels’ is the latest movie in the MCU. The movie was both a continuation of the Danvers’ story as well as a spotlight on Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau who established themselves as notable characters during Phase 4 of the MCU.

For many years, Marvel fans have been begging the Marvel Studios for a standalone Hulk film, but their request was always denied. However, it looks like Marvel is finally going to grant the fans their request as they are coming up with a standalone film for Mark Ruffalo with World War Hulk.
The Hulk
However, that’s not all as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to take charge, as the superhero franchise seems to be in disarray. However, the upcoming film is going to mark a new era as it will sow the seeds for reuniting the Avengers for a bigger threat. If all goes well this storyline would be the best thing from the current sage and will make one of the best films for a crossover.

Ever since the release of the last MCU film, which was none other than the infamous The Marvels, there have been rumors going around that claimed actress Brie Larson’s days as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, had come to an end.
But at the time, there were no concrete pieces of evidence to support these claims, and as new reports started to roll in, it seemed less likely that the character or the actress was going anywhere.
Brie Larson in and as Captain Marvel
As new information has started to flow in, it seems like Captain Marvel may have a lot more to do in the franchise in the future. New insider reports claim Danvers may seek the help of Sorcerer Supreme Wong as well as Bruce Banner to help understand the powers of The Quantum Bands while also attempting to bring back Monica Rambeau to the main MCU universe.

In the famed "Rick and Morty" episode "Pickle Rick", the mad scientist Rick (Justin Roiland) uses his bizarre scientific acumen to transform his body into a pickle. He initially claims that he conducted his weird experiment for reasons of study, but it's made clear right away that he turned himself into a pickle specifically to avoid going to group therapy with his family. His daughter Beth (Sarah Chalke) leaves Rick alone in his garage, taking the syringe of antidote that would transform him back into a human. Rick, not being able to move as a pickle, is batted around by a cat and knocked into a sewer. He manages to create locomotion for himself using his tongue on a cockroach's exposed brain. He is eventually able to construct gross, muscular limbs out of rat cadavers, as well as weapons and jet packs from other sewer detritus. Rick, as a rat pickle,...

Linmon Pictures, one of the most outward-looking mainland Chinese entertainment firms, is preparing premium series “Hate Coin.”
The show is being produced in association with Jonathan Wong and Justina Shih’s production company Octagon Metatainment, a Hong Kong-based multimedia studio.
“Hate Coin” is based on international best-selling novel “Second Sister,” by successful Hong Kong novelist Chan Ho Kei, whose previous book “The Borrowed” was a crime story that panned five-decades.
The story follows the activities of a young woman whose school-age sister appeared to have committed suicide. Suspecting foul play, the woman trams up with a manipulative hacker and cybersecurity expert to try to dig deeper.
“What follows is a cat and mouse game through the city of Hong Kong and its digital underground, especially an online gossip platform, where someone has been slandering Siu-Man. The novel is also populated by a man harassing girls on mass transit; high school kids,...

Back in 2010 in Hong Kong, Wong Ching-po shot the cult “Revenge: A Love Story”, about a man that kills pregnant women, taking away their unborn babies. His later works, however, were mostly martial arts/action movies that definitely did not reach the standards of the aforementioned. That is until this year and “The Pig, the Snake and the Pigeon” which seems to bring him back to the Cat III space that he thrived, this time, though, in a Taiwanese production.

Austin, TX – One thing that SXSW attracts are movie stars. With the big premieres headquartered at the famous art deco Paramount Theatre in Austin, audiences were treated to appearances by the legendary Susan Sarandon (“Gutter”), a reunited Cheech & Chong, and for the creme de la creme we were in the “Cage.” The great Nicolas Cage appeared on behalf of “Arcadian.”

Beginning Friday, March 22, a new 2K restoration of My Heart Is That Eternal Rose, Patrick Tam's underseen and visually daring late-80s action-romance, opens for a one-week NY exclusive theatrical run at Metrograph In Theater.
Tam, perhaps the Hong Kong New Wave's most daring cine-modernist and a crucial influence on Wong Kar-wai, teams with Dp Christopher Doyle, a regular Wong collaborator, for a high-style “heroic bloodshed” melodrama starring Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Kenny Bee, and Joey Wong as three friends bound together by ties both criminal and romantic. With shamelessly pulpy plotting, a synth-heavy score, luxuriously expressionistic imagery, and a climactic bloodbath for the ages, My Heart is That Eternal Rose exists somewhere at the intersection between Wong's cinema of longing and John Woo's cinema of wrathful vengeance. One of the unheralded masterworks of Hong Kong filmmaking. A Kani Releasing release.

Not long ago, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were at the top of the television world. Game of Thrones was a juggernaut and continuously won many Emmys. They had been tapped to help the future of Star Wars. Even HBO was moving forward on questionable projects, simply because their name was attached. However, even though Game of Thrones left the air almost five years ago, the creative duo has been missing in action.
Finally, 3 Body Problem gives them an opportunity to return to the television throne. With the help of co-creator Alexander Woo, the three men take on the mammoth task of adapting the book series. “Pendatang” is a very important film for Malaysian cinema, in a year the local industry seems to be taking a leap. The film is the country's inaugural crowd-funded and locally-produced film, and was released exclusively and for free on YouTube by the movie studio to avoid censorship and maintain its non-profit commitment stated on the Indiegogo crowd funding campaign page. From the 21st, when it was initially released, until now (December 28th) “Pendatang” (as it is its Malaysian title) has 550,000 views, perhaps suggesting a solution against the rather strict censorship policies the country implements.
The story takes place in a fictional version of Malaysia where a segregation act after the ‘927 incident' and the subsequent referendum has split the country's population according to their ethnicity, relocating the citizens to designated areas. In this setting, a Cantonese-speaking family of four is forced to relocate into a remote kampong house, despite the fact that the father,...

One of my favorite comic book story arcs is the “Rise of the Midnight Sons”, which saw Doctor Strange overseeing the formation of a team of supernatural heroes – Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Morbius, the Nightstalkers, and Darkhold characters Vicki Montesi, Louise Hastings, and Sam Buchanan – who were brought together to battle Lilith, the Mother of All Demons, and her evil offspring, the Lilin. There have been different variations of the Midnight Sons over the years, with other team members like Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, The Hood, Doctor Voodoo, Elsa Bloodstone, Moon Knight, Iron Fist, Scarlet Spider, Kushala, Magik, Wolverine, and Nico Minoru coming and going. The latest version of the team was even called the Midnight Suns rather than Sons. Now Cosmic Circus has shared the Rumor that a version of the Midnight Sons might be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Although most past recipients of the Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actress SAG Award triumphed after being Emmy-nominated for the same performances, a few – including three of the last five – competed for the two prizes in the opposite order. That subgroup’s newest member is “George & Tammy” star Jessica Chastain, who is presently awaiting the result of her Emmy bid for the biographical series. As it happens, the list of performers aiming to supplant her as said SAG Award category’s reigning champion mainly consists of women who were eligible for the 75th Emmys (taking place in January 2024), but that does not apply to Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”), who could end up benefiting from her unique ability to emulate Chastain’s rare achievement.

If you've been holding off on buying any Lego Marvel playsets for fear of starting an addiction that you just can't maintain, we have good news and bad news. ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ unveiled a familiar Marvel comic book think-tank, The Illuminati.
This iteration of The Illuminati originated from the alternate Earth-838. A formidable group, spearheaded by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange, formed to shield their universe from formidable threats like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial roster included Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo joined after Strange’s demise following the Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati met their end, thanks to Wanda Maximoff, who spared only Mordo.
Now, as per rumors circulating from a reliable leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the Earth-199999 version of the Illuminati in the MCU will feature Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ introduced us to a well-known think-tank from the comics, The Illuminati.
That version of The Illuminati hailed from parallel Earth-838. A bunch of heavy hitters led by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange formed the Illuminati to safeguard their realm from major dangers like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial lineup featured Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo hopped on board after Strange bit the dust post-Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati got the axe later on, courtesy of Wanda Maximoff, who wiped out everyone but Mordo.
Now, according to the rumors started by a well-known leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the version of the Illuminati from mainline MCU Earth-199999 will consist of Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is loaded with Easter eggs. That information shouldn’t surprise anyone who played Insomniac Games’ previous Spider-Man adventures or anyone who is familiar with the studio’s other titles. That team loves to fill their games with various winks and nods, and they happen to be very good at doing so.
While there are numerous little Easter eggs in Spider-Man 2 worth discovering, the best (and biggest) Easter eggs are worth discussing as well due to the various ways they reference the larger Marvel multiverse. Given what we know about Insomniac’s future projects, they also raise some fascinating questions regarding how far Insomniac will be able to expand its own corner of that multiverse.
See, there are numerous nods to other Marvel properties in Spider-Man 2 that I ultimately don’t consider to be anything more than gags.

Arvin Chen is to direct “Coolie,” a limited series featuring enslaved Chinese workers in 19th century Cuba.
The eight-part series is the first to emerge from Cathay Film Company, a recent production venture launched by Singapore-based industry veteran Meileen Choo.
In the mid-1800s, when the African slave trade was outlawed throughout the Americas, plantation owners in Cuba instead began trafficking indentured servants from China and other parts of Asia. These, so-called coolies were often treated as slaves, but some integrated into Cuban society and joined the country’s fight for independence from Spain. The provided a low-cost workforce for farms, restaurants, factories and were instrumental in setting up Chinatowns across the world.

Describing the film’s sound and 4K restoration as “sublime,” The Jokers head Manuel Chiche says, “‘Let’s Get Lost’ is now a timeless classic not only about life but also about art and creation.”
“Let’s Get Lost” is due to hit French theaters in summer 2024.
“The Host,” meanwhile, premiered earlier this year in France with a special screening, along with the Oscar-winning “Parasite,” and master class by Bong at Paris’ famed Grand Rex theater and also unspooled at the Institut Lumière in Lyon as part of a Bong retrospective.

Season 7 of “Rick and Morty” is the first volume of the Adult Swim animated sitcom, a “Back to the Future” riff tracking the adventures of a mad scientist and his bumbling grandson, not to star co-creator Justin Roiland as the voice of both title characters. The network fired Roiland in January after the actor was charged with domestic violence; though the charges have since been dropped, an NBC News report last month alleged a pattern of inappropriate sexual conduct. In between, the roles of Rick and Morty were recast with soundalikes Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden, a monthslong saga that culminated with the debut of a Roiland-free show on Sunday.
All this behind-the-scenes upheaval might suggest “Rick and Morty” would return a markedly different show. But “How Poopy Got His Poop Back” is almost pointedly normal, collecting various fixtures of the “Rick and Morty” universe — not just Rick and Morty themselves,...

“Beef” creator and three-time Emmy nominee Lee Sung Jin calls fellow show director and executive producer Jake Schreier one of his “closest friends.” So it’s probably no surprise the pair have engaged in some “friendly ribbing” after the 2023 Emmy nominations were announced in July. Lee and Schreier are competing against each other in Directing for a Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, meaning the longtime pals are now temporary rivals.
“It’s all love, though, because he is so talented. I sought him out for ‘Beef’ because everything I know about directing, I’ve pretty much either learned from movies or from him,” Lee tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview. “I’m so glad that he’s getting the recognition that he deserves. But yeah, you know, we’re both competitive. Is there a little part of me that is going to be a little bit happier if I win?...

Oprah Winfrey, who owns a house in Hawaii, was in Maui on Thursday to personally deliver needed supplies to evacuees of the island’s devastating wildfires. The flames have claimed 67 lives so far, with many more still missing, Wbal-tv reported Friday.
“It’s a little overwhelming,” a visibly distraught Winfrey told the BBC at Maui’s War Memorial Stadium, where a shelter has been set up for the many people displaced by the fires.
“But I’m really so pleased to have so many people supporting, and people are just bringing what they can and doing what they can,” Winfrey added.

She explained that she’d checked the shelter earlier to see which items people needed the most.
“Often you make donations of clothes or whatever, and it’s not really what people need,” she said as she distributed pillows.

“Top Chef” alum Lee Ann Wong has lived in Hawaii since 2013, where she runs her popular Honolulu restaurant Koko Head Cafe and also serves as executive chef for Hawaiian Airlines. And on Thursday she called into NewsNation to give some on-the-ground perspective on the horrifying fires that are ripping through the island of Maui.
The fires were caused by several factors: climate change, which has led to increasingly dry summers in Hawaii that increase fire risk; the proliferation of non-native fauna; and an unfortunate combination of powerful winds from a nearby hurricane and what scientists call a “flash drought” — a rapid-onset drought similar to a flash flood.
The fires have devastated the island of Maui and all but destroyed the town of Lahaina. There are also wildfires on the islands of Hawaii and Oahu that were quickly contained. 53 people have been confirmed killed by the Maui fire, and more deaths are likely.

The new Paramount+ movie, Love In Taipei explores similar themes to the show Xo, Kitty, or a much mellowed-down version of Crazy Rich Asians, for 21-year-olds in Taipei, Taiwan. The movie follows a girl named Ever Wong, who is having her last summer break before she goes off to do pre-med. Instead of letting her be, her parents decide to send her to Taipei for a summer program of more studying, while all she wants to do is let off some steam and participate in a dance audition. So, as you can imagine, Ever is the fish out of water who is completely against this trip, but soon enough, she finds reason to like it. You can read our full review of Love In Taipei, or you can read on for full spoilers.

The WGA marked 100 days on strike on Aug. 9 with well-attended picket lines in both New York and Los Angeles.
The crowd was larger than usual outside Netflix in Los Angeles, where strikers had set up a balloon sign spelling out “100” to mark the occasion. “At 100 days, there’s no dip in commitment. There’s no dip in enthusiasm for doing what’s right,” said Nicole Yorkin, a member of the WGA negotiating committee. “I am so proud of our members. Whatever happens, we’re going to be here until we get what we want.”
There was also a sizable crowd at Paramount, down the street. Shawn Wines, a strike captain, said the day was an opportunity to show appreciation for the unity of the membership. “Nobody wants to celebrate that it’s been this long,” Wines said. “We want to appreciate each other, and the community that’s happening out...

The Primetime Emmys are not necessarily known for honoring projects featuring casts that are primarily minority/people of color. The TV academy has never, for instance, given the Best Drama Series trophy to such a show. The statuette for Best Comedy Series has been won by a series featuring a largely minority cast precisely once: “The Cosby Show” in 1985. But the category of top limited/anthology/miniseries has paid golden tribute to programs with mostly minority casts a handful of times before, helping give Netflix’s “Beef” with its predominantly Asian American lineup a genuine shot to take home the biggest prize.

Happy birthday to Wong Kar-Wai. The Hong Kong auteur turns 65 today, the same day I say goodbye to 28 and welcome my 29th year –we're birthday twins! But of course, I've loved the director long before discovering we shared July 17th, having fallen for his cinema when I glimpsed Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung cross paths in slow-motion, saw the treacherous enchantment of a kitschy lamp lost in Buenos Aires, experienced a Nouvelle Vague color kaleidoscope to the sound of "California Dreamin'." It's only fitting to celebrate the date by pouring over some of Wong's most ravishing pictures, remembering his mastery as we mourn a decade since his last feature.
Join me as I consider three films Mubi has programmed specially for July, a collection they call As Time Goes By. A trio marked by lavish spectacle, they reach for the stars – a wuxia experiment, a sci-fi lament,...

The MCU is pretty dang low on Avengers right now, but one theory surrounding Marvel’s new Secret Invasion series is that it’s about to bring back a lost member of the Og team.
While it might seem pretty “out there”, the idea could solve a few of the MCU’s current issues, some of which arguably began when the 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame brought the Infinity Saga to a box office-slaying climax and killed off big hitters like Tony Stark/Iron Man and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.
The mantle of Captain America was passed from Steve Rogers to Sam Wilson, Bruce Banner went off to have some family-related Hulk adventures, and a massive new MCU saga soon got underway. Sam became the focus of his own TV series, as did Avenger Hawkeye, while Thor went on to lead another big budget movie in Thor: Love and Thunder,...

Although she went about it in perhaps the worst way possible, MI6 agent Sonya Falsworth did uncover some crucial information in the latest episode of Secret Invasion. Not only are the Skrulls here on Earth, but they have a plan to get stronger.
More palatable is the way that G’iah discovers similar information, tailing a fellow Skrull to a secret lab. There, she overhears scientists talking about a Harvest, complete with DNA from various creatures. Some of those creatures we recognize, such as the beloved Guardian of the Galaxy Groot and the Frost Beast battled by Thor. But you might need a quick refresher about the other two notable examples, the remains of an Extremis soldier and the arm of Cull Obsidian. More importantly, the secret lab and the samples raise a question: What is the Skrulls’ real plan?

During the early nineties in Hong Kong, the prolific screenwriter, producer, director and sometime actor Wong Jing made quite a number of crowd-pleasing action comedies which was a highly popular genre back then. Although wacky and action packed in nature, his films like “Tricky Brains”, “Royal Tramp”, “Legend of the Liquid Sword”, “Flying Dagger”, “Holy Weapon” and so on were commercially successful productions. Fast forward to 2011 and with a bigger Mainland budget, plus the help of two award-winning actors, Wong ws back and doing pretty much the same old thing. Set in White Horse Town, ancient China, “Treasure Inn” revolves around young Master Kung (Nicholas Tse) and Lo Pa (Nick Cheung), two lowly and underappreciated constables who work in the courthouse kitchen and laundry instead of doing proper investigating duties.

Jason Segel and Ali Wong say comedy is the best way to work through tragedy.
The stars are part of two of Apple TV+’s biggest series on the platform: “Shrinking” and “Beef” – which both manage to blend comedy and drama to effectively tell their stories.
It’s a strategy that Segel has been trying to perfect throughout his career, from his early days on “Freaks and Geeks”.
“I first saw [Segel] on ‘Freaks and Geeks’ on the VHS tapes that my boyfriend at the time’s father bought on eBay,” Wong recalled in an interview with Variety.

It’s no surprise that Jason Segel hit it off with Ali Wong, given their common backgrounds in comedy. And yet both performers don’t want to be boxed in by humor — they’re contenders in the Emmy race for playing characters who are far from happy-go-lucky. In Apple TV+’s “Shrinking,” Segel (also a co-creator on the show) plays a widowed father dealing with his monotonous life as a therapist, while Wong stars in Netflix’s “Beef” as a business owner caught in a game of revenge.

“George and Tammy” star Jessica Chastain has long been the front-runner for Best Movie/Limited Actress in our Emmy odds, a position she has maintained into June. But while several strong challengers have emerged in the category, one has positioned herself as Chastain’s biggest threat: Ali Wong in “Beef.”
“Beef,” about a feud that develops between two people (Wong and Steven Yeun) following a road rage incident, was originally expected to be a comedy series, but Netflix eventually revealed that it would be entered as a limited series instead. That caused it to soar in multiple categories in our odds, which are based on the combined predictions of thousands of Gold Derby users.

Toronto, June 15 (Ians) Researchers have used a new type of magnetic resonance imaging (Mri) to probe how Covid-19 can change the human brain.
The new imaging technique, known as correlated diffusion imaging (Cdi), was developed by systems design engineering professor Alexander Wong at University of Waterloo.
It was originally developed for detecting cancer. Cdi is a new form of Mri that can better highlight the differences in the way water molecules move in tissue by capturing and mixing Mri signals at different gradient pulse strengths and timings.
A team at Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest used the Cdi for Covid study on the brain.
Their findings, published in the journal Human Brain Mapping, showed that the Cdi imaging of frontal-lobe white matter revealed a less restricted diffusion of water molecules in Covid-19 patients. At the same time, it showed a more restricted diffusion of water molecules in the cerebellum of...
The new imaging technique, known as correlated diffusion imaging (Cdi), was developed by systems design engineering professor Alexander Wong at University of Waterloo.

“Beef” is shaping up to have a great year at this year’s Emmys. The searing, sizzling, sensational Netflix limited series is predicted to be nominated for at least five Emmys, according to our odds chart, but it could earn a whole lot more than that if key supporting players such as Joseph Lee get caught up in the sweep.
“Beef” follows Steven Yeun as Danny Cho and Ali Wong as Amy Lau — two people involved in an incident of road rage that they just can’t let go of. Over the course of the 10-episode series, the two get caught up in a deadly game of one-upmanship as they try to seek revenge and wreak havoc on each other’s lives, dragging themselves and those around them down along the way. One of those people is Lee’s George Nakai, Amy’s stay-at-home husband.

When asked to interpret the joint statement that the “Beef” cast and crew released last month — which says, “We’ve seen [Choe] put in the work” — Wong held back.
