For Jeff Nichols, The Bikeriders’ long road trip began with a handful of photographs. Among them in grainy black and white was a lone figure, captured in blurred motion and with his head turned away as he zoomed across the Ohio River. The only clear details were the leathered texture of his jacket and the gleam flashing off his Harley’s steel. When discovering this image and many like it in 2003, Nichols was in no way a motorcycle connoisseur. To this day, big bikes terrify him. But he instantly knew how the pictures—taken by New Journalism legend Danny Lyon between 1963 and 1967—made him feel. And he needed to express that sensation onscreen.

The Spiderwick Chronicles has once again returned to the screens to remind fans of the mesmerizing story of the twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace and the magical Spiderwick Estate. However, this time, the storyline has been helmed a bit differently to make it all the more interesting and exciting in the eight-episode miniseries from the mastermind creator, Aron Eli Coleite.
The Spiderwick Chronicles (2024).
Yet, even with the twists and turns setting all the more intriguing climacterics for the story, this series wanted to repeat one key element from the original film as well: Have one actor play the role of the twins just like the 2008 masterpiece did. But things had to unfold differently this time for the casting process, and the showrunner felt it all eventually turned out to be a win-win situation for them.

Christian Oliver looks to have completed filming his role in the movie thriller Forever Hold Your Peace before the German-born Hollywood actor died in a plane crash.
Nick Lyon, director of the indie that Oliver also had a producer credit on, could not be reached for comment by The Hollywood Reporter. But on Dec. 20, Lyon took a photo of himself and the late actor on their last day of production together that was posted on his Instagram page on Jan. 4, the day of Oliver’s tragic death.
“This is our 5th film together. @christianoliverofficial and me produced this one, and this is our last day of filming! We talked about producing a film together for years and finally did it! Thank you for being a great colleague, actor and friend @christianoliverofficial #foreverholdyourpeace,” Lyon said on the social media platform as he paid tribute to the late actor.

Christian Oliver (real name Christian Klepser), who starred in films including Speed Racer and Valkyrie among others, was killed Thursday along with his two young daughters when their small plane crashed into the sea off a Caribbean island. The owner and pilot of the plane, identified as Robert Sachs, also died in the crash. Oliver was 51.
According to authorities, the single-engine plane took off Thursday afternoon from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Bequia, a tiny island and part of the Caribbean nations of St. Vincent and Grenadines and was headed to nearby St Lucia when it crashed.
Among the dead were Oliver’s daughters, Madita Klepser, 12, and Annik Klepser, 10.
“Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft experienced difficulties and nose-dived into the ocean,” the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said in a statement provided to media outlets. “Fishermen and divers from Paget Farm went to the scene of the...

Bethesda Softworks and Marvel Games have announced that they’re teaming up with Arkane Lyon – the company behind Deathloop and the Dishonored series – to create a “mature, single-player, third-person” video game based on the Marvel Comics hero Blade! The game is, fittingly, called Marvel’s Blade – and an announcement video can be seen in the embed above, setting up the idea and giving a glimpse at what the Blade character might be like in the game.
Bethesda notes that Arkane Lyon has just started development on the game, which will feature an original story with the studio’s signature immersive gameplay and world-class narrative. Marvel’s Blade game will take players to a quarantined section of Paris in the middle of a supernatural emergency. Vampires have emerged, terrorizing the city of lights and forcing Parisians to shelter inside their homes at night to wait for sunrise.

Bethesda and Arkane Lyon have announced that they’re working on Marvel’s Blade, a third-person, single-player game based on the moody vampire hunter.
Not only is Marvel working on a feature film based on the vampire hunter, but Bethesda and Arkane Lyon are also working to bring the moody Blade to life in his own video game.
The project was announced at last night’s The Game Awards, where Baldur’s Gate 3 was named Game Of The Year as expected. On X, Bethesda described Marvel’s Blade as “a mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris.”
There was a short teaser for the game as well.

This article contains spoilers for Fargo season 5 episode 4.
Something festive, something spooky, something downright oogie boogie has been lurking around Fargo season 5 since its very first scene.
Flash back, if you will, to the opening moments of episode 1 “The Tragedy of the Commons.” The viewer is immediately thrust into chaos. Punches are being thrown at a meeting of the Fall Festival Planning Committee in Scandia Middle School. Look past the melee of writhing white Midwesterners towards to stage and what do you see? That’s right: crude plywood renderings of the iconic landscapes from the 1993 animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Later on, as Dorothy Lyon (Juno Temple) is being escorted out of the school, we see two Nightmare Before Christmas posters, confirming it as Scandia Middle School’s fall show.
Now, at the beginning of episode 4 “Insolubilia,” Fargo season 5 kicks its Nightmare Before Christmas appreciation up a notch. Not...

Joe Keery as Gator Tillman in ‘Fargo’ season 5 episode 4 (Photo Cr: Michelle Faye/FX)
Gator (Joe Keery) and his three minions make their move as FX’s Fargo season five episode four, “Insolubilia,” gets underway. The foursome splits into two twosomes and enters the Lyons’ home. Are they surprised to find the doors unlocked? Probably, but it’s impossible to tell because of their Nightmare Before Christmas masks.
Armed with tasers, knives, and guns – and half a brain between them – they slowly make their way through the house. Smoke pours out of the oven and Dot (Juno Temple) watches from inside a closet, waiting to launch her attack.
The tension ratchets up along with the action as the lights go out, a smoke alarm sounds, and a strobe light flashes. It turns out the strobe light’s coming from a plastic jack-o-lantern with a maniacal laugh. While one intruder’s distracted looking at the pumpkin,...

Ah, jeez, here I go again, getting hooked on the wackiest, weirdest spectacle of mirthful suspense that TV has to offer. No two seasons of Fargo are alike, except for their unpredictable inventiveness. Series creator Noah Hawley continues to flavor crime drama with humor and a taste for the bizarre, assembling another remarkable cast for a funky fable of survival in the chilly Midwest. Trading her British accent for a nasal Minnesota chirp, Ted Lasso’s marvelous Juno Temple is ferociously endearing as Dot Lyon, a happy housewife whose unhappy past rears up, unleashing the Lyon’s inner tiger. She’ll go to any length, however violent, to protect her daughter and gentle soul of a husband from the man who wants her back: North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman (Jon Hamm), a brutal evangelist of chauvinism who triggers a chain of bloody chaos when he tries to have Dot kidnapped.

Juno Temple is discussing her connection to one of horror's most iconic locations.
The Ted Lasso alum appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night and opened up about her childhood.
In one of the most surprising interviews in Jimmy Kimmel's history, Temple revealed that she grew up in the original Michael Myers House from the Halloween movie.
"So my parents were living out here, and I was born actually in the U.K., but then I came back here until I was about 5," she dished.
"And I actually grew up in, this is an interesting place to grow up, my parents bought a house without realizing until Halloween came around, and there was a tour bus that it was the original Michael Myers house from the Halloween movie!"
Temple said she didn't really understand the location's past because she was five years old.

Snow coats the ground as far as the eye can see on a chilly March morning in Calgary, but it’s a regular work day for the team behind FX‘s Fargo, which films in the Canadian province of Alberta. A perfect stand-in for the anthology’s Midwestern setting, TV Insider was on location for the Year 5 shoot of Noah Hawley‘s Emmy-winning series as it puts Juno Temple at the center of the latest story alongside Jon Hamm and David Rysdahl. The Ted Lasso actress is trading in her spunky fashion-forward Keeley Jones for Dot Lyon, a Minnesota housewife who attends Pto meetings, reads bedtime stories to her daughter Scotty (Sienna King), and has a bit of a past that is going to stir up some trouble. “You see it through her journey of protecting her family,” Temple told us alongside other reporters on set. “She does not want...

When we think about the cultural upheaval of the United States in the 1960s as depicted on screen, the focus tends to be on one of three places: Los Angeles, New York, and the American South. These places were where change regarding politics, race relations, societal mores, and art were most visible. But change was happening all over the country. It just was manifesting itself in different ways, even amongst groups of people you wouldn't expect to be going through any kind of evolution.
Jeff Nichols' last film, 2016's "Loving," tackled one of the most consequential events during this time period, chronicling the couple at the center of the Supreme Court case that made anti-miscegenation laws illegal. While that sounds like it could head straight into a pool of sentimentality and pandering inspirational drama, Nichols makes that film a true character piece about two people who just really love each...

The past is always present in Fargo, Noah Hawley’s anthological adaptation of the Coens’ 1996 black comedy of the same name — not only is each season a period piece, but you can usually count on at least one main character’s prior actions influencing the storyline. Season 4 of the FX comedy-drama, which starred Chris Rock, was particularly concerned with how a family’s history becomes intertwined with that of a town.
So, it’s not entirely surprising to learn that Season 5 will see Dot Lyon’s (Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple) past come back to haunt her in 2019, disrupting her perfectly nice marriage with Wayne (David Rysdahl), the son of Lorraine Lyon (Jennifer Jason Leigh), also known as “the Queen of the Debt.” Based on the trailer, there’s a lot in store for the Lyon family and the self-righteous (to put it mildly) lawman who won’t let Dot slip through his fingers again.

The long-awaited fifth season of Fargo has an official trailer.
Below is a detailed look at the new season of showrunner Noah Hawley’s crime anthology series, which has Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) leading an ensemble cast.
The new installment is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in the most modern period for the franchise yet: 2019.
The (very lengthy) official description reads: “After an unexpected series of events lands ‘Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon’ (Temple) in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind. North Dakota Sheriff ‘Roy Tillman’ (Jon Hamm) has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law. At his side is his loyal but feckless son, ‘Gator’ (Joe Keery), who is desperate to prove himself to his larger-than-life father.

Tracing the evolution of a fictional motorbike gang known as the Vandals, writer-director Jeff Nichols’s The Bikeriders takes its inspiration from a photobook of the same name by influential mid-20th-century photographer Danny Lyon. A major contributor to the “new realism” photography movement, Lyon lived alongside his leather-clad petrolhead subjects for months at a time, helping him create urgent, spontaneous images of their outlaw lifestyle that oozed authenticity. Unfortunately, those latter qualities are in short supply in the film, but the sheer exuberance of the story and the stylistic brio of Nichols’s direction often compensate.
The Bikeriders is narrated by Kathy (Jodie Comer), the girlfriend of fiercely committed young Vandals member Benny (Austin Butler). She relays the idiosyncrasies and transgressions of the gang from a slight remove as it evolves from a blue-collar fraternity and surrogate family to a nihilistic crime syndicate. As endearing as Kathy’s disapproving bemusement can be,...

The latest film from acclaimed director Jeff Nichols, ‘The Bikeriders’, has received a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, the popular review aggregator website. The film, which stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon and Mike Faist, is a thrilling drama about a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who embark on a cross-country road trip in the 1960s.
The film is inspired by the iconic photography book of the same name by Danny Lyon, who documented the lives and culture of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Nichols, who also wrote the screenplay, said he wanted to explore the themes of freedom, rebellion and identity that Lyon captured in his images.

Jeff Nichols’ filmography is still young, and still showing no signs of settling in to a stylistic signature — or rut. Through such distinctive features as Take Shelter, Loving, Midnight Special and Mud, the writer-helmer has, though, established a certain directorial integrity. Valuing mood and gesture over plot or formula, his stories are propelled by an openhearted but unsentimental tenderness toward his characters, and invigorated by electrifying grace notes.
With his latest offering, the gloves, at first, seem to be off. The Bikeriders is set within a testosterone-fueled counterculture where brute stupidity frequently prevails, and many viewers will find its violence and code-of-honor brotherhood distancing, or at least familiar movie territory. But what resonates beyond the brawls and blood is a profound affection for the people onscreen — those grace notes provided by a fine cast, with Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy stirring undercurrents that are particularly affecting precisely because they’re never explicitly examined or explained.

Filmmaker Jeff Nichols seemed positively thrilled while introducing his new film “The Bikeriders” to the Telluride Film Festival patrons on Thursday afternoon, and it is easy to see why. The project, Nichols’ first as a director since 2016’s “Loving,” is about an American biker gang in the 1960s, and the propulsive and entertaining drama owes as much to films like “Goodfellas” and “A Bronx Tale” as it does to the Danny Lyon book of photographs and interviews that inspired Nichols to write the script.
“I’ve always tried to find a universal theme in my films,” Nichols said in a director’s statement. “The idea being that if you have a universal thought at the core of your story, it is possible to make a very personal, regionally specific film that feels totally unique to a specific time and place that still resonates with a broad and diverse audience. ‘The...

Sydney, Aug 5 (Ians) Australia’s veteran spinner Nathan Lyon said he still doesn’t value England’s Bazball style of playing and its sustainability at the Test cricket level, citing the two matches he played against them before a calf injury ended his time in the Ashes, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
“I know everyone keeps talking about BazBall, to be honest, I didn’t really see BazBall… throughout my two Tests against them. I’m 2-0 in my Tests against BazBall… I look at the Australian cricket team and the batters we’ve had, David Warner for example… I’ve seen him score hundreds in a session… and that’s off playing an attacking brand of cricket.”
“I think there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors with BazBall, if I’m being honest with you, and I feel like if you’re going to play an aggressive brand of cricket anyway,...

At the Renegades, Lyon will be teaming up with Australia’s regular white-ball leg-spinner Adam Zampa. Lyon was a part of the 2019-20 title-winning Sixers side, and his new deal with the Renegades will keep him at the club till the end of the 2025-26 edition of the competition.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the Melbourne Renegades. (Marvel Stadium is) a place where I enjoy bowling, it tends to spin a little bit. I’m looking forward to hopefully joining up with ‘Zamps’ in a really good partnership and putting a show on for the Renegades fans.”

If you’ve been left in a gaping void by the end of Succession, don’t despair. The Hollywood Reporter has another 11 series to watch for those desperate for a dysfunctional family drama fix. The below titles (along with where you can stream them) include more epic siblings battles, snarky dinner table banter and unpredictable plot twists. Dive into these series for the thrill of family backstabbing, corporate double-dealing or simply for the maladjusted — and wealthy and/or powerful — bringing out the worst in one another, typically (except for a few aspirational exceptions).
Yellowstone (Peacock) John Dutton (Kevin Costner), with children Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Jamie (Wes Bentley) in Yellowstone.
Giddy up and go west with Paramount Network’s Yellowstone (which streams on Peacock) because similar to the media power hungry Roys in Succession, the Dutton dynasty saga floats on its own land-grabbing soap suds. And it also can be perceived as ending too soon,...

London, June 9 (Ians) Australia continued to remain ahead in the World Test Championship final by extending their lead to 296, despite a superb Indian fightback led by Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur on a riveting day three’s play at The Oval, here on Friday.
When Ks Bharat was bowled through the gate by Scott Boland in the first over of the morning session, the fear of being bowled out quickly loomed large over India. But Rahane and Thakur fought hard to capitalise on Australia’s inconsistent bowling, as well as slices of luck coming via no-balls and sloppy fielding.
Rahane and Thakur shared a superb 109-run partnership off 145 balls for the seventh wicket to lead a superb fightback for India and avoid the ignominy of follow-on. Rahane, playing in Test cricket for the first time since January 2022, shined on his comeback with a splendid 89, his 26th half-century in the format.

“I was at the premiere of The Little Mermaid a couple of weeks back,” says Kean Almryde, a marketing manager at Disney. “Scuttle, the bird in the cartoon version, was a seagull. In the new movie, it’s a northern gannet. I’m like, ‘What’s that about?’ So I did a little bit of research. I made a TikTok video explaining the decision behind changing Scuttle from a seagull to the northern gannet that ended up going viral! It has like 420,000 views.”
The reason for the change? Animators wanted more underwater scenes, and unlike the air-bound seagull, a northern gannet can dive around 70 feet underwater. This research dovetailed perfectly with Almryde’s passion for birding, which was sparked during the pandemic and he says provides a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. “You’re forced to slow down,” he says. “You’re forced to listen, pay...

New Delhi, June 5 (Ians) Australian spinner Nathan Lyon praised teammate Cameron Green’s progress which has been accelerated by his impactful stint in the 2023 Indian Premier League (Ipl) and his four-month spell in India during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series finale.
Green scored his first Test century during his maiden Test tour of India earlier this year, scoring 114 of just 143 balls in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad in March.
He completed the Ipl as arguably the tournament’s standout Australian player, finishing with an average above 50, a strike rate of 160 and a 47-ball hundred that sealed Mumbai Indians’ playoff spot.
Praising Green’s recent Ipl campaign and maiden Test hundred against India, Lyon said that the all-rounder’s demeanor within the team has undergone a transformation adding that he is gradually shedding his reserved nature and becoming more outgoing.

New Delhi, June 5 (Ians) Ricky Ponting has urged India to include both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin with the former playing primarily as a batter at No. 6 for the Icc World Test Championship Final.
The Indian spin duo emerge as crucial players after they showcased exceptional skills when India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-1 series triumph over Australia earlier this year.
The last time India toured England in 2021-22, Jadeja was preferred over Ashwin for all five Tests. The all-rounder had minimal impact with the ball in that series, taking six wickets at an average of 56.16 but he compiled 287 runs which included a ton in the rescheduled fifth Test last year.
It is Jadeja’s talents with the bat, rather than the ball, that former Australia skipper Ponting believes could be critical to his spin partner Ashwin being included in the India XI for the Wtc Final.

Dubai, May 31 (Ians) Former England skipper Nasser Hussain has picked only one specialist spinner in the combined Test XI he would select from the two teams set to meet in the World Test Championship final.
Hussain could find room for only one tweaker in a combined Test XI ahead of their rematch in the Icc World Test Championship final in London.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took a combined 47 wickets as India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on home soil, while Australia spinners Nathan Lyon and newcomer Todd Murphy were also a threat with 36 scalps apiece.
Lyon (81) and Ashwin (61) were also among the leading wicket-takers across the Wtc cycle, but only one spinner from the two teams could earn a spot in the former England skipper’s combined Test XI.
“If the World Test Championship Final was in the subcontinent or India, I might go Jadeja at six. But I’m not,...

CBS is expanding its representation and inclusion programs to launch a new “CBS Performers with Disabilities Talent Initiative.” The plan, which starts with the upcoming 2022-2023 TV season, is to make sure the Eye network’s programming includes “meaningful representation and inclusion for all underrepresented groups, including performers with disabilities in series regular, guest star or co-starring roles in current series and pilots, playing characters specifically written with a disability as well as roles that do not specify one.”
The new initiative comes following the 2019 Ruderman Family Foundation campaign to increase the audition opportunities for performers with disabilities and improve the portrayal of disabilities in television. CBS was the first network to sign that pledge, to increase the number of roles that cast actors with disabilities.
