There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...

The move comes on the heels of the company also giving a pilot order to Browsers, a live-action single-camera comedy from writer David Javerbaum and 3 Arts Entertainment. Supa Natural, produced by Underground Films, centers on two outspoken divas who happened to be humanity’s only line of defense against the supernatural… just so long as they’re not busy shopping at the mall. Lily Sparks, Price Peterson and Ryan Sandoval wrote the script and executive produce with Underground’s Trevor Engelson and Josh McGuire as well as Kristen Schall and Jason Micallef. Amazon Studios signaled its entry into original series in May when it announced its plans to develop comedy and children’s programming. In addition to pilots from professional writers,...

New York -- Josh McGuire, a young manager who counts Black List scribe Jason Micalleff among his clients, has joined Trevor Engleson and Nick Osborne's Underground Management.
McGuire comes from Washington Square Arts, where he repped a host of lit clients, including Micalleff, the writer behind "Butter." That script was the third-ranked screenplay on last year's Black List and is set up at Mandate with Jennifer Garner attached to star.
McGuire had been at the boutique Washington Square Arts for three years. Underground reps up-and-comers such as "War of Gods" scribes the Parlapanides brothers as well as the Hageman brothers, who are writing Warner Bros.' new Lego project.
The company also counts "License to Wed" and upcoming Robert Pattinson drama "Remember Me" among its producing credits.

To paraphrase Brando: Get the "Butter."
So said Mandate when it optioned "Butter," rookie scribe Jason Micallef's original comedy screenplay. Jennifer Garner is attached to star and possibly produce with Michael De Luca.
Late last year, Micallef scored the one-two punch of winning a Nicholl Fellowship and landing the third slot on the unofficial Black List of 2008 with his political satire set in the small-town world of competitive butter-sculpting.
De Luca Prods. exec Alissa Phillips brought De Luca the script, and Garner and Juliana Janes of Vandalia Films are in negotiations to serve in some producing capacity. Mandate president Nathan Kahane will executive produce.
Craig Gillespie and Gary Ross are among the directors circling the project.
