It’s been 20 years since Jimmy Eat World’s breakthrough Clarity, but the band is quietly releasing music that stands up to its endearing early emo-rock work.
An example: “Love Never,” a song that was released as a seven-inch in 2018, which the band — frontman Jim Adkins, touring multi-instrumentalist Robin Vining, and percussionist Zach Lind — opened with during its recent appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.
With manic energy, big harmonies, and a message about the consequences of love, the song could have been on 2001’s Bleed American. But the...

Ryan Hurd is no newbie in the world of country music. As a songwriter, the Michigan native has written hits for the best in the business, including Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley and Tim McGraw, just to name a few.
So what could be next for a guy who’s already celebrated a No. 1 single and is dating country music’s hottest leading lady? An album of his own, of course.
“I love writing songs for other people and it’s an honor when someone records your songs,” Hurd, 32, told People. “But I’ve done a lot that you can do...

Tim Heidecker has released a brand new anti-Donald Trump song titled “Mar a Lago.” In his latest jam, the comedian and musician sings from President Trump’s perspective. The song begins, “Well, I’m sitting behind my desk in Washington, D.C./And everyone on cable news is yellin’ at me/And there’s only one place in this whole wide world I wanna go/That’s down underneath the Florida sun in Mar-a-Lago.”

Anticipation for 2017’s major festivals is at an all time high, with Coachella‘s lineup serving as the holy grail of the entire season. We’ve already heard some rumors about the alleged headliners, while DJ Khaled inadvertently spilled the beans on his slot at the festival. Now we have another enticing update to ponder with a list that attempts to predict the entire lineup.
A website called TravelGrom has consistently made predictions about Coachella lineups in the past with a high degree of accuracy compared to the average rumor, and they’ve just offered up their projections for 2017. While the information is just conjecture at this point, TravelGrom predicted last year’s lineup with 64% accuracy. If that figure holds true again, over half of the list will wind up on the official lineup.
The alleged lineup includes a diverse array of styles, with representation from Edm, Rock, Rap, Pop and everything in between.

For nearly 30 years, a mysterious guy from Colorado has created a massive body of recorded telephone conversations that deserve far better than to be called “prank phone calls.” Longmont Potion Castle is more of a running absurdist art project that explores the psyche of everyone from unsuspecting homeowners to Orange Julius employees to Alex Trebek. The fan base for Lpc is small but dearly dedicated: I’ve been listening to (and writing about) his calls since the ’90s, and I can have entire conversations in Longmont quotes with fellow fans.
Though Longmont Potion Castle has some well known admirers in the entertainment world—from Jimmy Eat World to Rainn Wilson—it always seemed destined for deep underground status. The calls are too weird to catch people’s ears quickly; it takes a few minutes to find the hypnotic rhythms of a man pretending to be an insistent Ups driver ...

With their new songs, Jimmy Eat World are proving that they’ve still got it in terms of quality. After over a decade of albums, you’d think we’ve seen it all from them, but as years go by, they continue to pull new and interesting things out from their sleeves. The band is dropping their ninth full-length album, Integrity Blues, on October 21st, and to celebrate, they just released a video of them performing their single, “Sure and Certain,” acoustically.
“Sure and Certain,” which debuted back in August, is arguably one of the best lead singles that Jimmy Eat World has ever had, formulating a rock sound around bigger pop sensibilities. The acoustic version strips down the song entirely, and brings it back into a setting that the band has always managed to strive in. With great harmonies and a pitch perfect performance by frontman Jim Adkins, this...

Jimmy Eat World gave us a taste of their new album last week when they dropped the first track “Get Right,” but now they’re making everybody hungry for more upon the release of another new jam, “Sure And Certain.”
“Sure And Certain” will act as the proper lead single for the band’s upcoming record, Integrity Blues, and it’s got the perfect formula to become a radio rock hit. Granted, it’s certainly no “The Middle,” and Taylor Swift probably won’t be lip-syncing this one in an Apple commercial anytime soon, but with a catchy, soaring chorus and nostalgic melodies, it’s yet another notch in the group’s belt of great songs.

As someone who’s been forced into the all-night-raving world of Edm (Electronic Dance Music) by proxy, I’m no stranger to Steve Aoki. Roommates and friends alike have filled my apartment with stories about the cake-throwing wild-child, coupled with their desires to one day be “caked” themselves (why waste a good cake, if you ask me).
This is how I entered Justin Krook’s Netflix documentary I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, with a frosting-covered caricature of the generational powerhouse and his performance-focused talents. Not his father’s pseudo-abandonment. Not his hardcore, angsty rock beginning. Just a crowd-surfing ball of fun who hits play with the best of them – an admittedly ignorant view on a man with so much more to say.

Jimmy Eat World are back with their first new song since 2013’s Damage, and it comes in the form of single “Get Right.” The track is taken from the rock band’s forthcoming full-length, which is expected to see a release on October 21st.
“Get Right” packs a similar punch that listeners expect from Jimmy Eat World singles, featuring a foot-stomping chorus and addictive guitar riffs. Along with a lyric video for the song, the band is giving away a free download for it on their official website.
While no title for the upcoming album has been revealed just yet, retailers from overseas have seemingly listed the new record up for pre-order under the title Integrity Blues. The moniker would make sense, as it was also the name of a song that frontman Jim Adkins performed live during his solo tour last summer.

In the director’s statement included in the press notes to It’s Only the End of the World, Xavier Dolan says he considers his sixth feature to be his “first as a man.” Manifestly tired of being called a wunderkind, the 27-year-old follows up his Jury Prize-winning Mommy with an adaptation of the play by Jean-Luc Lagarce. The solemnity aspired to in tackling this contemporary variant of the prodigal son parable is evident, and Dolan delivers a strident transposition of the stage piece to the screen. And while he does, to an extent, stifle some of his more adolescent instincts in comparison to earlier films (e.g. Laurence Anyways and Mommy), Dolan generally appears to have mistaken maturity for joylessness.

One of the greatest parts of attending any concert comes in seeing what surprising covers might adorn the performer's setlist. Take Jimmy Eat World. It's doubtful fans in attendance at the band's Tuesday night show at Cleveland's House of Blues expected to hear Jimmy Eat World rip through Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Adkins also performed a cover of Swift's "Love Story" alongside a young girl with cancer...

Jimmy Eat World are a unifying band. They have fans from all sorts of musical persuasions. They enjoy patronage from Indie kids, skin-headed hardcore elitists, Skate-punkers, arty Post-Hardcore types, Metal-heads and mums and dads.
Everyone’s favorite Emo band hail from Arizona and have been together for twenty years now, releasing numerous albums and Ep’s. Such is their broad appeal that they have toured with the likes of Green Day, Weezer, Taking Back Sunday, Blink 182, New Found Glory and many more.
This month saw the release of their eighth full length record, ‘Damage’, and of course, it is superb.
Let’s look at just five of the many reasons why we love Jimmy Eat World.
5. They Look Like Regular Dudes
They’ve sold a couple of million records, played pretty high up on major festival bills, toured the world, regularly sell out their own headlining shows and graced magazine covers.

Jimmy Eat World stopped by NME's offices (lucky ducks) to chat about their upcoming set at the Download Festival and play some tunes. One of the songs they chose -- for better or probably worse -- was Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)."
Lead singer Jim Adkins avoided Rihanna's epic, soaring vocals and instead opted for a significantly simpler approach. The result is a bit deflating, but we'll leave it to you to judge. Take a look above.
Jimmy Eat World's new album, "Damage," was released Tuesday and has received generally positive reviews. "Damage" was produced by the band and Alain Johanness, who has worked with the likes of Chris Cornell. It was recorded at Johannes' home studio in Los Angeles.
Rihanna, on the other hand, has been enjoying her Diamonds World Tour, luxuriating at the once home of Coco Chanel hanging out with designers and posting countless selfies on her Instagram.

It was truly a surprise to see the number of new songs that came out this week by old familiar acts, such as Nine Inch Nails, Goo Goo Dolls, and Jimmy Eat World. Classic metal band Black Sabbath returned with their new album 13, and Jack Johnson brought his familiar sound back to the airwaves. Comedy act, The Lonely Island, also returned with a new album of their own. There were numerous new releases with some disappointments and some surprises.
Rounding out the week’s new releases include a new single by electronic artist Kaskade, a new single from the alternative duo The Civil Wars, a new album from metal act Black Veil Brides, a new single from alternative group Grouplove, and another Big Time Rush album that sounds the same as every other one they have done (I usually don’t start reviewing until the next page, but I could...

It’s that time of year again, and Download Festival is almost upon us. I don’t imagine many of you need much by way of an introduction to Download, but for those who require the down low on Download; it’s the UK’s premiere rock and metal festival, having been host to many of the biggest and best in both genres, and their subgenres, alongside nurturing numerous up and comers.
Moshing into its eleventh year, Download hasn’t even hit its teens yet, but has seen more debauchery, moshpits, breakdowns, frenetic solos and unwashed hair than most – this year will be no different. This will actually be my first visit to that there Donington Park, and seeing as I’m back into my Things You Should Be Listening To Stride, I thought I’d honour the occasion by pointing any lucky attendees in the direction of some bands...

Somehow during the indie rock influx, the tongue in cheek charm of Vans Warped Tour bands got ousted from the 21st Century rock genre. In case you’ve never been to the festival, Warped Tour is typically infiltrated by the self-deemed rebels of high school. Outfits, such as Paramore, AFI, The Academy Is…, Bayside, Bowling For Soup, Thrice, The Starting Line, Something Corporate, Jimmy Eat World, Jack’s Mannequin and Good Charlotte, have all donned the stage at least one time in their career. Lately, the punk rock sub-category has been on the bench and the trendy ways of hipster rock has been at the forefront of the music scene. Everyone loves [ Read More ]

Gearing up for their first album since 2010, Jimmy Eat World have released a fresh single entitled "I Will Steal You Back."
The song starts out softly but bursts into a rollocking chorus that's in keeping with the band's familiar sound. "I Will Steal You Back" will first be released as a 7-inch single in conjunction with Record Store Day on April 20. The vinyl release will also include a cover of Radiohead's "Stop Whispering," from that band's 1993 debut album "Pablo Honey."
"I Will Steal You Back" is the lead single off Jimmy Eat World's upcoming album, "Damage," which is slated for a June 11 release.
"I hate saying more raw, but it's more raw and warm," lead singer Jim Adkins told Rolling Stone about the new album. "I would describe it as an attempt at making an adult breakup record."

Add this to your growing list of records to look out for: Jimmy Eat World's "Damages," the band's seventh studio album, will be released on June 11.
The project comes after 2010's "Invented" and will be the band's first on RCA.
A press release for the record included a tracklist of 10 songs (see below). "Damage" was produced by the band and Alain Johanness, who has worked with the likes of Chris Cornell. It was recorded at Johannes' home studio in Los Angeles.
"We used tape for the first time in a long time, as well as computer," singer-guitarist Jim Adkins tells Rolling Stone. "I hate saying more raw, but it's more raw and warm. We just set up all around Alain's house. There were instruments in his bedroom and drums in his living room. Just noise all day long. There was less an emphasis on it being clean and perfect.

As most of North America and the world watched, Hurricane Sandy put a huge dent into the day-to-day life for millions along the Eastern seaboard. While West Virginia was getting hammered with a severe snowstorm, New York City and the surrounding areas were nailed with high winds, heavy rains and high waves which caused devastating flooding and destruction. And some of the musicians in the area were directly affected by what transpired.
According to TMZ, New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg posted a 43-second video of his apartment was completely flooded. In the video Wahlberg and a friend can be seen sloshing through his apartment picking up items which are floating in the kitchen, including cereal bowls.
"So much for bacon. My entire building is under a foot of water," Wahlberg tweeted as the storm continued overnight. "Awesome neighbors all banding together to help each other! Stay safe!

Like most period dramas on television, the Canadian series "Bomb Girls" (which premiered on ReelzChannel last night and airs Tuesdays at 10pm) doesn't inhabit its timeframe so much as it wears it like a habit. Set during World War II at a Toronto factory that manufactures bombs, it takes a setting specific to its moment in time -- a workplace in which women were recruited to do jobs that were before the fighting the domain of men -- and layers on swing music, pretty costuming and issues of race, gender, nationalism and class that all managed to nearly intersect with our four main characters. It's a tendency that never fails to be a little jarring, like having a series set in 2002 that starts off with a character in mourning for someone lost in 9/11, listening to "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World while watching the Utah Winter Olympics and wearing a "Monsters,...

It was Anne Bancroft. "All of a sudden, Mel Brooks (the late Bancroft's husband) walked in and says, 'How ya doing, kid? Happy New Year!' " Sands says as he beams at the memory.
That was also about the same time Sands realized he wanted to be an actor.
