When the opening scene ended with a pretty cool and gory death, in what was a traditional but fun slasher film build-up, my hopes were kind of high. It feels like we have had very few new slasher movie villains to get excited about. Of course, Michael Myers, Chucky, Ghostface and more are still going strong but other than Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise, no one seems to have lasted for more than one movie in more recent times. So when Randy Couture is standing tall as Hank, giant axe in hand, things were looking up. But the movie doesn’t quite pan out the way I was expecting.
The Bell Keeper follows a group of friends, including two brothers, who travel to a campsite at Lake Bell.

The Bell Keeper opens on a reasonably strong note for what appears to be an indie slasher. An axe-wielding figure, we’ll later find out his name is Hank, dispatches a pair of victims and adds their driver’s licenses to the collection on his cabin wall. The only as to why, “You shouldn’t have rung the bell”.
This happens at Lake Bell which, as the newspaper headlines under the credits tell us, has a long and evil reputation that includes lots of brutal deaths and mysterious disappearances. So of course filmmakers Gabriel, and Matthew want to make a documentary about it.
So they, along with their girlfriends Megan, Holly, and Liam Matt’s little brother who happens to own a camper,...

Feig was presented the honor on Monday night as part of Nato’s annual fall meetings at the Beverly Hilton, attended by more than 200 exhibitors.

You know how they say that money is the root of all evil? Well, let us tell you that family is not far behind. Blood is only thicker than water because of the density of the troubles caused by these bastards. Case in point: the new terror tale As Night Falls.

We've been in touch with director Joe Davison who is a huge fan of the Pa genre and he offered to pass off some exclusive stills from his homage to the old days which is currently still in production. As most of you know, we heavily cater to this genre and we're greatly looking forward to this throwback to the old days.
The story concerns Dr. Felix Copper, a scientist in a postapocalyptic world attempting to find a cure for the radiation poisoning that has blighted the planet. He runs into a couple of survivalists and then a supermodel-turned-weapons expert, and together they battle vicious mutants to try to save mankind.
Stills are after the break mixed in with other stills we previously reported on.

Writer/director Joe Davison (100 Tears) is working with Timo Rose (Beast) on this old skool sounding Pa flick we reported on back in January. There's still several more weeks of shooting including some up in NYC, but word is they'll have a trailer for soon. In the meantime, you can check out their myspace.

Writer/director/actor Joe Davison got in touch with an update and a few exclusive photos (which you can see below) from his new feature Experiment 7, which we previously reported on here and is currently lensing in the Tampa, Florida area. The saga of scientists and survivalists vs. mutants in a postapocalyptic world reteams him with numerous collaborators from his previous 100 Tears, as well as his Fearmakers and Beast co-star Timo Rose.
“The shoot is going well,” Davison tells us. “Candice Rojas, who plays the heroine Aco, is getting quite a workout having to do full-on fights and stunts and fire Ak-47s, hand pistols and a rocket launcher or sorts. She told me, ‘I’m excited! I called my mom after I fired the Ak for the first time,’ after what we have dubbed ‘the extraction scene.’

Joe Davison, star of 100 Tears (review), Fearmakers and more indie horrors, has just announced his debut as both writer and director. It’s called Experiment 7 and will feature a virtual who’s-who of the indie scene, including directorial pieces shot by two other well-known indie horror helmers.
First, some plot: Dr. Felix Copper is a dedicated scientist who has vowed to save mankind. And in the post nuclear world he just might be its only hope. While traveling through the devastated ruins of city after city he teams up with two unlikely heroes, Sam and William, two survivalists who have made it a habit of saving him from the onslaught of mutants that constantly get in their way. It isn’t until they meet Aco, a supermodel turned weapons expert, that they realize their full potential and really start to get the upper hand. Now Dr. Copper just may be...

With news of Cirio H. Santiago's throwback to 80s post apocalyptic fare Road Raiders comes something not unexpected seeing as Pa films are now en vogue. According to Fangoria, Joe Davison (100 Tears) will write and direct Experiment 7 which starts production in March. Davison will star along with filmmaker Timo Rose, Rod Grant, Raine Brown, Jack Amos, Candice Rojas, Dwight Cenac, and Alan Rowe Kelly.
Thanks to Avery for the heads up.
Stay tuned to Quiet Earth because we've got a real doozy on a piece of Pa news for you tomorrow.

Joe Davison, writer/producer/star of the killer-clown opus 100 Tears and actor in numerous other independent genre flicks, sent along word about a new project he has written and will direct called Experiment 7. The cast is a Who’s Who of familiar faces from indie fright fare.
Davison will also appear in the film alongside Tears co-stars Rod Grant, Raine (Barricade) Brown and Jack Amos, plus Candice Rojas, Dwight Cenac, actor/filmmaker Alan Rowe (The Blood Shed) Kelly and German goremeister Timo Rose, with whom Davison shares the screen in Fearmakers and the upcoming Beast. The story concerns Dr. Felix Copper (Grant), a scientist in a postapocalyptic world attempting to find a cure for the radiation poisoning that has blighted the planet. He runs into a couple of survivalists (Davison and Cenac) and then a supermodel-turned-weapons expert (!) played by Rojas, and together they battle vicious mutants to try to save mankind.

All right, a werewolf story! No one told me Timo Rose’s follow-up to Barricade was a freakin’ werewolf story! It’s called Beast, and today a source close to its production sent us a look at the film’s poster and some behind-the-scenes shots from the set, which you can feast upon below!
In Beast, the lovely Raine Browne stars as Amy, a young woman dealing with the unwanted return of her brother, Alex (Joe Zaso), who comes back with more than the usual amount of baggage; he’s now carrying around a lycanthropic curse. Joe Davison (100 Tears) stars alongside Rose himself as werewolf hunters hot on Alex’s trail. There are also cameos by Night of the Living Dead’s Judith O’Dea and Gravedancers director Mike Mendez!
Of course, as with all werewolf films the look of the titular beast will be the hinge upon which the...
