Paul Reubens was able to complete a draft of his memoir before his death, his publicist confirmed to CBS 42, an affiliate based out of Birmingham, Alabama.
Reubens’ publicist, Kelly Bush Novak, issued a statement to the station yesterday, following news of the actor’s death. ”He finished a first draft,” she said. “We are hoping it will be published posthumously.” No other details were given.
Novak’s confirmation that Reubens had finished a draft of the book comes several years after the Pee-wee Herman creator first started chatting about the memoir.

If you're a big movie or TV fan, there are few greater joys in this world than kicking back with a hot pizza, a fizzy drink, and a big awards show to yell about. The Academy Awards are my Super Bowl. The Emmys are my World Series. For many years, the Golden Globes were sort of like the All-Star Game, where the outcome didn't really matter but a huge showing of superstars and a lot of fun, silly fan service were almost guaranteed. The Globes, hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), used to kick off the movie and TV awards show season with a boozy, occasionally unhinged bang, feeling more like a party than any other awards show. The problem, unfortunately, is that the party was a place where awards could be bought with bribes and diversity was in short supply: In 2021, the Los Angeles Times published an...

A funny thing happened on the way to reforming the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The entertainment industry started imagining the permanent demise of the corrupt 79-year-old cabal of Hollywood correspondents. While some publicists, talent, and distributors consider the January Golden Globes telecast as a vital link in the awards ecosystem, others are rooting for the HFPA to disappear forever.
Back on February 25, 2021, under pressure from NBC, which broadcasts the annual Golden Globes and is trying to negotiate down the 8-year 500-million TV rights deal signed in 2018, the beleaguered Hollywood Foreign Press Association vowed major change. NBC canceled the 2022 Golden Globes show to allow the HFPA time to institute a long list of reforms, which began taking shape in April 2021. Also holding the group’s feet to the fire was a consortium of publicists and Amazon, Netflix, and Warner Media, which refused to supply talent for interviews until long overdue reforms were made.

A bonfire of vanities is blazing around the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, as the mid-year mark approaches and discussions intensify over the fate of the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. Will the first big stop of awards season make a triumphant return in January? Or will NBC refuse to air the show, and ice out millions of viewers looking to see tipsy celebrities accept their prizes?
When the Globes were boycotted last year after a Los Angeles Times expose revealed that the HFPA — the group of international journalists who vote for the winners — didn’t have a single Black member, it was framed as a one-time punishment. But now that the organization (composed of 98 active and 3 emeritus members) has been knocked down, not everyone in Hollywood wants to help them get back on their feet.

Christopher Nolan found himself at the center of an unexpected social media controversy last summer after a report surfaced claiming the “Inception” and “Tenet” filmmaker bans chairs from his sets. The news ignited outrage from several film critics, with many condemning the rule as ableist. The report was shut down by Nolan’s representative, but now comes word directly from Zack Snyder that he banned chairs from the set of his Netflix zombie epic “Army of the Dead.”
Appearing on The Playlist’s “Fourth Wall” podcast, Snyder shared the following while discussing how he pulled off directing the movie and serving as its cinematographer and camera operator: “There’s no sitting down, like, I banned chairs from the set. But the nice thing is, it’s really intimate. I can just talk to the actors right there, I’m not back in a monitor across the room. It was definitely...

Last Wednesday an email chain started to circulate around Hollywood’s press agencies, who represent many of the entertainment industry’s top stars. Over the decades, some veteran publicists were getting sick and tired of the demands of The Hollywood Foreign Press, that coterie of about 90 foreign correspondents who originally banded together to get access to movie stars and eventually came to believe they were friends with them.
The HFPA launched the Golden Globes in 1944, and this past season came under fire after the latest in a series of muckraking newspaper stories over the years exposing their susceptibility to exotic junkets and excessive swag, cozy relationships with publicists, and their myopia about diversity within their membership ranks. After refusing to hire a diversity consultant, the HFPA went ahead and recently put some advisors on their payroll, announcing at the Golden Globes, which were an anemic affair this year, that they would make changes.

Ellen Page and Paris Berelc have boarded gaming comedy “1Up,” with Kyle Newman directing in what could be the first feature film for BuzzFeed Studios.
Berelc will portray a gamer who quits her college esports team due to sexism from her male counterparts. To keep her scholarship, she’s forced to assemble an all-female team and enlists the help of a coach — portrayed by Page — who has a gaming scandal in her past.
The script is written by Julia Yorks. BuzzFeed’s Richard Alan Reid is producing along with Michael Philip and Jason Moring. Production is expected to begin in Toronto in November.
Page stars in the Netflix series “Umbrella Academy” as Vanya Hargreeves. She was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for 2007’s comedy-drama “Juno” and has credits on “Inception,” “Tallulah,” “Whip It” and portrayed Kitty Pryde in “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Christopher Nolan does not ban chairs from his movie sets, a spokesperson for the director has confirmed to IndieWire. Social media buzz over an alleged chair ban on Nolan’s sets erupted June 29 after Variety published an “Actors on Actors” video interview between Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman in which the former complimented Nolan’s decision not to allow chairs on set. Hathaway has appeared in Nolan’s blockbusters “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Interstellar.”

Lauren Sivan, an on-air reporter for Fox’s Kttv in Los Angeles, says the station sidelined her after she came forward last October to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct.
Sivan told TheWrap in an exclusive interview that she was stunned by her treatment at the station after her bombshell account that Weinstein masturbated into a plant in front of her at a restaurant in New York City in 2007. “I just felt like the station that I put my heart and soul into for seven years just used it as an excuse to get rid of me,” she said.
The veteran broadcaster said she worked three shifts per week for Fox 11, covering a variety of stories — until HuffPost published her account. In the nine months since then, Sivan said she has worked a total of six shifts at Fox 11 — her last time appearing on air was February 20.

The very act of Dani Weinstein (no relation to Harvey or Bob) and Sara Serlen abandoning The Weinstein Co now when the indie appears to have some decent Oscar contenders speaks volumes. (I hope ID PR makes sure those Weinstein Co checks clear before it starts repping those indie films for awards season.) Then again, TWC can't fool all of the people all the time, and its financial troubles have endlessly haunted what's left of its employees after so many layoffs and resignations. My personal kudos to both Dani and Sara: they always kept their cool in the middle of some very tough questioning from me over recent months. Their news is below. Endgame Entertainment is financing writer-director Ron Nyswaner's Freeheld, based on Cynthia Wade's Oscar-winning documentary short about New Jersey car mechanic Stacie Andree (Page) and her detective partner’s struggle to obtain pension benefits after she is diagnosed as terminally ill. The feature has lined up Juno star Ellen Page (Gawker's shameless headline: Ellen Page is a Lesbian). Endgame's James Stern (Every Little Step) will produce with Wade, Double Feature Films’ Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher and Vie Entertainment’s Kelly Bush. Coming up for Page is Chris Nolan's Inception, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, due this July, and she just completed shooting James Gunn's Super. But will she be available to do David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? She's still my first choice, if they don't go with an unknown European. And Carey Mulligan is so good in Wall Street 2 that I might go along with her after all.

When Cynthia Nixon goes nude, it's not for political reasons or to make a big statement.
The "Sex and the City 2" star opened up in the June/July issue of The Advocate about her big-screen nude scene in the original film, confirming that going topless didn't have anything to do with her struggle with breast cancer.
"They didn't know about it at the time," Nixon says. "Generally, my thoughts are, if they ask me to do [a nude scene], I'll do one. I mean, I won't do [just] anything, but I feel like if [director/producer] Michael Patrick [King] wants me to do it, there's a reason he wants me to do it."
Regardless, at 44, Nixon looks great, especially in these Advocate photos.
The actress also discusses coming out, which was far, far easier than she expected. A few months into dating, Nixon could tell there was speculation about her relationship with Christine Marinoni, her now-fiancee.

The site, in addition, let out an e-mail response from director Guillermo del Toro himself, who simply wrote "Its not true, gordito-". Sounding off similar denial to the story was The One Ring.
