A few New Yorkers had no reservations about pummeling their former mayor, Rudy Giuliani, as he came down the streets with his security.
The former personal lawyer for Donald Trump has seen better days in the city that never sleeps.
A Twitter post showcases a video of the incident, and writer Tara Dublin quoted one of the insults: “‘Giuliani! You’re a piece of s—!” I love New Yorkers.”
Giuliani could be heard being given the “eff” multiple times, as another called him “a fascist whore.”

Jan. 6 committee Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) alleged that Trump took direction from an “inebriated” Giuliani and falsely declared his victory when the timing was still far from appropriate to make a judgment call.

A man who hit Rudy Giuliani on the back in a Staten Island, N.Y. store will have his charges dismissed if he doesn’t commit a crime for six months.
Giuliani had tried to cause an uproar over the situation, saying the touch was “like somebody shot me” and that he almost fell over in one TV interview, but prosecutors didn’t seem to agree.
Giuliani was at the ShopRite supermarket in support of his son Andrew Giuliani‘s bid to be the Republican nominee for Governor of New York in the upcoming election. Andrew wasn’t able to mine enough support from his dad’s stint as New York mayor and failed to secure the nomination, which went to U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin.

A hoarse and angry Rudy Giuliani decried the downgrading of charges to misdemeanors in the Staten Island slapping incident, saying he felt as if “a boulder hit me” at the supermarket. Video showing the suspect backslapping Giuliani is “a little deceptive,” the 78-year-old former Trump lawyer said.
See the video below.
Suspect Daniel Gill was arraigned today in Staten Island Criminal Court on misdemeanor charges of Assault in the Third Degree, Menacing in the Third Degree, and Harassment in the Second Degree, and released on his own recognizance by Judge Gerianne Abriano. The next court date is August 17, according to Ryan Lavis, communication director for the Office of the Richmond County District Attorney.
Gill initially was charged on Sunday with second degree assault.
“Yesterday, I was in Staten Island getting ready to campaign for my son. I hadn’t started yet,” Giuliani said during press conference on Facebook. “I went to the men’s room,...

Rudy Giuliani had a very tough weekend, and he’s mad Fox News isn’t doing more to let the world know about it.
Giuliani claimed on Sunday that he was “assaulted” while in Staten Island supporting his son Andrew Giuliani’s New York gubernatorial campaign. That “assault,” video later revealed, amounted to a clapping the former mayor heartily on the back while verbally criticizing him, but the man was arrested anyway and charged with second-degree assault, a felony. His charges were later downgraded.

Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Lelio is wasting no time getting his next project into theaters — or at least distributor Bleecker Street isn’t. Just over a month after his last film, A Fantastic Woman, took the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, his latest, Disobedience with Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz rolls into theaters, only days after its Tribeca Film Festival bow. The film joins a pretty packed lineup of new Specialties that will go head to head with Disney’s sure-fire Avengers installment. Sundance Selects is rolling out French filmmaker Claire Denis’ Let the Sunshine In with Juliette Binoche, one of a few foreign-language offerings this weekend including Grasshopper Films’ drama Ava by Sadaf Foroughi. Shout! Studios is opening The House of Tomorrow by Peter Livolsi with Asa Butterfield, Nick Offerman and Ellen Burstyn in several markets, while Cleopatra Films is opening Daniel Jerome Gill’s music-romance, Modern Life is Rubbish.

"Where's all this coming from?" Cleopatra has unveiled an official trailer for an indie romantic drama titled Modern Life is Rubbish, which played at the Edinburgh and Hawaii Film Festivals last year. The film is about a young couple on the verge of breaking-up. Brought together by their shared love of music, initially it was "opposites attract", but this didn't work for them long-term. Making the difficult decision to separate, they must split their prized music library. "But the sound track that defined their relationship keeps pulling them back together." Aww. Modern Life is Rubbish stars Freya Mavor and Josh Whitehouse as Natalie and Liam, with a cast including Tom Riley, Ian Hart, and Jessie Cave. This seems like a very smart, emotionally devastating look at modern love - and how complex it is. I also quite like the poster - see below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for...

If Nick Hornby had considered structuring High Fidelity like 500 Days of Summer, the outcome might look something like the smart, music-centric British romantic comedy Modern Life is Rubbish. Daniel Jerome Gill's lighthearted debut feature will certainly appeal to pop culture geeks as well as indie-movie lovers once it scores a U.S. release or shows up on hipster-skewing streaming services.
The title of Gill's film originates with Britpop superstar group Blur's 1993 album and represents the worldview of anti-corporate London rock guitarist Liam (Josh Whitehouse), who refuses to use a cell phone or stoop to social media lest he contaminate...

Olivia Thirlby, Jorge Garcia, Cloris Leachman, Dan Gill, Corey Holcomb, Colin Kane, Jenifer Lewis, Alan Ritchson, Ignacio Serricchio, Aaron Takahashi, and Nicky Whelan are all set to join Jeremy Garelick's comedy "The Wedding Ringer" starring Kevin Hart.
Previously referred to as the "untitled Kevin Hart comedy," Josh Gad and Kaley Cuoco, Mimi Rogers, Affion Crockett and Ken Howard also star in the project which just began production.
Garelick and Jay Lavender ("The Break-Up") penned the script in which Hart plays a charismatic guy who provides best man services for socially challenged guys who can't get somebody to agree to stand by them on the day of their wedding.
Gad plays a groom-to-be who finds himself in that situation. Trouble is, he has fabricated not just the best man's name but nine groomsmen as well. He then seeks out Jimmy’s services to carry out the charade.
