Doja Cat, aka She of the Many Spiders, has sadly let the sun to set on one of the quirkiest album rollouts in recent memory — even by Doja standards — with the release of Scarlet, her fourth LP. The 15-track album, which includes the singles “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red,” “Demons,” and “Balut,” is out now.
But what a web she wove to get to this point.
In May, she started tweeting things like “scarlet was here” and “scarlet’s watching” and “let myself heal, scar finally sealed.” She topped that...

Doja Cat has released a new single, “Balut.” The mid-tempo, brag-tinged song is latest track to emerge from her forthcoming LP, Scarlet, out Sept 22 via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records.
“Glass houses, I don’t really like to keep my stones there/ Oh, well, I’ll buy another property for four mill,” Doja Cat intones on the track. “The only problem that I havе and I’ll be so real/ I hit the stagе and lose the crystals on my toenails.”
Doja Cat has been hyping Scarlet over the past month.

Doja Cat has been unleashing her demons all summer.
The Grammy-winning artist released the third single from her forthcoming Scarlet album on Friday, and brought in Nineties scream queen Christina Ricci to help usher in the accompanying music video.
Like Doja’s recent work, the visual for “Demons” is a stunning flex of macabre with homages to 1982’s Poltergeist and that one unforgettable, truly terrifying bathtub scene from The Shining. Ricci — who’s played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family, Katrina van Tassel in Sleepy Hollow, and more recently, Samantha Hanratty...

Doja Cat is has fixed the cover of her latest album.
Earlier this week, the American rapper revealed the cover art for her latest album, Scarlet, but some were quick to notice a very striking similarity to another recently announced album.

The album art for Scarlet featured a purple spider with a droplet in front of it over a white background.
But as some noted, the artwork bore a striking similarity to the cover of German metal band Chaver’s new album Of Gloom, out Sept. 22.
Indeed, the cover of Chaver’s album, which was announced in late July, features a nearly identical image of a purple spider.

Pop star Doja Cat has changed the artwork to her upcoming album Scarlet, presumably after learning that the original image was nearly identical to one on a forthcoming LP from German metal band Chaver.
Doja Cat’s new LP, Scarlet, due September 22nd, originally featured a painting of a pinkish arachnid with a drop of blood above it (see above). Chaver’s new full-length, Of Gloom, also due September 22nd, depicts the same arachnid (with its legs in slightly different positions) but with a more circular dot and their band name above it.
It appeared that both images are from the same artist, Dusty Ray, who either committed the cardinal sin of supplying two music acts with basically the same artwork or somehow cleared the near-duplicate image with both Doja Cat and Chaver. Or, perhaps, there was something fishy going on?

Doja Cat’s new album, Scarlet, is already getting a makeover. Shortly after posting cover art for the album that showed a pink spider with eight arms to hold you, she removed it from the web a day after announcing it. Now, the album features not one but two arachnids — and this time they’re kissing. Dusty Ray, who’d created the original spider image, also created the double spider image, a gouache watercolor painting titled Venatrix.

Doja Cat and the German metallic hardcore band Chaver likely have a lot in common (a total rejection of normal society, for instance), but today, the gossamer thread connecting the two artists is the image of a pink spider with a gem-like drop of pink blood in its chelicerae. Slight variations of the arachnid, designed by artist Dusty Ray, appear on the covers of each artist’s new album.
Doja Cat debuted her artwork, which features the spider and no type-treatment (other than the obligatory “Parental Advisory”), on Instagram on Tuesday,...

After spending much of the past few months warring with her fans, Doja Cat may finally be ready to share a peace offering: Her new album, Scarlet, which arrives Sept. 22.
The pop star confirmed the release date for her highly-anticipated new record on Instagram. She didn’t share any specific details, but did drop the album’s compelling cover art — a nasty looking, scarlet-colored spider staring down a drop of blood. However, the art appears to share similarities to another cover by German metal band Chaver.
