Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall has been charged with second-degree assault after his arrest last weekend (05/06Dec09) for allegedly attacking a pal with a broken bar stool.
The former child star allegedly beat Michael Trujillo in the face with a splintered chair during a night of heavy drinking at his friend's Colorado home.
After concerned local residents called authorities, Bonsall was booked at the scene - only for cops to realise he had been wanted for more than a year after missing a court hearing in 2008.
He had allegedly violated terms of his probation stemming from an assault on his girlfriend in 2007.
Bonsall, best known for playing Michael J. Fox's little brother on the hit '80s sitcom, is currently being held in Boulder County Jail on $7,500 (£4,687) bail.
He faces up to six years behind bars if he is convicted of assault.

Family Ties actor Brian Bonsall was arrested on Saturday after allegedly attacking a pal - only for police to realise he's been wanted for more than a year for another crime.
The former child star, who played Michael J. Fox's little brother on the hit '80s sitcom, is said to have hit Michael Trujillo in the face with a splintered bar stool during a night of heavy drinking at his friend's Colorado home.
Concerned neighbours alerted authorities, who booked the 28 year old at the scene despite his claims he had no recollection of the brawl, according to the Colorado Daily.
A police report obtained by the publication reads, "Bonsall said that he and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs. Bonsall said that he takes a lot of drugs and sometimes those drugs make him forget things."
Officials then discovered Bonsall has been wanted since July 2008 after he failed to appear at a hearing for allegedly violating his probation, linked to a 2007 assault charge.
He is currently behind bars at Boulder County Jail.

Anyone who watched "Family Ties" back in the day probably could have predicted that if any member of the Keaton Family was going to wind up in trouble, it would be little Andy. After all, he wasn't really a necessary element to the otherwise well crafted show, and as far as adorable kid actors went, he didn't hold a candle to Rudy from "The Cosby Show" or Ricky Schroder on "Silver Spoons." And now 27 years later, Brian Bonsall has fulfilled that prophecy. Grown up Andy (now with a butterfly tattoo on his throat), was arrested last night for hitting his friend Michael Trujillo with a broken bar stool. The police report allegedly states, "Bonsall then said that he and Trujillo both are bipolar and like drugs," according to the report. Sounds like a deadly concoction for a washed up child star. Sha la la la. Read the full story here.
