Nicholas Stewart had an incredible year in 2023. The streamer known as Jynxzi overtook Kai Cenat‘s record by attracting more than 100,000 active Twitch subscribers. He also inked sponsorship deals and signed with management firm Right Click Culture for representation in all areas.
No matter how you slice it, Jynxzi is one of the biggest names in the Twitch world, but that wasn’t always the case. Before Stewart emerged as the most famous Rainbow Six Siege player on the internet, he languished for years in almost total obscurity.
Stewart began streaming consistently in 2019, but his efforts didn’t move the needle for years. Dexerto, citing data from Sully Gnome, noted that the Jynxzi account averaged one viewer per stream in 2019. In the following years, his audience increased somewhat, but he didn’t really take off until 2023. At the start of the year, Stewart’s peak monthly Twitch viewership hovered around 5,000 concurrents.

After being saved by the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell on “New York Night,” Medusa was on a mission to prove she deserved her spot in Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer” finale. She clawed her way back into the competition, taking out Gargoyle and Mantis in the “Battle of the Saved.” Next, the snake-headed songstress belted her way through the “Quarter Finals (British Invasion Night)” and sent home California Roll in the “Semi-Finals,” the quintet that originally defeated her.
With just Macaw standing between Medusa and the Golden Mask trophy, she wowed panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger with performances of “Elastic Heart” by Sia and “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance. She said after the latter, “This means so much to me, and, the fact that I got to end my journey with my sister’s favorite song, and,...

It was déjà vu for David Archuleta on Wednesday night’s finale of “The Masked Singer.” The 32-year old performer who had been masquerading as Macaw all season finished in second place to Medusa, the same position he landed on Season 7 of “American Idol” when he lost to David Cook. His emotional journey of self-discovery ended with performances of “Hold Back the River” by James Bay and “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen. Panelists Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong correctly guessed the musician’s identity, but Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg were off the mark.
“We knew we were coming on this, going out of our comfort zone and doing something different,” David told host Nick Cannon during his unmasked interview. “I didn’t know it was going to be so much fun. It’s just been healing being able to be the Macaw.”

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9, episode 14 season finale of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 17 on Fox.
Like a river, Bishop Briggs kept a steady flow throughout Season 9 of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” — and her perseverance was rewarded with the championship. Briggs, as Medusa, won this season’s top prize and was finally unmasked on Wednesday night’s finale, along with runner-up David Archuleta, revealed as the Macaw.
Briggs, who performed the most of any contestant this season, sealed her victory with performances of “Elastic Heart,” by Sia, and “Welcome to the Black Parade,” by My Chemical Romance. Although Briggs said singing under the Medusa costume was a challenge, she pointed out that it was nothing compared to what she did last year.

Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer” was a three-way Battle Royale! After their rendition of “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson, California Roll was shockingly eliminated in third place behind. Macaw and Medusa will face off in the Season 9 finale next week. Panelists Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg weren’t fooled by the Grammy-winning quintet wearing sushi masks, but Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger were both off the mark.
“People know us for our a cappella harmonies, but to do it and rearrange stuff with instruments was a really fun opportunity to do something we’ve never done before,” the group told host Nick Cannon during their unmasked interview. “Our strategy was to be as creative as possible and take a song and totally flip it so you would hear it in a way you’ve never heard it before. Pentatonix is pretty easy to recognize, as perhaps the best-known a cappella group performing today. So from the start, it was pretty easy to tell it was them on “The Masked Singer” – and indeed, the five-person group was unmasked as California Roll on Thursday’s show, which also doubled as the Season 9 semifinals.
For their first song, “Paparazzi,” group member Scott Hoying said they tried to avoid doing any harmonies at first, “so we could hide the iconic Pentatonix harmony sound for at least a minute. For the first minute, I was trying to really change my voice. But it didn’t work, because every comment on every video was like, ‘I knew from the beginning it was Pentatonix and I was confirmed as soon as they all came in.

It was “Masked Singer in Space Night,” but “The Masked Singer” could have also been celebrating “’90s Night.” That’s because the two celebrities unmasked on Wednesday’s episodes were both TV stars from that era: Melissa Joan Hart (of “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” fame) and Alicia Witt. Hart was revealed to be Lamp, while Witt was Dandelion.
Witt had won the previous week as Dandelion, but her journey ended here. For Dandelion, panelist Ken Jeong guessed Witt right. Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Milla Jovovich. Robin Thicke went with Sara Bareilles and Nicole Scherzinger named Zooey Deschanel.
For Lamp, McCarthy Wahlberg, Thicke and Scherzinger all got it right with Hart. Jeong went rogue with Michelle Williams.
