Nibbler the Nibblonian first appeared on "Futurama" in the episode "Love's Labours Lost in Space", wherein Leela (Katey Sagal) assumed he was a poor, lost animal that merely needed a home. She put an adorable red cape on him and outfitted him with a diaper. Nibbler had a voracious appetite and could consume many, many, many times his own body weight in pork products in a single day. Nibbler would then poop out perfectly round spheres of solidified dark matter that, quite conveniently, could serve as starship fuel.
It was later revealed that Nibbler was, in fact, Lord Nibbler, an impossibly ancient being -- born around 274 Bce -- who could speak in a clear, deep voice. He belonged to a species that possessed fleets of tiny, adorable warships and who were occasionally kidnapped and farmed for their fuel-pooping abilities. For years, whenever someone saw Nibbler speak, he could activate his...

Comedy is a funny thing. Just as no philosopher has ever been able to reach a definition of "art" that wasn't immediately challenged and exposed as insufficient by another philosopher five seconds later, no universally successful attempt has yet been made to take stock of what makes humans laugh, how that can be achieved through media, and what the rules for said media might be. We're still, by all accounts, making sense of the social phenomenon of laughter. And yet, no one needs to have read Terry Eagleton's "Humor" to understand when something is funny and react accordingly. There's something just ineffably, atavistically immediate about good comedy -- something that could still be enduring 1,000 years into the future.
Such is the appeal of most futuristic sci-fi comedy, but especially so of "Futurama," arguably its greatest 21st-century exponent. The Matt Groening-created animated sitcom managed to get seven great seasons...

One of the most acclaimed animated series returns to the air this summer.
Hulu announced Thursday that its revival of Futurama will take flight on Monday, July 24, 2023.
One new episode will be available on the premiere date, followed by one a week, every Monday until Futurama Season 11 is over.

Initially canceled in 2003, the series returned in 2007 for four direct-to-dvd movies before returning as an ongoing series.
It was canceled again in 2013, and now, we're preparing for fresh episodes ten years later.
Hooray, right?
"After a brief ten-year hiatus, Futurama has crawled triumphantly from the cryogenic tube, its full original cast and satirical spirit intact," Hulu's description reads.
"The ten all-new episodes of season eleven have something for everyone."

Good news everyone! “Futurama” and the delivery workers of Planet Express are returning to us this summer. The revival season of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen’s cult classic sci-fi animated series will premiere on Hulu on July 24, Disney announced Thursday. To accompany the news, a teaser for the new season, christening the revival “Hulurama,” has been released. Watch below.
Originally a Fox series that debuted in 1999, “Futurama” has had a long and bumpy shelf life, with the new Hulu season marking the third revival for the animated series over the course of its existence. After getting canceled by the brainless drones that run the network in 2003 after four acclaimed seasons, the show eventually returned in the form of four TV movies released across 2008 and 2009, which were eventually split into four episodes each and counted as their own individual seasons. A Comedy Central revival premiered in 2010 and lasted two...
