According to hosts Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey, the success of Love Is Blind may be due to it being a throwback to an old-school style of dating.

Love Is Blind fans are going to get a big update on the cast of season 3 soon. But some might wonder what Zanab Jaffrey has been up to since leaving Cole Barnett. Here is what she said about dating the week before Love Is Blind: After the Altar was released.
Zanab Jaffrey dumped Cole Barnett on ‘Love Is Blind’
Season 3 showed Dallas singles dating in the pods. Zanab and Cole made a deep connection in the pods, talking about their past and their hopes for the future. Cole proposed to her, and she said yes.
Outside of the pods, they clashed over cleaning, Cole telling Zanab she wasn’t his usual type, and more. On their wedding day, Zanab said she wasn’t sure if she’d marry Cole or not. She ultimately left him at the altar and told everyone she deserved better.
At the reunion, Zanab made more claims about Cole mistreating her.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Love Is Blind Season 3 finale and reunion.] Women were demanding accountability in the Love Is Blind Season 3 reunion, streaming now on Netflix. Months after their weddings ended in either joy or heartbreak, the season’s 10 stars met with Nick and Vanessa Lachey to look back on their time in the experiment. And it wasn’t just their own relationships the women commented on. Alexa Alfia and Raven Ross, still with their pod partners Brennon Lemieux and Sk Alagbada, made sure to bring up the moments off camera where they felt Bartise Bowden and Cole Barnett mistreated their fiancées, Nancy Rodriguez and Zanab Jaffrey. Nancy and Zanab spoke strongly for themselves throughout the reunion, and TV Insider spoke with all four from these pairs about these conflicts. Bartise rejected Nancy at the altar in the Love Is Blind Season 3 finale, saying he couldn’t get past their “issues” about abortion, Nancy...

Season three of "Love Is Blind" ended with its highly anticipated weddings episode (released Nov. 9), which finally reveals which couples said "I do" - and "I don't." For as many happy moments viewers saw with Alexa Alfia and Brennon Lemieux and Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton tying the knot, there were just as many heated ones fans didn't expect - mainly between Zanab Jaffrey and Cole Barnett. The former's intense speech at the altar ended with her walking out on her partner and shutting down any possibility of the two continuing their relationship. It's one of many moments that Barnett tells Popsugar were "extremely hard" for him to watch.
"I'm not going to sit here and try to right all of my wrongs, but I certainly don't agree with the things even I said."
"I really don't want to watch [the show] a second time just because of some of the things I saw,...

Netflix's "Love Is Blind" is even more untraditional than most dating shows in the last decade. The premise of the reality TV social experiment is fairly simple in theory. Hopeful singles try to find love (not at first sight) in "pods" that hide their physical appearance so they can test if love is truly blind. If a contestant finds their person, the pair gets engaged and, at the altar, decides if they will really tie the knot and live happily ever after. Sounds easy, right?
While each "Love Is Blind" contestant starts their love journey dating in the pods, most of the show (at least what makes the final cut) follows the engaged couples in the real world. It means that only about two episodes are reserved for pod dates. In that short span, "Love Is Blind" contestants get to know each other before they start exchanging "I love yous" and marriage proposals.

Turns out, the final five couples on "Love Is Blind" season three weren't the only ones who found love in the pods. So far this season, viewers have only gotten to know Zanab Jaffrey and Cole Barnett, Raven Ross and Sk Alagbada, Bartise Bowden and Nancy Rodriguez, Colleen Reed and Matt Bolton, and Alexa Alfia and Brennon Lemieux (and briefly Andrew Liu) as the show chronicles their love journeys. But what about the couples we didn't get to see on camera?
When asked about the other off-screen "Love Is Blind" pairings on season three, Bowden told Popsugar that outside of the proposals shown in the pods, there were two other unnamed couples who almost took that big step, too. "There were six proposals shown on camera - the final five plus Andrew who proposed as well," he says. "There were two others, that were not proposals, but two couples that...
