While they recorded over a dozen studio albums, only two of their songs are widely well known: "Born to Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride".
The group started out in Toronto as the Sparrows. After landing a deal with Columbia Records, they spent time in New York and then went out west to the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles, where they broke up and reformed as Steppenwolf.
