Slipknot donned 1999-style red jumpsuits and masks for their first concert of 2024 on Thursday (April 25th), kicking off a year-long 25th anniversary celebration of their classic self-titled album. The show also marked the masked metal act’s first gig with its new drummer, presumed to be ex-Sepultura stickman Eloy Casagrande.
The club show at Pappy & Harriet’s Palace in Pioneertown, California, was booked as a warm-up gig for Slipknot’s co-headlining set at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas on Saturday (April 27th).

At one point during the concert, frontman Corey Taylor exclaimed, “Tonight it doesn’t matter where you came from, it doesn’t matter when you were born. This year is 19-fucking-99. We’re going to play you some songs from beyond that year, but goddamn it, it all started in ’99 and it is starting again here tonight.”

Two weeks after Conan O’Brien’s triumphant return to his former home at 30 Rock, another homecoming of sorts is set to take place on his old show.
Drummer Jay Weinberg, who currently serves as drummer for crossover thrash band Suicidal Tendencies, will sit in with Late Night with Seth Meyers’ 8G Band next month.
Under the musical direction of Fred Armisen, The 8G Band frequently invites artists to sub in for Armisen on drums. Other recent guest drummers have included Fall Out Boy’s Andrew Hurley, No Doubt’s Adrian Young, and Mudhoney’s Dan Peters.
Weinberg’s presence on Late Night creates something of a full-circle moment for the franchise. His father, Max Weinberg, was the drummer and bandleader for O’Brien’s house band.

Slipknot have revealed that they’ve begun rehearsing with a new mystery drummer.
The band teased the replacement for Jay Weinberg in a social media post, sharing an image of a broken drum stick with the word: “Rehearsal.”
To no surprise, fan speculation is at a fever pitch, with many convinced that Weinberg’s replacement is Eloy Casagrande based on the Promark drum stick seen in the social media post (Casagrande’s brand of choice). The timing does align, as Casagrande recently exited Sepultura in rather abrupt fashion just weeks before the Brazilian thrash band embarked on its farewell world tour.
Slipknot and their new drummer have just over a month to hone the setlist. The band is set to play its first gig of 2024 on April 27th at Sick New World in Las Vegas, followed by appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12th and Sonic Temple in Columbus,...

Drummer Jay Weinberg, who was let go from Slipknot late last year, has become a member of veteran crossover-thrash band Suicidal Tendencies. He will begin playing shows with them next week.
It was previously announced that Weinberg would be drumming with the reunited Infectious Grooves, featuring Suicidal Tendencies singer Mike Muir and Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Now, he’s joined Muir’s main band, which previously featured Greyson Nekrutman, Brandon Pertzborn, and the legendary Dave Lombardo among its recent drummers.
In an Instagram post captioned “You Can’t Bring Me Down” (a Suicidal Tendencies song), Weinberg wrote the following about joining Suicidal Tendencies:
“When I think of the culture and community of heavy music that I’ve loved and considered my creative home for 20 years, I think of Suicidal Tendencies: a foundational pillar and source of inspiration ever since I fell in love with punk, metal, and hardcore. Having toured...

Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has wasted no time finding a new gig, as he’ll be playing drums for a reunited Infectious Grooves on the funk metal band’s 2024 concert dates.
Just three months after Weinberg was let go from Slipknot — leaving him “heartbroken and blindsided” — the drummer is joining a rhythm section that includes Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, who formed Infectious Grooves in 1991 alongside his then-Suicidal Tendencies bandmate Mike Muir.
So far, only two US shows in Garden Grove, California, on March 23rd and 24th at the Garden Grove Amphitheater have been announced — plus a string of Australian dates in late March and early April. Tickets to the US dates are available via StubHub, where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program. The Australian shows can be purchased at this location.

A new line of Slipknot Funko Pop! figures has been announced, and somewhat surprisingly, the line features ousted drummer Jay Weinberg.
The Weinberg fig is among six in the new collection, which also includes Slipknot founder Shawn “Clown” Crahan, guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson, bassist Alessandro “V-Man” Venturella, and percussionist Michael “Tortilla Man” Pfaff. The set arrives in March 2024.
The inclusion of Weinberg comes after the band made the “creative decision” to part ways with the drummer in November. Weinberg later said he was “heartbroken and blindsided” by his removal, ending a near-decade stint in the band that began in 2014 and encompassed three studio albums.
It would appear that the Funko Pop! figurines were already in production before the personnel change. Even the figure’s description is outdated and still reads in the present tense: “Light up your music collection with Jay Weinberg, the drummer for the heavy metal band Slipknot!

Drummer Jay Weinberg revealed on Sunday (November 19th) that he underwent surgery on both his hip and femur this past Tuesday (November 14th). The stickman insisted that the medical procedures were long planned, and not related to his firing from Slipknot earlier this month.
Weinberg shared a photo of himself on crutches via Instagram, explaining that he had scheduled the surgery knowing that he had an extensive break in his touring schedule, even had he remained with Slipknot. The band’s next show is scheduled for April at Las Vegas’ Sick New World festival.
His full post reads as follows:
“This Tuesday, after three years of careful planning, I underwent an outpatient procedure to repair the torn labrum of my left hip and shave down a misshapen part of my femur — a condition that never impacted my drumming in any way, but I’ve wanted to take care of during...

Jay Weinberg received a tremendous amount of support from fellow musicians upon being let go from Slipknot, but not from his former Against Me! bandmate Laura Jane Grace. The singer-guitarist mocked the drummer’s ouster from the masked metal band, even calling him a “little bitch boy.”
The cantankerous relationship between Grace and Weinberg dates back to the drummer’s stint in Against Me! and eventual departure from the punk band. Weinberg was a member of Against Me! from 2010 to 2012, and when he joined Slipknot in 2014, Grace tweeted, “Dear Slipknot, good luck with that. #shitbag.”
In another series of tweets at that time, Grace wrote, “We once had a drummer who sprained his ankle and wanted our tour manager to call 911 and have an ambulance come for him #entitlement. When our tour manager said no the drummers Daddy called him and scolded him saying the drummer was a ‘star’ and...

A week after he was let go by Slipknot, drummer Jay Weinberg has broken his silence via an emotional social media post. The musician says he was “heartbroken and blindsided” by the band’s decision to fire him.
Last Sunday (November 5th), Slipknot announced, “We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

Nils Lofgren Is in the E Street Band and Crazy Horse — and He Still Found Time to Make a New Solo LP
In the early months of the pandemic, Nils Lofgren didn’t know what to do with himself. The guitarist had been on the road since the Sixties, when his band Grin took off, and in the years that followed he’d launched many solo tours between stints with Bruce Springsteen in the E Street Band, Ringo Starr in the All Starr Band, and Neil Young in the Santa Monica Flyers, the Trans Band, and Crazy Horse.

New York, May 20 (Ians) The 100-year-old tuberculosis vaccine Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (Bcg) vaccine may likely reduce risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, suggests a study.
The Bcg vaccine offers multiple beneficial effects, and it’s currently a recommended therapy for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
The findings, published in Jama Network Open, revealed that treatment with the Bcg vaccine was associated with a 20 per cent lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
The protective association was greater in patients aged 70 years or older, and also reduced risk of death.
Researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital (Mgh) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Bwh), followed 6,467 individuals for up to 15 years after they were diagnosed with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
The group included 3,388 patients who underwent Bcg vaccine treatment and 3,079 who served as controls, matched by factors such as age, sex, and medical comorbidities.

After a two-hour-plus main set that slammed home themes of mortality and impermanence and the way of all flesh, Bruce Springsteen reemerged on Madison Square Garden’s stage Saturday night, April 1, for his usual lengthy encore, and announced “something special for New York City.” He pointed over at Soozie Tyrell, who began a dead-on recreation of one of rock’s few canonical violin melodies, over piano from all-time-great arpeggio purveyor Roy Bittan. They eased the E Street Band into the 11-minute-long, 48-year-old mini-rock-opera “Jungleland,” played and sung with enough muscle...

A veteran producer and sales agent once told me that, for a billion dollars, anyone could buy their way into the Oscar race for Best Picture. In recent months, that prediction proved altogether generous.
While not a Best Picture contender, Andrea Riseborough’s performance in “To Leslie” demonstrated the potential of DIY campaigning to chart a surprising path into a major Oscar category. Controversial or not, and despite all the potential campaign violations it raised, Riseborough’s Best Actress nomination got the attention of other established actors who work on low-budget movies with limited resources. As one veteran awards consultant told me this week, “People are now going to say, ‘Where’s my Andrea Riseborough campaign?’”
The answer to that question requires some meticulous number-crunching as well as ample chutzpah. The Oscar race is often a Trojan horse for cinema that would go otherwise unrecognized by the U.S. industry,...

Three days after Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nomination sent shockwaves through Hollywood, questions have arisen about possible violations to the Academy’s campaign lobbying rules.
On Friday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced it had launched “a review of the campaign procedures around this year’s nominees, to ensure that no guidelines were violated, and to inform us whether changes to the guidelines may be needed in a new era of social media and digital communication.”
The investigation follows an aggressive grassroots campaign that saw Hollywood heavyweights sing Riseborough’s praises in the weeks leading up to voting. Amy Adams, Kate Winslet, Charlize Theron, and Melanie Lynskey were among those who hosted Q&As, screenings, and posted about the little-seen “To Leslie” on their personal social media pages.

Los Angeles, Jan 28 (Ians) Twelve more sexual assault lawsuits were filed Friday against jailed ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Californication’ writer and producer Eric Weinberg, who is accused of being a serial rapist.
Weinberg, 62, is also facing 18 criminal charges involving five women. Two women also filed lawsuits against him in November, alleging that he sexually assaulted them on separate occasions in 2019, reports Variety.
The new lawsuits accuse Weinberg of sexually assaulting 13 women from 1998 to 2017. The women ranged in age from 18 to 35 the the time of the assaults, and most of them allege a common pattern.
According to the complaints, Weinberg would meet women in a public place, such as a cafe or a grocery store, tell them he was a photographer and invite them to participate in a photo shoot.

According to the complaints, Weinberg would meet women in a public place, such as a cafe or a grocery store, tell them he was a photographer and invite them to participate in a photo shoot.
Weinberg would have them come to his home, where he would begin taking photos. He would then encourage them to undress, and would sexually assault them, according to the lawsuits.
