Many James Bond fans were once excited by the idea of actor Idris Elba possibly playing 007. Although that ship seems to have sailed, there may still be hope Elba might one day find himself in the Bond franchise. But only as an enemy.

There has been very little update on who might pick up the 007 mantle when James Bond is inevitably rebooted. What rumblings there have been about the new James Bond is that it’s likely a younger actor will inherit the role. With Elba being too old, this would automatically rule him out of the running. But there may be other options for the actor yet.

It’s been nineteen years since Frank “Frankie Fingers” Carver (Nicolas Cage) has been a free man. He’s made the best of prison despite being there for a crime his mob boss Max (Dave Kenneth MacKinnon) committed. What other choice did he have? With his wife dead, his son (hopefully) a reformed junkie, and his money buried behind a home he no longer owns, there wasn’t much else to do but try and enjoy what little control he had over what was left. And since he was serving a life sentence for murder, it would of course mean one more tragic circumstance to earn this long sought after day in the sun. Rather than exoneration, Frank has been given clemency as a result of his own mortality. He’s dying.

Here’s a weird little Nicolas Cage trailer for you to check out for the upcoming film A Score to Settle. I can’t tell how serious I should take the movie. It seemed like a decent revenge story, but then got a little cheesy when Cage confronted the teenage hooligans. But Cage is super into it, so maybe we should be too. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Diagnosed with a fatal condition, Frankie Carver (Nicolas Cage) is released from prison after serving 19 years of hard time. With only a short time left to live, Frankie must desperately try to make amends with the son he left behind while he plots a bloody course of revenge - tracking down his old gang to make them pay one by one.

ReFrame, the coalition formed by Women in Film, the Sundance Institute and IMDbPro, has designated a total of 20 films among 2018’s 100 highest-grossing titles to receive the ReFrame Stamp, which recognize standout, gender-balanced films.
The list released Wednesday includes Fox Searchlight’s Oscar Best Picture-nominated The Favourite, Paramount’s Transformers pic Bumblebee, Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time, Stx’s I Feel Pretty and Lionsgate’s The Spy Who Dumped Me. Nine additional films outside the top 100 were awarded stamps after applying (see the full lists below).
The stamp, launched last June, awarded 12 film stamps in 2017. But the group’s 2018 study found continued disparities in female representation and women of color, with just 4% of the top 100 films directed by a female (down from 6% a year ago), and 23% written by a female. A total of 37% featured female leads, with only 9% being women of color.

The ReFrame coalition of industry leaders and IMDBPro have unveiled 20 movies certified as gender-balanced productions among the top 100 box office films released in 2018.
The list includes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” Paramount Pictures’ “Bumblebee,” Fox Searchlight Pictures’ “The Favourite,” Stx’s “I Feel Pretty,” Lionsgate’s “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” Fox’s “The Hate U Give,” and Warner Bros.’ “Crazy Rich Asians.”
ReFrame, founded by Women in Film and the Sundance Institute, launched the data initiative last June in an effort to recognize and promote gender-balanced films and television shows. It said Wednesday that the increase in recipients of the ReFrame Stamp from 12 in 2017 to 20 stemmed from gains in the roles of department heads and women-of-color leads and co-leads. Still, the report noted that there remained shortfalls in several key areas.

The first trailer for Proud Mary hit the internet in July of 2017. After that came a few badass 70s-style James Bond-like posters with star Taraji P. Henson in shadows, gun drawn. It was hard not to get excited for what appeared to be a stylized assassin flick in the vein of John Wick with a bona fide bankable black woman in the lead, Tina Turner’s emotional adaptation of John Fogarty’s anthem rocking in the background. But then the release date hit with a January bow. Critics were told it wouldn’t screen for them even in the big cities. And Thursday night shows were canceled despite ticket buyers arriving with excitement. It’s one thing to block out press, but a whole other to do so to the public.

Taylor Swift doesn’t give a damn about her bad reputation. Or does she?
On her sixth studio album, Reputation, the Grammy winner, 27, plays with perception. Since rising to fame in 2006, Swift’s knack for super-personal storytelling has been a blessing and a curse. She’s one of the best-selling female artists of all-time. But she’s also fallen prey to the pitfalls of fame and, in recent years, has become as well-known for the headlines she makes as the music she releases.
And it’s her experience with fame — and how it’s influenced her reputation — that fuels her latest LP.

A gentle and often whimsical look at the art of raising children at Ireland’s only primary boarding school, Headford, In Loco Parentis is a warm work of cinéma vérité. The documentary focuses on creative mentorship as long-time teachers Amanda and John Leyden guide students into passions, including football, literature, and rock-n-roll. The film spends a good deal of time on the latter as John directs his students to perform tunes by contemporary artists Rihanna, John Newman and Elle Goulding, often complaining they can carry a tune but lack the rhythm. He arranges the school’s rock groups while advising a student learning Rihanna’s “Diamonds” to be gentle on the piano: “It’s done nothing to you, don’t hurt it.”

Calvin Harris and John Newman have released a new video for their recent single “Olé” over the weekend, and it’s caused some viewers to speculate that it’s meant to troll Taylor Swift. The song was believed to be something of a diss track aimed at the pop starlet following her widely publicized break-up with the Scottish DJ, and now its visual accompaniment is being dissected for supposed references to Swift.
Some have claimed that the new video features imagery that is similar to dates Taylor Swift has been seen on with her new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston. The similarities are primarily linked between photos taken of Swift and Hiddleston during some romantic walks along the beach, while the “Olé” video features a comparable tropical setting as well.

Back when Calvin Harris and pop star Taylor Swift were still dating, one didn’t have to look past too many comment sections on the major Edm blogs to find a slew of jokes about how the Scottish DJ was destined to become the subject of one of Swift’s many break-up songs. What no was expecting though was that Harris would beat the superstar vocalist at her own game.
Today, Calvin Harris and John Newman have released their latest collaboration “Olé,” a summery jaunt with lyrics that allude to the highly publicized breakup. The production gets the back burner here in favor of a stripped down sound with gentle guitar strums and swanky Latin rhythms, as Newman’s smooth vocals take the spotlight.
With no confirmation as to the song’s lyrical subject matter, fans can only speculate about the themes in Calvin Harris‘ latest effort.

Indeed, lyrics (e.g. "I see online that you've begun to be a good girl and take trips with your boyfriend, being attentive / Continue to pretend") seem to follow Swift and Hiddleston's jet-setting romance. Since their relationship went public three weeks ago, they've sojourned in Rome; his native U.K., where she met...

Sorry, guys. As exciting as it might have been to have Calvin Harris pull a Taylor Swift and release a song about their breakup, that's not the case. As soon as word spread that Harris had a new song coming and that it had anything to do with a broken relationship, fans began hoping that it was going to be about his highly publicized split with the singer and her quick relationship with Tom Hiddleston. Wishful thinking, y'all. The music producer did, however, team up with singer John Newman for a reggae track about infidelity which was just released called "Olé." "This song has nothing to do with Taylor," a source tells E! News. "He likes this song a lot. People can interpret the song...

Calvin Harris' upcoming song has everyone talking. The DJ produced a song for singer John Newman called "Olé" that's set to be released on Friday and rumors are flying that it's a cheating song about Taylor Swift. At the beginning of June it was revealed that Harris and Swift had ended their relationship after 15 months of dating. Then two weeks later, Swift was spotted kissing actor Tom Hiddleston and the two began a whirlwind romance. After the photos of Swift and Hiddleston surfaced, a source told E! News that Harris felt "betrayed." And now, one day before the song is released, some of the lyrics have been leaked and they're definitely raising some...

Could Nicole Scherzinger and Lewis Hamilton be back on yet again? The exes—who began dating in 2007, and in the years that followed, separated and reconciled multiple times—sparked rumors of a reconciliation (again) after being spotted out together in London over the weekend. Both Scherzinger and the race car driver enjoyed a night out at nightclub The Box in Soho on Friday night, and reportedly spent a few hours inside the hot spot to watch singer John Newman perform, before leaving the venue separately. So does this mean what we think it means? Well, if what you're thinking is the duo are taking another crack at romance, then no. A source tells E! News, "Lewis and Nicole are...

Sam Smith's Spectre theme has received mixed reviews, and now Duran Duran have admitted they prefer their own Bond tune.
The group recorded the theme for A View to a Kill back in 1985, which we recently ranked as the best ever Bond theme.
"I caught a little bit of it, it's not my favourite - I prefer ours," Simon Le Bon told Gigwise.
"But he's Sam Smith, he's got a beautiful voice and I'm a big fan of him. I support him and what he stands for," he went on.
Le Bon isn't the only one that hasn't taken to Sam Smith's 'Writing's on the Wall'.
John Newman recently told us he was underwhelmed by the theme and that he'd like to hear a more uptempo number.

John Newman was underwhelmed by Sam Smith's Spectre theme, admitting he'd like to hear a more energetic Bond song.
The 'Come and Get It' singer told us he wouldn't like to see the films consistently fall back on ballads.
"It's alright. I'd just quite like to hear an energetic Bond song soon," Newman said of 'Writing's on the Wall'.
"I know it's not the history of a Bond song but I wouldn't want it to go into a place that becomes ballads every time. It would be nice to have an energetic action one because it is an action film.
"I'd love to have a bash at it. I'd want to make something energetic and a bit different... and something that takes longer than 20 minutes to write."
Newman also spoke about being likened to Smith early on, saying that although the comparisons died down now he's always been flattered by them.

Idris Elba might be a favourite to play the next James Bond, but he reckons he'd make a better baddie.
The actor reads an opening monologue on John Newman's new album Revolve, and the singer told us they had a chat about his rumoured role.
"There was a conversation where he thought he'd be a better baddie and I was like, 'You've got a good point. You'd be an amazing baddie'," Newman said.
The singer added that Elba would also do an "amazing job" as Bond.
"It'd be a nice change to have a guy that's very different to James Bond. It's not due to his race or anything like that, because that's the big thing everyone's basing it round. He fits into that role very, very well."
Contrary to the rest of us, current Bond Daniel Craig doesn't "give a shit" who replaces him after Spectre.
