(Watch the movie Here.) To find out why we think this one deserves more love than it gets, check out the video embedded above!
Based on an 1896 novel by H.G. Wells, the film was originally going to be directed by Richard Stanley, who was becoming a popular name in the horror genre at the time. Unfortunately, the production was a mess from the moment the cast and crew arrived on set. Stanley was fired, cast members quit, co-stars Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer exhibited strange behavior while dealing with tragedy and heartbreak. Quentin Tarantino is a lover of cinema first and a filmmaker second. The maverick director has often been vocal about his favorite films of all time as well as his current favorites. Tarantino has also criticized the changing landscape of the industry, echoing the sentiments of Martin Scorsese, who went on a war against the likes of Marvel and DC.
One film that Tarantino was pleasantly surprised by and loved was Tom Cruise’s action blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick. A sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 classic, Tarantino appreciated director Joseph Kosinski’s vision and the respect he showed for the original. Though the Pulp Fiction director had a problem with Val Kilmer’s scene in the film, he mentioned that it still worked.

When Marvel launched its universe with Iron Man, the industry was divided into two eras defined as pre-mcu and post-mcu. Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau changed Hollywood for good and never batted an eye while doing so. It was only fair that the audience got on board with the program and rode the Marvel wave until it crashed into a storm of its own making, drowning everyone and everything in its path.

As we reflect on and put together the story of Robert Downey Jr.’s life, we have to agree that his portrayal of Tony Stark actually saved his career. Since the actor went from being a drug addict to one of the biggest stars on the planet, there has not been a better example of a comeback in recent memory.
For eleven years, he played the MCU’s Iron Man, which gave him all the things an actor could hope for: a stable career, exposure to a new audience, and, most of course, plenty of money. However, that does not tell the whole story. It was Downey Jr.’s role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that served as his “calling card to Iron Man”.

Val Kilmer was almost a lead in one of the cult classics of David Lynch. The Top Gun actor could be a massive name early in his career if he accepted Lynch’s 1986 mystery-thriller Blue Velvet.
Val Kilmer has been cast in several commercially and critically successful films throughout his career. He has also garnered attention from pop culture enthusiasts for his role as the Dark Knight in Batman Forever. However, the Iceman fame has also lost some iconic roles that could have elevated his career.

Hollywood’s beauty queen Nicole Kidman has been thoroughly successful throughout her more than forty-year-old and counting career, scoring roles in nearly every genre there is, including the superhero ones as well. Decades before starring in Dceu’s Aquaman film series, she also scored the role of Dr. Chase Meridian alongside Val Kilmer’s Caped Crusader in 1995’s Batman Forever.

Keanu Reeves has always had a career worth the envy of his contemporaries. From his righteous indignance against violence in turning down Oliver Stoneʼs Platoon to becoming one of the most in-demand action movie stars, even in his late 50s, Reeves doesnʼt leave much to the imagination as far as his success is concerned. But even those set on the path of success can sometimes tread down the wrong path.

Despite the direction in which Reeves was later bound to go in his career, in hindsight, the actor got his start playing charming go-getters stuck in difficult predicaments. Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, the Polish composer who won a Oscar for his score of the 2004 film Finding Neverland, died today in Krakow following a years-long battle with Multiple System Atrophy. He was 71.
His death was announced bythe Polish Music Foundation.
A prolific composer for film and television, Kaczmarek’s credits beginning in the 1980s and building momentum in the 1990s and 2000s. Among the titles: Total Eclipse, Washington Square, Aimee and Jaguar, Unfaithful, Soldier’s Girl, The Visitor, City Island, Get Low and Paul, Apostle of Christ.

George Clooney has been many things in his career, an Oscar-winning actor and producer, a nominated director, and a humanitarian. However, one thing he could not pull off was being a successful Batman. While he was perfect on paper for the role of the vigilante, the odds were stacked against him as he was cast in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin.
The film has received extremely negative reviews and led to the reboot of the franchise with Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. However, the actor seems to have found one fan in Josh Brolin, who played Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. He was reportedly also up for Batman in the Dceu, which Ben Affleck played.

However, the actor seems to have found one fan in Josh Brolin, who played Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. He was reportedly also up for Batman in the Dceu, which Ben Affleck played.

Dawn Steel was one of the most influential and significant figures in the film industry regarding women working in production settings. Women acting in films is nothing new and has not been for decades. However, the same cannot be said about their presence behind the camera. The production of films, the studios that make them, and all of the major decisions were always taken by men; that was until Steel came around.
Dawn Steel [Credit: Spotlight]In 1987, she became one of the first women to run a major Hollywood film studio, becoming the president of Columbia Pictures. Despite all that she represented for the feminist movement and the change she brought about in the film industry, many were not happy with her achievements. So much so, that the producer was fired soon after she had her first child.

Starring alongside Tom Cruise in the 1986 action film, Top Gun, Val Kilmer portrayed Lt. Tom Kazansky, aka Iceman, serving as a rival to Cruise’s Pete Maverick, a role he would later reprise in the 2022 sequel. Their dynamic, which evolved from a playful rivalry to a deep friendship, captivated fans.

The 1993 Western "Tombstone" had a notoriously troubled production that even led star Kurt Russell to help with directing duties, essentially co-directing with credited helmer George P. Cosmatos (the director of "Rambo: First Blood Part II" and father of "Mandy" director Panos Cosmatos). Despite the difficulties filming the story inspired by the exploits of real-life Tombstone sheriff Wyatt Earp (Russell), some of the cast managed to develop friendships, and that includes Russell and the man behind Doc Holiday, Val Kilmer.
In an interview with GQ where he looked back at some of his most iconic roles, Russell shared a fun anecdote about gifts he and Kilmer traded at the end of filming "Tombstone" that happened to be exceptionally in-character for them both. Making "Tombstone" may have been a real pain, but at least they managed to find a silver lining (and created one of the best Westerns of all time).

Mark Wahlberg is an incredible actor with an impressive filmography under his belt. Having starred in many shows and movies, the actor made a name for himself in different genres – be it action, comedy, or drama. But if there is one thing missing from his folio, its superheroes. While Wahlberg had been approached quite a few times to star in different superhero roles, either he wasn’t interested in them, or things never completely materialized.

The role of Batman has been played by many different actors in diverse ways over the years. In 1989, Michael Keaton headlined the cinematic adaptation of the iconic DC superhero in Tim Burton’s Batman. The actor-director duo collaborated on two successful films before Keaton announced that he would step down from playing the character in the 3rd installment.

David Lynch's "Dune" was mostly seen as a misstep for the celebrated director back in 1984. As we gear up for the bleak blockbuster that is Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two," Lynch's "Dune" now occupies an unusual space in the public consciousness — somewhere between cult classic and historic blunder. There are undoubtedly plenty of things wrong with "Dune" 1984, and the film suffered a brutal critical and commercial reception. But forty years after Lynch's $40 million spectacle bombed at the box office, some have come to see the films' positives, arguing that "Dune" 1984 is better than its reputation suggests.
Which, as it happens, is a perfectly reasonable point of view. Aside from the impressive set and costume design, "Dune" actually featured some pretty good visual effects for the time. What's more, the casting was excellent. Lynch may have ruthlessly denied Glenn Close for a part in "Dune," but luckily for him,...

The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral lasted under one minute and took place over 140 years ago. Tombstone, which dramatizes said gunfight, was made just over 30 years ago and already has more mystery to it. We may know who killed who that October day in Arizona, but there’s still some discrepancies over who truly directed 1993’s Tombstone. One thing’s for sure: Michael Biehn knows it wasn’t Kurt Russell…despite what Kurt Russell may say.
Speaking on Michael Rosenbaum on Inside of You, Biehn – who played outlaw Johnny Ringo – tried to once again shut down the rumors that Russell was the true director of Tombstone. “I get so f’in’ tired of people asking me if Kurt Russell directed the movie…Kurt Russell did not direct the movie. Kurt Russell was responsible for getting the movie off the ground. I never would have played Johnny Ringo if it wasn’t for Kurt Russell.

Since 2022’s Elvis, Austin Butler’s star has really taken off. The former Disney and Nickelodeon child actor is capitalizing on his breakout film with roles in the recently released Dune: Part Two, where he plays the ruthless Feyd-Rautha. However, Butler hasn’t turned his back on smaller films, as he is set to co-star alongside Tom Hardy in Jeff Nichols’ period drama, The Bikeriders. And there have been rumblings that he may take on the role of Chris Shiherlis in Michael Mann’s Heat 2 — a role which was previously portrayed by Val Kilmer.
Michael Mann confirmed during his press tour for Ferrari that his next film project would be adapting his novel, Heat 2, which serves as both a sequel and a prequel to his popular 1995 film that famously pitted together legendary actors Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Lindsay Lohan was fetch long before fetch was a thing. So, it should come as no surprise that Paramount paid the actor handsomely to cameo in the new “Mean Girls.”
Sources say Lohan, who became one of young Hollywood’s biggest stars after starring in the 2004 film of the same name, pulled down about $500,000 for a half a day of work in the latest incarnation, a musical that stars a new clique of Plastics led by Angourie Rice and Reneé Rapp. Paramount declined comment. He’s your huckleberry and also apparently your guide. To mark the 30th anniversary of Tombstone, Val Kilmer, who played gunfighter/dentist/Wyatt Earp Bff in the 1993 western, posted behind-the-scenes footage he shot during the making of the film.
Stamped with “August 26th, 1993”, the footage shows trailers marked “Doc” and “Wyatt”, for lawman Earp as played by Kurt Russell. The footage then shows Russell outside of his trailer, with cameraman Kilmer assuring him, “You’ve arrived! You’re a pro!” Russell then shows photos of himself and the real Earp side by side, challenging the viewer to figure out who is who, even referencing an old Memorex ad just to further date the clip.

In February 1994, Roger Ebert felt like he was the last one to get to the party when it came to celebrating a new movie. This would usually be a strange thing for a film critic to admit, particularly when he has a Pulitzer Prize. But despite—or perhaps because—he and fellow critic Gene Siskel hosted the nationally syndicated At the Movies TV series, Disney and its film production label Hollywood Pictures went out of their way to keep the men with the thumbs from seeing Tombstone. Even though the new Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer-starring Western enjoyed a vaunted Christmas Day release, the studio was not so much putting out the movie as they were abandoning what seemed like a Yuletide turkey.

It’s no secret that George Clooney has a disdain-hate relationship with his version of Batman, having starred as the Caped Crusader in 1997’s Batman & Robin. But there might be someone else who brushes off his take more than anybody else: his own son!
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, George Clooney recalled a moment when his son laid it out as only a kid can. “My son’s in love with Batman, right? He’s in love with Batman. That’s all he talks about is Batman. How do you do that?!” For what it’s worth, those nipples landed that get-up a starting bid of $40,000 on the auction block.

Well, this is more than disappointing.
Just days after it was revealed that Kara Kilmer would be leaving Chicago Fire, the series has confirmed its intention to say goodbye to another series regular.
Alberto Rosende, who has played fan-favorite Blake Gallo since Chicago Fire Season 8, will be written out on the Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere.
The actor was initially employed in a recurring capacity but struck such a chord with viewers that he was upgraded to a full-fledged series regular shortly after.
Losing another familiar face is never a good sign, but the One Chicago universe has many movers and shakers right now.
The only solace we can take from this news is that Rosende will appear in one final episode to bring Blake's storyline to a close.
The other good news is that we're convinced Blake will not be killed off because this show likes to deliver shocking twists.

Throughout the mythos concerning the character of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, there is a strong theme of predestination. While made explicit in only a few tales of the Dark Knight throughout the character's 84-year existence, there exists the idea that the orphan Bruce Wayne was able to mold himself into the figure of Batman partially because his whole life prepared him to do just that, mentally if not also physically and emotionally.
1995's "Batman Forever," the third in Warner Bros. and producer Tim Burton's series of live-action adaptations of the character, is one of the stories of the Caped Crusader that highlights this theme in a big way. In the film, Bruce (played by Val Kilmer) is troubled by recurring waking nightmares that psychiatrist Dr. Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman) deduces are actually repressed memories forcing their way into his conscious mind. The 2004 film “Spartan” has largely been forgotten, but the thriller will always have a place in history as the movie that made Val Kilmer hate David Mamet.
A viral Twitter thread has sparked renewed interest in the film’s DVD commentary track, in which Kilmer repeatedly insults his director Mamet for what Kilmer saw as pompous and occasionally abusive on-set behavior. The film, which centers around a search for the President’s kidnapped daughter, was the first collaboration between Mamet and Kilmer. Based on the actor’s comments, it’s not surprising that it ended up being their last.
“He’s cruel,” Kilmer said of Mamet. “He hates actors, having failed at the profession himself. There were a lot of tears on the set. It was tough, because you’d be playing a tough guy and he’d break you down. But in front of everyone too, he wouldn’t do it in the trailer.

The Batman movies have included a variety of love interests over the years, including Nicole Kidman in Val Kilmer’s Batman Forever. While performing with Kilmer, she noticed there was one feature about both her Batman Forever co-star and Michael Keaton she felt was important to play Batman.

Kidman starred as criminal psychologist Dr. Chase Meridian in the 1995 feature Batman Forever. It was a role that was initially for veteran actor Rene Russo, but scheduling issues allegedly caused the recast. But Kidman was someone that the film’s director Joel Schumacher was already eager to work with. Batman Forever presented a perfect opportunity for the two to collaborate.
“I know, I know, she doesn’t look anything like a criminal psychiatrist,” Schumacher once told Entertainment Weekly. “But it’s my Gotham City...

Ray Stevenson died on location in Italy this week while working on the film Cassino in Ischi. In it, he plays Nic Cassino, who appears to be the title character. But throughout his career the actor was renowned for strong supporting roles. Stevenson exemplified this “one for all” spirit as Porthos in The Three Musketeers (2011) and honed it through The Book of Eli (2010), King Arthur (2004), the Thor movies, and the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series, Ashoka. He was at his most supportive, even as a lead character, when he played legionnaire Titus Pullo in HBO’s Rome. Pullo was a warrior with a heart of gold, but at one point he could also be the second-hand-man to an early version of a mob kingpin.
But Stevenson was second to no one in the role of Danny Greene, the titular character of writer-director Jonathan Hensleigh’s 2011 gangster-genre love letter, Kill the Irishman.
