One Taylor Swift song has the power to comfort millions of fans. She revealed she enjoyed a certain rock song because it made her feel better when she was socially struggling at school. Notably, the tune in question was written for someone who was getting bullied.
Taylor Swift wished every lonely kid would hear this song
During a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift named a few of the songs that impacted her the most. Her choices were as varied as Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle,” Bon Iver’s “Blood Bank,” and Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain.” She also displayed some love for the rock music of the 2000s, mentioning songs like “Hands Down” by Dashboard Confessional and “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World.
The “I Knew You Were Trouble” star elaborated on her love of “The Middle.” “I remember listening to this on the bus to school,” she said.

Taylor Swift has given the world some of the most popular love songs of modern times. A love song by a well-known indie band knocked her off of her feet. She said the tune was dark, but it managed to capture the true feeling of romance. Notably, Swift went on to work with the band in question.
Taylor Swift said this love song feels ‘like a memory’
During a 2015 interview with Rolling Stone, Swift was asked to name the music that made her into an artist. Some of her picks included Carly Simon’s breakup song “You’re So Vain,” Faith Hill’s country-pop love song “This Kiss,” and Jimmy Eat World’s crossover hit “The Middle.” One of the folk songs on the list was Bon Iver’s “Blood Bank.” Swift must be a big Bon Iver fan since “Blood Bank” is not one of the band’s more famous tunes.

In addition to releasing hit after hit, Taylor Swift has occasionally made older songs popular again. For example, she danced to a 2000s rock song and that changed everything for a very 2000s band. A member of that group discussed how Swift changed their career. He also recalled working with Swift once.
In a commercial, Taylor Swift said she loved this song in middle school
Jimmy Eat World is a pop-punk band that peaked during their genre’s heyday in the early 2000s. They are mostly known for their hit single “The Middle,” which is one of the catchiest rock songs ever. Swift dances around to the song in a commercial for Apple Music. In the commercial, the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer says that she used to listen to “The Middle” when she was in middle school.
During a 2016 interview on Medium, Jimmy Eat World’s Jim Adkins was asked about the commercial.

If you’ve attended a mainstream country concert in the past decade, you’re probably familiar with the part of the set where the headliner sprinkles in a non-obvious cover from an adjacent genre like pop, R&b, or classic rock. It’s a move with any number of purposes: to show an artist’s range of influences, to reel in a drifting crowd with a massive hit, to appeal to a wider audience, or to highlight how fluid and arbitrary genre borders really are when you strip a song back to its essentials.

Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World are gearing up to tour together this summer. Ahead of those shows, the bands have gotten to know each other by covering a song from the other group’s catalogs.
Andy Hull and company took on “Table for Glasses,” the opening track to Jimmy Eat World’s 1999 LP Clarity. The singer’s gentle voice works well for the slow-building song, and the cover’s insular production makes Manchester Orchestra’s version feel more immediate than the emo original.
“It was an absolute honor to trade covers with one of our favorite bands,” Hull said in a statement. “We approached our cover with admiration for the original and had a blast exploring all of its spacious corners.”

Kelly Clarkson welcomed a duet partner to her daily Kellyoke performances as Shazam himself Zachary Levi joined her for a rendition of Frank and Nancy Sinatra’s “Something Stupid.”
Outside of being a superhero, Levi has plenty of singing experience, winning a Grammy (and earning an Oscar nod) for his “I See the Light” duet with Mandy Moore from the Disney film Tangled. He also earned a Tony Award nomination for his role in the Broadway revival of She Loves Me.

While performing her rendition of Billy Joel’s “My Life” on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer sends a knowing wink toward the camera. It punctuates the lyric, “I don’t need you to worry for me, ’cause I’m alright.” But as goes for most Kellyoke performances, the only person who should really be worried is the original musician who is about to be out-sung by the queen of karaoke.
“My Life” is the latest in a string of Clarkson covers performed with her in-house instrumentalists My Band Y’all.

Performances at the When We Were Young music festival in Las Vegas were cancelled due to concerns over high winds.
Organisers of the pop-punk event announced the cancellation of Saturday’s shows based on advice from the National Weather Service and local authorities.
“The National Weather Service has now upgraded their Saturday forecast to a High Wind Warning, including dangerous 30 to 40 mph sustained winds with potential 60 mph gusts,” the statement read.
“We have no other choice than to cancel today’s When We Were Young Festival. The safety of our fans, artists and staff will always be our top priority.
“This was not a decision that came lightly. We know many of you traveled to the area to have a spectacular day with your favorite bands and have been looking forward to his day for months. We were equally as excited and are devastated to have to share this news.

Back in 2013 — fresh from playing bass on what would turn out to be one of Van Halen’s final tours — Wolfgang Van Halen turned his attention to his own music, demoing a song he called “Mammoth,” a nod to one of the early names of his father’s band. “It was the first time I felt like, ‘Yeah, I’m ready to do this,'” Van Halen recalls.
Seven years later, that song is finally coming out on the self-titled debut from Mammoth Wvh, his one-man-band. It drops on June 11th.

“All the Way (Stay)” arrived with an accompanying video, directed by Daniel Carberry, which features the parallel stories of two drifters who spend their time smoking in abandoned bowling alleys, playing pool, getting naked in laundromats and eating some very messy burgers.
“‘All The Way (Stay)’ extolls the virtues of letting people discover the real you while exposing your vulnerabilities,” the band said in a statement.

‘American Idol’ recap: Top 14 sing for America’s votes on Night 12 of Season 17 [Updating Live Blog]
Six weeks after the second season of “American Idol” hosted by Ryan Seacrest began on ABC, America finally gets a chance to vote as the Top 14 take to the stage on the April 14 episode. These finalists survived a grueling process that began with winning over the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — at a regional audition and getting a ticket to Hollywood.
A whopping 150 plus would-be winners made the trip to La La Land, before being cut to 40. That group then competed both individually and in groups before the judges decided on the Top 20. This score of artists were then asked to sing both solo and in duets with celebrities and convince the three judges that they deserved a place in the Top 14.

"As you get older it’s more interesting to have a theme that everything tries to support – I would say this album has a theme," frontman Jim Adkins told Rolling Stone earlier this year. "I would describe it as an attempt at making an adult breakup record. The consequences to what the characters are going through are more significant."

In the late night world, sometimes one guest is all you really need to make your mark for the week. Such is that case with "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" this week, as even though some of the other shows have more consistent night-to-night collections of guests this week, Stewart is the only host who will welcome President Barack Obama to the set of his show. The Commander-In-Chief will sit down with Stewart on Wednesday (October 27) to discuss the upcoming "Rally to Restore Sanity," an event that will be going down this Saturday (October 30). It's Obama's first visit to "The Daily Show" since he was elected president, and it should be a lively discussion about the state of his term and the upcoming midterm elections.

This week's batch of talk shows is all about contrasts, as there are a handful of people who will be chatting with your favorite hosts who don't necessarily belong together. Such is the magic of television booking, apparently. It all gets started on Monday night's (September 20) edition of "The Late Show With David Letterman," which will feature both a conversation with former president Bill Clinton as well as a performance by Chromeo. Didn't think those two would ever meet in the same green room, did you? The interesting pairings continue on Letterman's show this week, as Tuesday (September 21) sees both Snooki and Maroon 5 visit the show, while Wednesday (September 22) brings together Joaquin Phoenix and Tom Jones. Thursday (September 23)? That will deliver James Franco and Shakira, and Friday (September 24) wraps up with Shia Laboeuf and Jimmy Eat World (though honestly those two sort of make sense together).
