This week, if you look at the top five channels in the U.S. Top 50, you’ll see some faces smiling back at you. That’s a bit unusual, since brands (particularly those providing content for kids) have typically outranked creators in our all-American rankings.
So who are the creators sitting atop the charts? They’re a mix of familiar faces and comparatively recent arrivals in the Top 50.

This week, the Number One song in America is a diss track. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” debuted at the top of the charts, to the surprise of no one who’s seen the track go viral since its release earlier this month. The song is buoyed by a catchy DJ Mustard beat and a slew of unforgettably delivered lyrics by Kendrick — even if the lines are vulgar barbs toward his rival Drake.
What does the record’s success mean? For one, it highlights how desensitized we are as a music-listening public.

Over the weekend, a Twitter user by the name EbonyPrince2K24 posted what appeared to be grainy surveillance footage of Drake’s alleged personal items, the same selection featured on the cover of Kendrick Lamar’s now-infamous Drake diss “Meet the Grahams.” The video, featuring a prescription pill bottle as well as a package of Ozempic with Drake’s name on it, quickly racked up over 10 million views and set off a firestorm of theories suggesting there might be a deeper and more sinister meaning behind Kendrick’s cover art.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss, “Not Like Us,” has brought him back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, debuting on the chart at No. 1.
The scathing track is one of four songs from the beef appearing in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 this week. His own “euphoria” rose to No. 3 from No. 11 in its second week on the chart, with the Future and Metro Boomin collaboration “Like That” coming in at No. 6. Meanwhile, Drake’s “Family Matters” debuts at No. 7.
“Not Like Us” marks Kendrick’s fourth No. 1 on the Hot 100 after his Taylor Swift collaboration “Bad Blood,” 2017’s “Humble.,” and the aforementioned “Like That.”
Produced by Mustard, “Not Like Us” served as a victory lap of sorts for Kendrick, coming one day after he hit back at “Family Matters” with the thermonuclear “Meet the Grahams.” Despite featuring club-ready production, the track features further allegations of Drake’s preference...

Jeff Daniels Reveals He Almost Quit Show Business in 2014. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
If it weren’t for Jim Carrey, fans would never have witnessed Jeff Daniels outdoing himself as megalomaniacal Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker in the Netflix adaptation of “A Man in Full.” In a recent interview with Indiewire “Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels, he revealed he almost quit showbusiness before his friend and costar, Jim Carrey, talked him out of it.
Jeff Daniels starred opposite Carrey in the 1994 buddy comedy “Dumb and Dumber.” The movie followed Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels), two affable, dim-witted pals from Rhode Island who often get into impossible situations leading to mayhem.
The duo have remained friends for decades and reprised their roles in 2014’s “Dumb and Dumber To.” In an interview with IndieWire, Jeff Daniels explained that after they finished filming the 2014 sequel, he told Carrey, “I’m done.”

The long-awaited showdown between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has been bogged down by Instagram Story trolling, X bots, and artificial intelligence. While the rap world awaits Kendrick’s response to Drake, we’ve also been made to ponder technology’s role in societal decline. When the rap Gods declared “There are no rules in rap beef,” they likely weren’t imagining stan wars with hordes of X bot accounts feverishly posting sophomoric disses like “Daycares worldwide are being told to stay on high alert for Kendrick Lamar.”

The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar is escalating to new heights.
Drake dropped a track on his social media titled ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’.
The song features AI vocals from Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg on a stopgap between diss records as he awaits Kendrick Lamar’s response to his latest release ‘Push Ups’, reports ‘Variety’.

“Kendrick we need ya, the West Coast saviour. Engraving your name in some hip-hop history,” raps an artificial Shakur.
“Call him a b**** for me. Talk about him liking young girls as a gift for me.”
According to ‘Variety’, Drake then uses Snoop Dogg’s computer-generated vocals to directly address Lamar.
Snoop Dogg’s AI-generated voice raps, “World is watching this chess game, but oh you out of moves Dot.

A few weeks back, Flint rapper Bfb Da Packman dropped Forget Me Not, his first album in three years. Before the release, he heightened fan anticipation when he revealed a Drake collaboration on “Olympic Shit Talkin,” a song that also features a verse from the currently incarcerated Rio Da Yung Og. But just before Forget Me Not dropped, Kendrick Lamar threw shots at Drake on Future and Metro-Boomin’s “Like That,” reshaping fan expectations for the Toronto rapper’s next verse. He opted not to clear his appearance on Packman’s song,...

J. Cole has issued a public apology to Kendrick Lamar for the diss track he included on his newly released project, Might Delete Later.
On the closing track, “7 Minute Drill,” J. Cole claimed Lamar had fallen off “like The Simpsons” and mocked his recent musical output. Cole rapped about Lamar, “Your first shit was classic, your last shit was tragic/ Your second shit put n***as to sleep but they gassed it/ Your third shit was a massive hit, that was your prime/ I was trailing right behind but I just now hit mine/ Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead/ How ironic, soon as I got it now he want something with me.”
Less than 48 hours after releasing the project, however, Cole was already expressing regret. Speaking during his set at the Dreamvillle Music Festival on Sunday night, Cole said, “I am so proud of that project,...

Metro Boomin warned us before he and Future dropped We Don’t Trust You: “Pick a side.”
As J. Cole has learned over the past 12 hours, anyone not firmly on one side of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar divide is liable to get caught in the crossfire. Last night, he dropped Might Delete Later, a surprise EP of tracks that might have been lauded as another solid offering from the rap vet — or maybe the conversation would be about his troubling (and trite) transphobic bars on “Pi.” But instead, the...

Drake has quite literally put Travis Scott in his sights for siding with Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Metro Boomin in an ongoing feud. During a recent concert, Drake mimicked shooting his frequent collaborator while performing their hit “Meltdown.”
In a fan-shot video, Drake can be seen screaming lyrics from the Utopia cut before pausing to fake gunshots at a giant Travis Scott head. Watch the footage below.

For context, Travis encouraged Future and Metro Boomin to debut their Drake diss, “Like That,” at Rolling Loud California days ahead of its release, making it apparent that he stood against Drake.
On the track, Kendrick Lamar hits out at Drake and J. Cole, asserting his dominance among the so-called Big Three rappers of their generation. Specifically, Kendrick calls out Drake for his frequent Michael Jackson comparisons and buries him with lyrics referencing the latter’s album For All the Dogs.

A Simple Favour 2 is moving forward at Prime Video, with director Paul Feig and stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively all making a return.
A Simple Favour did decent business relative to its outlay in 2018, grossing $97m worldwide on a $20m budget. Paul Feig directed the darkly comic mystery about a vlogger (Anna Kendrick) who investigates the disappearance of her elegant (and enigmatic) new best friend (Blake Lively).
A sequel has been in development for years; Simon Brew spoke to Feig about the first film on the Film Stories podcast in 2018 and discussed the sequel when Feig was our guest at a live podcast recording in 2022.
We also have a synopsis for the sequel, per Deadline:
In Part Two, we see the return of Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.

If Drake and Kendrick finally have a rap battle for the ages, it won’t be solely because of Kendrick’s recent verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” It (probably) won’t be over industry politics that we’re not privy to, pillow talking, or whatever other trivial issues have caused prior rap feuds. I’m not the biggest fan of rap beef because, as Snoop Dogg told Latto, it’s often a product of ego intensified by corporate forces looking to maintain division. But Drake and...
