Champion figure skater Adam Rippon is developing a comedy series about figure skating at NBC, Variety has learned.
Rippon and Susan Kittenplan co-created the series and developed the story, with both serving as executive producers. Billy Finnegan is also a co-creator and is attached to write the script and executive produce. 20th Television will produce.
Set in the off-the-wall world of adult figure skating, the series is said to tackle the oversized ambitions, underwhelming talent and boundless heart as one woman fights her family, failing knees and every other skater on the ice.
Rippon formally retired from competition in 2018 after competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He consistently ranked as one of the top skaters in the world during his career, winning gold medals at events like the Four Continents Championships and the World Junior Championships. He went on to win Season 26 of “Dancing with the Stars” at ABC.
He is repped by ICM.

Exclusive: Picturestart and Endeavor Content have landed screen rights to Showboat, a Logan Hill 2018 Esquire article about the quirky world of cruise performers, in a hotly competitive auction involving multiple bidders. Nahnatchka Khan and Billy Finnegan have written the script and Khan is attached to direct. Randall Poster will serve as Music Supervisor.
The article provides the template for a music-driven comedy about a diversely talented group of cruise ship performers, and a jaded indie singer who must get over her Big Bad Self and learn that sequins, confetti canons, and making your audience happy isn’t always a bad thing.
Jessica Switch and Julia Hammer will oversee for Picturestart. Hill will executive produce. Picturestart was hatched by producer and former studio exec Erik Feig, with a focus on “discovery of voice” content and storytelling, which highlights emerging talent just finding their voices.

Fox has given a put pilot commitment to Richard Lovely, a single-camera comedy from Grace and Frankie executive producer Billy Finnegan, director Kat Coiro (The Mick) and 20th Century Fox TV.
Written by Finnegan, the project, which has an About a Boy vibe to it, is about Richard Lovely, a best-selling children’s book author… who hates children. After a series of unfortunate public events — and a little advice from his fictional alter ego — he’s forced to foster a little boy named Georgie to save his career. But Georgie might end up saving his life.
Finnegan and Coiro executive produce.
As part of decreasing its dependance on current sister studio 20th Century Fox TV, which will soon become part of Disney, Fox aims at buying half of its scripted development for next season from 20th TV.
Finnegan has been on Netflix’s comedy series Grace and Frankie since Episode...

NBC is developing the sitcom G’Uncle, based on the experiences of out writer Billy Finnegan. “G’Uncle is inspired by Finnegan’s own experience as a gay man living with his sister, her husband, and their two little kids in Washington DC. At that time, he became a go-between in his sister’s marriage and the go-to babysitter for the kids.” A lot of us have been there. Can’t wait for this.

Could this be NBC‘s next Will & Grace? NBC has put in development G’Uncle, a comedy project from writer Billy Finnegan (Don’t Trust The B—-), Sony Pictures TV and Will Gluck‘s studio-based Olive Bridge, which has received a script commitment with a sizable penalty attached. The premise of the single-camera comedy is somewhat reminiscent of one of NBC’s biggest hits of the past decade, Will & Grace, if Will and Grace were siblings. G’Uncle is inspired by Finnegan’s own experience as a gay man living with his sister, her husband, and their two little kids in Washington DC. At that time, he became a go-between in his sister’s marriage and the go-to babysitter for the kids. Finnegan is writing the script, with Michael Patrick Jann (Us & Them) attached to direct. The two executive produce with Olive Bridge’s Gluck and Richie Schwartz. Finnegan...
