Based on the 2016 short of the same name (also written and directed by Jon Knautz), The Cleaning Lady follows a floundering love addict who forms a dangerous bond with her new domestic while trying to avoid her married lover. As Alice struggles to end her affair with a married man, she finds solace in Shelly, a reclusive burn victim who cleans Alice’s apartment. As their friendship grows, so does Shelly’s twisted obsession with Alice. When Shelly learns of Alice’s on-and-off affair, she takes matters into her own hands in order to cleanse Alice of her bad behavior.

Tagline: "She Will Love You to Death." Goddess of Love is resurfacing after already releasing through Video-on-demand. This title was moved to Digital platforms, way back in 2016. The film has been reviewed, on 28Dla, here: Goddess of Love Reviewed on 28Dla. Very tense, the film is almost a character study of Venus (Alexis Kendra) as she descends into an internal hell. Mpi Home Video will show Jon Knautz's Goddess of Love, on DVD, this Summer. For more on the story, Venus falls in love with Brian (Woody Naismith), a little too quickly. When Brian returns to his ex-girlfriend (Elizabeth Sandy), Venus acts out on her former flame. Everyone loses in this deadly love triangle. This version of Goddess of Love has not been rated. Terror Films will be releasing Jon Knautz's Goddess of Love, tomorrow (Oct. 7th, 2016). The film plays out like a dating horror story as one woman becomes unhinged after a bad breakup; the results are terrifying! Director Knautz, of The Shrine (2010) fame, has woven an exciting thriller, with this feature. A Goddess of Love review is available here: A Goddess of Love Review on 28Dla. As well, the film centrally stars: Alexis Kendra, Woody Naismith and Elizabeth Sandy. A new clip, for the film, is available here. It is titled "Kitty Love" and should not be watched by fans of cats. The "Kitty Love" clip shows one of the minor characters, in her home. The door bell rings and there is a nasty surprise, a bloody furball. Who left this gruesome gift? Fans of horror can find the answer to this question, on October 7th. On this date, Goddess of Love...

While there may be a serious lack of theatrical horror coming our way this Halloween season, fear not genre fans, as we have over 15 different horror and sci-fi titles making their way onto smaller screens this October, which should help take the sting off a bit. Several great films I happened to catch earlier on this year at various festivals – The Greasy Strangler, In A Valley of Violence and Under the Shadow – are all making their VOD debuts this month, and you also have the remastered version of Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm and the series final sequel, Phantasm: Ravager, to look forward to as well.
Other notable VOD releases for October 2016 include The Windmill, The Unspoken, ClownTown, Fear, Inc., Vampyres, Halloweed, and Goddess of Love from Jon Knautz (The Shrine, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer).

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Dalia Films Production. Tagline: "Be careful who you get close to." Director: Jon Knautz. Writers: Alexis Kendra and Jon Knautz. Cast: Alexis Kendra, Woody Naismith, Elizabeth Sandy and Monda Scott. Goddess of Love is a bit of misnomer. The film's protagonist, Venus (Alexis Kendra), is more of a black widow or a female preying mantis. She bites the heads off of those she loves, figuratively. This film, from Canadian director Jon Knautz (The Shrine), is a very fascinating look at a delusional character. She appears normal and average at first, but her mask comes off at a prominent transition point. Here, the film changes from an erotic thriller into more of a psychological one. The transition is jarring and from here on out the film is a bumpy ride. The steep ups and downs come from the protagonist, whose own perceptions cannot be trusted.

Okay, answer this one…what has giant asteroid on a collision course with Earth, a 300-foot tall woman, mind-bending drugs an all-out gun battle? "Logic hasn't exactly been this week's selling point," declares one of the characters at the end of the trailer for Apocalypse, CA. Yeah, I can see where he's coming from. Mysterious radio personality and apparent part-time genie, ‘Sassy Boots’ (Elizabeth Sandy)
takes it upon herself to grant John Parsons (Nick Mathis) a few wishes five days before the
world is to be destroyed by an asteroid. Only problem is John’s wishes aren’t exactly calculated,
or even planned – the end result of which is a situation far worse than before.
Wry, cynical and full of off-beat humor, Apocalypse, CA is the story of John Parsons and his
ill-fated friends as they prepare for certain death at the hands of a massive asteroid, sex-
inducing drugs, a three-hundred foot giant, and a horde of other unfortunate problems.
Apocalypse, CA is an indie cult film of catastrophic proportions, featuring outstanding visual
effects from artists Ryan Wieber (Ryan vs. Dorkman) and Teague Chrystie (The Pacific) in this
feature film directorial debut by Chad Peter (behind the popular Internet short films, Sex, Drugs
& Natalie Portman & Roleplayed).
