The real reason Matt Harvey went Awol
The Matt Harvey situation keeps getting more interesting. On Sunday, he was suspended for three games after blowing off Saturday’s game. This led to a late-night visit from Mets security. Tuesday, he apologized profusely at a press conference and admitted he was out past curfew on Friday (he was actually out until 4 a.m. at 1Oak). And now comes a fun rumor that it was all over a girl. Apparently, the sight of ex-girlfriend Adriana Lima partying at the Met Gala with Julian Edelman was too much for him to take, and led to his late-night outing.

While the world might not want to read this, Andy Gray, writer for Sports Illustrated, shed some light on the Charles Oakley Msg incident on his Facebook account last night. Apparently Gray is friends with a number of people who were sitting a row in front of Oakley the night of the incident. From what they’re telling him, Oakley was well more than buzzed and was apparently being belligerent to waitresses and ushers for a very long time before the escalated James Dolan incident. I bring this up because even I, a Knicks fan, don’t care. Charles Oakley is the

Starting a successful career in football television broadcasting is often considered to be as difficult as actually starting a professional footballing career. Some would even say that in order to work within this industry you would need to have been a professional footballer, or at-least have some previous association to the game.
Take for example, the line-up of Saturday night’s popular Match of The Day (Motd) football highlights show, presented by Gary Lineker (Ex-pro and former England Captain), and most commonly guest presented by pundits Alan Shearer (Ex-pro), Mark Lawrenson (Ex-pro), and Alan Hansen (Ex-pro). Similarly, Sky Sports newly appointed main pundit Gary Neville has only just finished hanging up his boots at Manchester United, while his controversial predecessor Andy Gray, also began his career as a professional footballer. Andy now works as a presenter for talkSPORT.
Who Are The Real Industry Experts?
It seems almost stupid to question the rationale behind it.

Queens Park Rangers have doubts over the fitness of January signing Loic Remy, who has a groin problem and is a doubt to face Manchester United.
Junior Hoilett and Samba Diakite have returned to match fitness and are available for selection, but Bobby Zamora may have to settle for an appearance from the bench as he continues his battle with a hip injury while Fabio is ineligible to face his parent club.
Manchester United are likely to be without Wayne Rooney, who is struggling with a chronic sinus problem, and Phil Jones and Paul Scholes miss out through injury.
Robin van Persie should start having been rested in the Fa Cup win over Reading while Javier Hernandez, who scored what proved to be the winning goal in that game, could make an appearance through Rooney’s absence.

Barcelona manager Tita Vilnova has resigned from his post on medical grounds, according to Andy Gray and Richard Keys on Talksport radio, reporting from Spanish media sources and twitter.
Vilanova had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from the parotid gland in his upper neck in November last year.
It is thought a regression has relapsed a fight with cancer that has reportedly forced him to step down.
A press statement released by the club this afternoon read:
“Barcelona announce that it is has suspended the press conference from president Sandro Rosell planned for midday. As well as that, the media Christmas lunch has been cancelled.
“Later today the club will issue a further release. Until that time we will not make any announcement about this matter. We regret any inconvenience this decision may cause.”
A further update from Talksport radio claims that Vilanova is currently being operated on in a Spanish hospital.

Ex-Sky Sports pundit Andy Gray has admitted that he considered taking his own life following his sacking. The 56-year-old, who was sacked in a sexism row that erupted following comments he made about a female official, told the London Evening Standard that he was emotionally damaged by the criticism. When asked whether he had thought about suicide, he made the admission: "Yes. I would be lying if I said I didn't. "I had never felt like I have felt from January 25 [last year] onwards." Recalling the controversy, which also saw host Richard Keys resign after his enforced suspension, Gray added: "It (more)...

The Sky News broadcaster has used Twitter to accuse a respected lawyer of 'simpering'. Guess the gender of his target
Just 18 minutes into his appearance at the Leveson inquiry, the Guardian editor-in-chief, Alan Rusbridger, had already been asked where he stood on privacy and the public interest, prior notification and whether subterfuge for journalists was ever justified.
This was obviously not enough for Adam Boulton, the veteran broadcaster at Sky News, who turned to Twitter to harrumph: "The incompetence of #Leveson beggars belief. Why on earth has #womanontheleft been called in to simper at @arusbridger?"
Can anyone remember the last time a man was accused of "simpering"?
No, me neither.
It's one of those words, like "game", "feisty", "sassy", and oh so many more, which are rarely used for anyone male. The online Macmillan dictionary even helpfully provides an example for its definition ("trying to be friendly and pleasant in...

I had planned to write this review without mentioning Pro Evolution Soccer, so now that’s out of the way, let me begin.
FIFA 12 is excellent. It is not only one of the best examples of football on a console, but it is also testament to what can be done when you don’t sit back and simply accept that you’re the best.
Going up against the common accusation that yearly sports releases are merely squad updates, FIFA 12 took what was already a successful formula and overhauled it, creating in the process, a new and better way to play the game.
Beginning with the biggest change which is that of defending. How many times in the past have we heard about, ‘New ways to dribble, New pass-and-move, New Rooney hair implants’? Very rarely have we heard, ‘New ways to contain the oncoming attacker and jockey it out for a throw-in’ – Exciting eh?...

EA Sports Image from FIFA Soccer 12
It’s amazing how two evolutionary tweaks can revolutionize a console game. That’s exactly what has happened with FIFA Soccer 12 from EA Sports, turning an already good game into what may be the best sports game of 2011.
This year’s version includes two upgrades – one on offense and one on defense – that make the game even more-realistic and fun to play. So-called “tactical defending,” alone, changes FIFA in an amazing way, and the counter to that,...

With this week’s release of the yearly Fifa instalment from EA – to generally very impressive reviews so far, as ever – I got to thinking about the next stage of innovations I’d like to see in the game for next year, which would specifically address the current state of the game. Obviously, this is all tongue-in-cheek stuff, so don’t go flipping your lids…
Twitter Superstars Social media represents a major new concern for today’s footballer, with many of them only pausing from strict, self-promotional tweetathons to play their weekly 90 minutes or have sex with each other’s wives and girlfriends (Allegedly), before immediately returning to their endless spouting. Fifa 13 should then include a management zone that monitors exactly how much criticism the incredibly short-sighted superstars on your team are levelling at your regime, in order to track which of them wants a move to a “bigger club”, like Wigan.

As another football season kicks off, along with it comes the demo of the latest outing of the best football game on the planet. FIFA 12 has the rather unenviable task of improving upon damn-near perfection in FIFA 11. Having played the undeniably brilliant demo, I can’t help but feel that it lacks a single outstanding factor that makes it stand above its predecessor, apart from the obligatory team updates.
The main improvement that I noticed playing the demo of FIFA 12 was that the players no longer look like evil life-size mannequins. The cold, glazed eyes and overly glossy skin texture have been replaced by a pleasingly naturalistic look that make the whole game quite literally feel more alive.
EA Sports have themselves admitted that most of the changes to this version have been ‘under the hood’. Features such as ‘Pro Player Intelligence,’ in which the players on the pitch have...

For years FIFA came runners up to the almighty Pro Evolution Soccer. It was a shock for EA as FIFA owned the rights to all the leagues, players, names etc, yet Pro continued to dominate the market. However, with FIFA 09 EA managed to equalise against the Konami giants, and finally in FIFA 10 and 11 they recorded back to back wins over its closest rivals, with FIFA 11 demonstrating the most perfected football game to date.
Now, year after year, we sit and ponder about the next instalment of FIFA. We question how it will remain the king of the sporting genre; we wonder if it will once again do justice to the beautiful game; and, more importantly, we day-dream about humiliating our mates and putting them in the fan-established 10 Club1.However, with FIFA 11 being as good as it was, one has to wonder how EA can improve FIFA 12 enough to justify fans...

The duo will be joined by a second commentary team, Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, who will call tournament matches for a more authentic real-world broadcast feel. "Alan will bring a fresh, new perspective and insight to FIFA 12, working alongside the trusted and well-known voice of Martin Tyler," said senior producer David Rutter.
