Less all-out horror and more a sci-fi thriller, Volition tells the story of James, who sees his mother die in a car crash in a vision two days before it actually happens. Unable to stop it because no-one will believe him, twenty-odd years later he has come out of the foster care system struggling with life because he knows everything is predestined. He then sees his own death and follows a path that he hopes will stop it.
Volition manages to have an interesting, captivating and detailed story that could easily get really confusing but because of how well the film is edited and made, is surprisingly easy to follow. We head back and forth in time, always leading back to present day...

After witnessing his own murder in the future, a clairvoyant man has no choice but to change his destiny in the new sci-fi thriller Volition. With the film out now on Apple TV, Prime Video, and other Digital platforms via Giant Pictures, we caught up with co-writer/director/co-producer Tony Dean Smith and co-writer/producer Ryan W. Smith in a new Q&a feature to discuss how real-life epiphanies shaped the movie's story, filming grueling night shoots in Vancouver, and collaborating with friends and family to make their movie a reality.
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, and congratulations on Volition! How and when did you come up with the idea for this film?

Snarled loops of time travel have proved a surprisingly versatile and rewarding fantasy-cinema trope in recent years, from the big-budget likes of “Edge of Tomorrow” to such enterprising indies as “Predestination,” not to mention comedies (“Palm Springs”), horror (“Happy Death Day”), romance (“Before I Fall”) and more. “Volition” makes a worthy addition to that roster: . Tony Dean Smith’s clever thriller lands July 10 on digital platforms and available theater screens, where it should continue to be as well-received by sci-fi fans as it has been on the genre-festival circuit.
Living above an auto shop, lagging on rent, his appearance an unpromising cross between aging hipster and Ratso Rizzo, James aka Jimmy (Adrian Glynn McMorran) exudes a scraping-by vibe unimproved by his landlord’s eviction threats. "Maybe it's time you learn the truth about your condition." Giant Pictures has debuted an official trailer for an indie sci-fi thriller titled Volition, which won the Best Feature award at the Philip K. Dick Film Festival last year. The word "volition" means "a choice or decision made by the will"; making the choice for yourself. The film is about a man afflicted with clairvoyance who tries to change his fate when a series of events leads to a vision of his own imminent murder. An interesting twist. It's described as a "tightly-wound puzzle of a ride", and a "mind-bending science-fiction thriller, where the line between fate and free-will blurs." Starring Adrian Glynn McMorran, Magda Apanowicz, John Cassini, Frank Cassini, Aleks Paunovic, and Bill Marchant. Not really sure what to make of this from this trailer, there's a lot going on but not a lot of it makes sense at first.

A man afflicted with clairvoyance tries to change his fate when a series of events leads to a vision of his own imminent murder in Volition. Check out the trailer:
From the Smith Brothers and Director Tony Dean Smith comes Volition — a mind-bending science-fiction thriller, where the line between fate and free-will blurs.
When you know your world is predetermined, it’s hard to care about your choices. This is true for James Odin. On a rain-soaked night in 1991, two cars collide, leaving all drivers dead on the scene, including the mother of the lone survivor — a child — James Odin. It’s a tragedy. But what’s more tragic is that seven-year-old James foresaw the accident happening two months prior. He tried to prevent it, but who’s going to believe a kid who claims to see the future? Twenty-plus years later, James is a product of the failed foster care system.

Season two of You ends on a creepy moment when Joe spies on his new neighbor after moving into a house with Love. We see the said neighbor from behind as she's lounging in her yard. Unsurprisingly, the cliffhanger left the internet eager for answers as to who this mystery woman could be now that season three is in the works. One of the most popular ideas is that Joe tracked down his estranged mom and moved in right next to her. Convincing, right? Well, there are myriad reasons why this theory doesn't necessarily track, including one from Joe's actor himself.
First, let's quickly talk about why this might have seemed like a feasible theory. Joe's all settled now with Love, who's pregnant with their baby (supposedly) and has more or less gotten them cleared of charges. Now that he's found an equally yoked partner, it makes sense for him...

The annual musical installment of The Magicians loses its way a bit but delivers some powerful character moments for Margo.
TV
This The Magicians review contains spoilers.
The Magicians Season 4 Episode 10
The best thing that can be said about this episode of The Magicians is that it showcased Summer Bishil’s Mvp performance as Margo, which has been one of the most admirable aspects of season 4. Unfortunately, that’s about all that was great about “All That Hard, Glossy Armor,” the much-anticipated annual musical episode which, despite a few fun moments, mostly fell flat. The pursuit of Enyalius was surprisingly anti-climactic, and Zelda’s awakening to the Library’s betrayal was at best a set-up for future action. And whether you found Margo’s liberation of the women of the southern tribes inspiring or overly political, it’s unclear how her experience — and her newly acquired exorcising axes — will actually help with Eliot’s possession.

Penn Badgley is back as Joe in the second season of You, which will be available on Netflix starting December 26th.
You, the Lifetime adaptation of Caroline Kepnes' bestselling book about a young man named Joe who starts stalking and manipulating the woman of his dreams into falling in love with him, has officially moved to Netflix for its second season.
The collaboration from Greg Berlanti and The Magicians' Sera Gamble has already found a broader audience on the streaming service giant. The show is a brilliant subversion of the "Nice Guy" trope with a charismatic cast that included Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, and Shay Mitchell in Season 1.
You Season 2 will pick up following the horrific events of the Season 1 finale, with Joe—seemingly now going by Will—moving to Los Angeles from New York City to terrorize a new city with his machinations.

Lead actor and producer Eric McCormack made the announcement on Twitter on March 15, 2018, and even revealed that he's directing the Travelers Season 3 premiere.
Executive producers Brad Wright and Carrie Mudd also spoke about the show's departure from Showcase, saying, “We'd like to add our gratitude to our viewers in Canada on Showcase - as well as the Corus and Sky Vision teams - for two extraordinary seasons. We are excited to start shooting Season 3 this March in Vancouver, and to continue the Travelers story for fans in Canada and around the world, only on Netflix.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What does it take to make a good prequel TV series? (And feel free to include an example of a show that got it right or wrong.)
Allison Keene (@KeeneTV), Collider
A prequel TV series is the most successful when it uses familiar touchstones but creates its own world. “Hannibal” is probably the best example of this, where there were characters we recognized but the setting, experience, and modern time period were completely Bryan Fuller’s (wonderfully so). “Bates Motel” has been another positive example, especially as it nears its end. The time period is again modernized, but it keeps a surreal and retro feel. And...

Sneak Peek footage from the Syfy horror feature "12 Disasters", now available on DVD from Anchor Bay Entertainment, starring Magda Apanowicz, Ed Quinn, Roark Critchlow and Ryan Grantham:
"...its holiday season in the mountain village of 'Calvary', but merry and bright have suddenly fled town: There are mass bird deaths. Blood red water running from faucets.
"Grandmas impaled by humongous flying icicles. And for 18-year-old 'Jacey' (Apanowicz), a newly discovered gift has led her and her dad (Quinn) to the revelation that a beloved holiday carol may hold the key to a yuletide 'Mayan' apocalypse.

“No good deed goes unpunished.” Unless of course your good deed was waiting patiently for The Green Inferno to find distribution. I cannot tell you how excited I was to attend a screening last week and I was more than ready for possibly more gore than my stomach could handle.
In the film, Lorenza Izzo plays wide-eyed college freshman Justine, the daughter of a U.N. Ambassador and a young woman trying to find her place among international issues, protests, and hunger strikes. While roommate Kaycee (Sky Ferreira) is hip to the Bs surrounding the campus’ humanitarian group, Justine feels drawn to it. After being “shamed” at a group meeting for making a joke—shame being a common tool used among slacktivists—Justine can’t help but demand to participate in the group’s trip to the Peruvian jungle to protest the de-forestation and possible extermination of a local tribe.

The Green Inferno Movie Images Have Been Released. Eli Roth‘s The Green Inferno (2013) is closer than ever to actually being screened for audiences, as the official release of September 25th, 2015, is just around the corner. I’m extremely excited for this film, possibly overly joyous, but everything released so far has just maintained or raised my expectations. This will be so satisfying, I can taste it in my spit.
Bh Tilt, the production company behind this, has released a pair of new movie stills from the film, and as I mentioned earlier – my interest is still high, and nothing has changed.
The story revolves around idealistic young college graduates traveling to the amazon in order to ‘do good’, ‘protect the environment’, and ‘save the rainforest’. Of course, they’re welcomed a bit differently than they anticipated, and things go horribly, terrifyingly, deliciously wrong. It’s an homage to Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Eli Roth,...

We recently had an opportunity to catch up with Dominique Schilling (writer/director) and Caroline Risberg (producer)to discuss their new movie, A Reason, starring Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days). See what they had to say about working with a Hollywood legend, their biggest obstacle for this film and what they have in store next. What was the most memorable moment for you while making “A Reason”? Dominique: That’s a hard question. There are so many memorable moments, like when I first drove on to set or when we shot the driving scene with Magda Apanowicz and Nick Eversman. It was an extremely calm experience within the stress on set. Then there was the pool scene and the slap scene. Working with Marion Ross. I would have to say the last shot of the film got my biggest emotional reaction. The camera pulls out in one continuous...

If you’re at all in touch with your geek side, you already know about all the great horror movies that are Christmas-themed. Chances are you’ve stumbled across Silent Night, Deadly Night, Black Christmas, or Santa’s Slay. Everybody knows Batman Returns and Die Hard take place around December 25th. However, did you know that several disasters have occurred around the most wonderful time of the year?
Anchor Bay Entertainment and the SyFy Channel spent the past few years reminding us that even the holidays aren’t safe from catastrophic events which could bring about the end of the world. Disaster-oriented Christmas movies were becoming an annual tradition up until 2013. The two media giants banned together for three straight years to bring us a trilogy of B-movie entertainment that I think it’s high time they continue.

Some rather irritating news to unfortunately kick-off your weekend with is news that Eli Roth's latest gore-filled horror offering 'The Green Inferno' has fallen victim to a late release date shifting! Originally planned to arrive on 5 September, less than one month away, the movie has now been pulled completely with no replacement date offered. There is even the possibility that the project will not even make it to theatres at all. It all boils down to financier issues with Worldview Entertainment and so Open Road have had to pull the plug on its planned September opening. 'The Green Inferno' stars Lorenza Izzo ('Aftershock'), Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolas Martinez and Aaron Burns. Let's just hope this gets resolved and that the movie gets an adequate release plan in the future....

They wanted to help the tribe, but not by becoming their next meal. Unfortunately for the student activists in Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno, crash-landing in the rainforest they are trying to save could slate them to be sliced and served as dinner for cannibals. Available for free on iTunes and Google Play from Nanai Games, The Green Inferno: Survival is based on the characters and situations of Eli Roth’s film. Eli Roth continues to prove that he is quickly becoming a titan in the horror genre with his first directorial feature film in six years, The Green Inferno.
Paying homage to much-missed Cannibal-horror film (see Cannibal Holocaust, Man From Deep River, Eaten Alive!), The Green Inferno follows a group of college students who become stranded in the Amazon after their plane crashes when returning from a successful protest. The survivors soon find themselves imprisoned by a local tribe with a taste for human flesh.
Like all good horror films should be, The Green Inferno is nerve-shreddingly tense, packed with a foreboding atmosphere of dread, and is in equal parts visually grotesque and gorgeous. Whilst this lovingly pays tribute to the cannibal film, Roth breathes...

You gotta love a guy who allows (hell, he probably wrote the copy!) for a movie to be sold as being from his “twisted mind.” Then again, when you’re Eli Roth and you make your living cranking out snuff films disguised as horror movies, there are worse ways to be described, I suppose. Check out the new trailer for his latest “The Green Inferno,” which finds a group of pretty American college students going to the Amazon to save the rain forest or some dumb shit like that. Their plane ends up crashing and the locals decide to snack on them. I think they call that ironic. Or tragic. Or one of those. Either way: Yummy! The flick stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, Aaron Burns, and Ignacia Allamand, and comes for dinner this September 5th.

It's been six years since writer/director Eli Roth's last full feature length directorial effort and despite the title sounding like a cheesy superhero movie his latest project 'The Green Inferno' all looks set to be his sickest effort to date. The grim and grisly new horror which focuses on a group of goody two-shoes activists who head to Peru to save a dying tribe. But when their plane crashes in the jungle it's the ungrateful tribe that turn on the students. 'The Green Inferno' stars Lorenza Izzo ('Aftershock'), Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolas Martinez and Aaron Burns. Eli Roth is one of the biggest names in mainstream horror right now, thanks to the success of his Hostel and Cabin Fever franchises. His fingerprints are also all over many other projects, from Netflix series Hemlock Grove to The Last Exorcism, the upcoming Knock Knock and We tv’s recently announced South of Hell series. However, Roth’s next film in theaters will actually be his long-anticipated cannibal flick, The Green Inferno.
Gore aficionados have been waiting patiently for this movie, and they’ll finally get to see it this September on the big screen. But until it arrives in theaters, at least they will have this thrilling, highly disturbing trailer to make the wait a little more bearable. Check it out below:

The takeaway here? Stay away from the Amazon. That, and don’t help people. It just gets you into trouble. And on their dinner table. As the dinner. Take a gander at the new poster for Eli Roth’s “The Green Inferno,” which “follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone… and that no good deed goes unpunished.” Like I said–helping people is just a pain in the ass. Written by Guillermo Amoedo and Roth, the film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Sky Ferreira, Magda Apanowicz, Nicolás Martínez, and Aaron Burns, and opens September 5th, most likely in limited release.

Falling in love with TV shows is a wonderful feeling. There’s the rush of tingling excitement over each new episode. Earlier this year, Syfy debuted the first season of the Canadian sci-fi series Continuum and I fell head over heels. I loved the idea of a time-traveling series with the heroine stuck in our present day trying to get back to her future and having to keep her identity a secret. There was a sense that everything could be snatched away from her for a second time as she struggled to maintain some kind of life as a police officer and making tentative friends and allies. So as we followed Detective Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), we grew more immersed in her intriguing world straddling the police department dilemmas with her partner Det. Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster) and her attempts to find a way home with the aid of a young teen super-genius,...

Season 2 of Showcase’s Continuum (currently airing on Friday nights at 10pm on Syfy) is up and running and we spoke with star Erik Knudsen whose character, Alec Sadler is the most important character of the sci-fi series. In the first season, Sadler was Kiera Cameron’s (Rachel Nichols) high tech teenage sidekick and only friend after she time traveled back to 2012, from the year 2077 to stop a terrorist group from her time called Liber8. With Alec’s help, Kiera hopes to preserve the past and find a way back to the future and reunite with her family. But at the start of this season, we find out that it was Sadler from the future (played by William B.
