MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.
So far, talking about the MCU specifically, Spider-Man has three standalone movies and a fourth on the way. This was confirmed several months ago by producer Amy Pascal, who confirmed that the work on the sequel has been ongoing.
We know that the upcoming still doesn’t have a director attached to it, Watts gave up on the sequel movies, focusing on other projects but several names have been mentioned. Drew Goddard, Justin Lin, and Sam Raimi...

The MCU has a lineup of upcoming movies, despite Marvel Studios facing challenges with recent projects. There’s been discussion about reducing the number of releases, as fans are growing weary of lower-quality shows and films. However, Spider-Man remains a consistent draw for audiences, being the most profitable Marvel franchise across various media.
In the MCU, Spider-Man has already starred in three standalone movies, with a fourth installment confirmed several months ago by producer Amy Pascal. She verified that work on the sequel has been in progress.
The upcoming sequel still lacks a director, as Jon Watts has moved on from the franchise to focus on other projects. However, several names have been floated around, including Drew Goddard, Justin Lin, and Sam Raimi. None of these names have been officially confirmed, especially considering that Goddard and Justin Lin are also involved in other significant projects.

Spider-Man 4 rumors are running wild, but the potential involvement of Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan has to be the craziest of them all. The film has already been through a number of plausible directors, but none seem to fit the requirements of either Sony or Marvel. T-minus two years for the release date of the upcoming Project Hail Mary. Amazon MGM Studios has finally set a date for the Ryan Gosling astronaut thriller. Deadline recently reported that the film, which is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is preparing for launch on March 20, 2026. There are currently no other big titles scheduled for that weekend. Amy Pascal, Gosling, Lord, Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor and Andy Weir are all on board as producers of the film. Drew Goddard wrote the adapted screenplay based on the Andy Weir novel. Weir had also written the novel for The Martian, which served as source material for the Matt Damon film of the same name. Goddard is also set to executive produce with his Goddard Textiles partner Sarah Esberg, along with Ken Kao.
“The movie, filmed for Imax, is based on Weir’s (The Martian) novel and set in the near future.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 cannot seem to shake off the chaos surrounding its production. Sony and Marvel would love to bring back the web-slinger for a fourth film, as it was Spider-Man: No Way Home that gave their respective last billion-dollar film. However, the film hasn’t locked a director yet, with Jon Watts stepping away from the duties. One of the latest rumors suggested that Sam Raimi, the director of the original Spider-Man film series, will be helming the film.

If Civil War star Cailee Spaeny isn’t already on every casting shortlist in town, then her 2024 is about to etch her name in stone.
Coming off of her Golden Globe-nominated performance as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, the Missouri native returns to the big screen with another critically acclaimed A24 film in Alex Garland’s Civil War. Andrew Scott always kills it as a villain, and his big role in Netflix’s Ripley proves it.
“[Ripley creator Steven] Zaillian landed on Scott as his Ripley because ‘I love the look of Andrew. Andrew has an incredible face, and he’s complicated in the way I felt the character was. I’d seen him as Moriarty [in Sherlock], I’d seen him as the priest in Fleabag, and I thought just between those two roles that’s a big range.’”

Drew Goddard has been tapped to write and direct a fifth Matrix film, but is it doomed to fail?
“Goddard is a talented filmmaker, though his filmography is far from flawless. And apparently he approached Warner with an exciting pitch they couldn’t refuse, though it’s safe to assume the studio was just waiting for a chance to milk this beloved franchise.

The Matrix franchise is one of the major sci-fi franchises in cinematic history. The Wachowskis came out with the first movie back in 1999 and shocked the world with one of the most innovative stories in the world of sci-fi. Since then, the sisters have created two sequels together while Lana, alone, worked on the fourth film from the series, The Matrix Resurrections. And while not all of these movies were received with acclaim like the first one, The Matrix is undoubtedly a pillar of sci-fi cinema and one of the most important movies ever made.
And while the fourth movie seemingly teased an end for Neo and the story of The Matrix, the guys at Warner Bros. have different plans, as a fifth movie is in the works at the studio, although The Wachowskis won’t be coming back to direct it. Namely, as has been confirmed by the studio,...

Warner Bros. has announced that the studio will be developing a new film in The Matrix franchise with filmmaker Drew Goddard. Though not many details have been revealed, the studio put out a statement saying that Goddard came to them with an idea that was original while also respecting the canon created by the Wachowskis in their films.
While a new Matrix film is interesting, fans still seem to be getting over the disappointment of The Matrix Resurrections. The fourth film in the franchise came eighteen years after the trilogy ended and opened to extremely divisive reviews from critics and audiences alike. If Warner Bros. decides to work on another film in the franchise, here are three mistakes that the fourth film made that the studio needs to avoid in The Matrix 5.

The action franchise that made Keanu Reeves the highest-paid actor for a project is reportedly developing a fifth film. The Matrix franchise released three films in the late ’90s and early 2000s helmed by directors Lily and Lana Wachowski. A fourth film, The Matrix: Resurrections, was released in 2021, with only Lana Wachowski having directorial duties. As the franchise returns for a fifth planned film, neither of the Wachowski’s are returning to direct the film.
Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix franchise will continue with a fifth film being planned at WB
Fans are not sure about the fifth film, especially after the studio decided to appoint a new director. Drew Goddard, who created Daredevil for Netflix, will take over from the Wachowski’s. However, fans highly doubt that the lack of Wachowskis’ creative minds would help a fifth film.

The most unexpected movie news of the day hit the internet today: Drew Goddard is attached to co-write and direct a fifth "The Matrix" film for Warner Bros. Discovery. It's unexpected largely because Lana Wachowski -- one of the key creative voices of this franchise, a director of the original trilogy, and the solo director of 2021's "The Matrix Resurrections" -- is stepping into an executive producer role this time around, since Goddard reportedly came to the studio with an idea for a new entry in this franchise that excited the folks in charge. On the surface, he may seem like a somewhat odd choice to usher "The Matrix" into the future, but several projects in Goddard's filmography lead us to believe he could be a great choice to take the reins.

Almost 25 years to the day “The Matrix” debuted in theaters, Warner Bros. has announced another installment in the blockbuster franchise is coming soon.

A case can be made that Drew Goddard is one of the more underappreciated genre voices to break through in the last 20 years. The filmmaker has had an impressive track record, from writing and directing a bonafide cult classic like Cabin in the Woods to also penning one of the best sci-fi movies of this century, 2015’s The Martian, which was adapted from the Andy Weir novel of the same name and earned Goddard an Oscar nomination. He also wrote the original Cloverfield and helmed the extremely overlooked Bad Times at the El Royale. In nerd circles, his name should be revered.
Even with that esteem though, we cannot ignore that a vast shadow of trepidation descended Wednesday afternoon when the news hit: Goddard has been tapped to write and direct what will be a fifth and currently untitled Matrix film—a first for a series which up until now...

Ready to see how much farther down the rabbit hole goes? A new chapter of The Matrix franchise is about to start, as the first film not directed by one the Wachowski siblings is now in the works. Currently known as The Matrix 5, the new movie has The Cabin In The Woods' Drew Goddard on board to write and direct this outing.
Lana Wachowski, who directed 2021's The Matrix Resurrections, is on board to executive produce this effort for Warner Bros.
Naturally, plot details are being withheld for now, nor do we know who from the films — including the likes of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss – might be returning, if any. All Warners president of production Jesse Ehrman would tease is that the story will advance the established world without straying too far from what made the series a success.

Get ready to return to "The Matrix," this time with a brand new filmmaker at the helm. Warner Bros. has indeed decided to revisit one of the most beloved action/sci-fi franchises of all time, with Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods") set to write and direct the forthcoming sequel installment. Warner Bros. is going back to the Matrix.
The studio announced that a fifth “Matrix” movie is in development. It’ll be the first installment without Lana or Lily Wachowski as directors. Instead, “The Martian” screenwriter Drew Goddard will handle filmmaking duties. He will also write the script and produce with his partner at Goddard Textiles, Sarah Esberg. Sony hopes to wash the taste of Madame Web out of people’s mouths with a new official Spider-Man that has the strength of the MCU behind it. The next entry of the Marvel Studios Spider-Man franchise has been carefully planning its next steps as No Way Home celebrated the web crawler’s film legacy, then ultimately took Peter Parker back to his smaller roots in the end as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, the previous trilogy director, Jon Watts, will not be returning to the new entry, so it’s now up in the air for who can take the reins.
World of Reel reveals that Sony and Marvel Studios are wanting to start production this fall, around September or October. However, they have not yet signed on a new director. It was reported last year that the front runner for the job in the wake of Watts stepping...

Tom Holland became a household name thanks to his portrayal of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following in the web-slinging footsteps of Andrew Garfield, Holland made his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. He then went on to star in his own Spider-Man trilogy – Homecoming, Far From Home, and the record-breaking No Way Home – becoming the youngest actor to ever play the iconic hero on the big screen.

Gilded Newport Mysteries, a crime fiction film set in 1895, the age of Victorian elitism, the birth of bureaucratic espionage, suffocating corsets, and the rise of the women’s suffrage movement. Despite being a murder mystery, Gilded Newport Mysteries makes me wonder about how little has changed over the years. Though on the surface it seems the world has changed for the better, closeted chauvinists still run the world. Emma, an intellectual woman in an era where such traits were discouraged in women, finds herself frequently sidelined from crucial decision-making. This exclusion highlights the pervasive influence of gender bias, a theme also seen in the film Enola Holmes. The references to Arthur Conan Doyle within the story further highlight this connection.

Despite recent setbacks in the quality of Marvel Studios’ projects, the MCU still has an impressive lineup of upcoming movies. While there have been discussions about reducing the number of releases, Spider-Man remains a consistently lucrative franchise, drawing audiences to theaters. Currently, the MCU features three standalone Spider-Man movies, with a fourth installment confirmed by producer Amy Pascal several months ago. However, production was temporarily halted during the WGA Strike. Recent rumors suggested Jon Watts might return as the director for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ but a reliable source, MyTimeToShineHello, has allegedly confirmed that Jon Watts will not be directing the upcoming Spider-Man movie, according to posts on X.
I was able to confirm that Jon Watts is not coming back to direct Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. Who would you like to see directing the film?

Drew Goddard is once again emerging as the leading candidate for the director’s role.

This was confirmed several months ago by producer Amy Pascal, who confirmed that the work on the sequel has been ongoing but stopped due to the solidarity with the ongoing WGA Strike at the time. Just several months ago, rumors were circulating that Watts is ready to return again as ‘Spider-Man’ 4 director.

The sixth episode of NCIS Sydney went in a slightly novel direction, where, for the first time, one of the team’s members was under suspicion of being a criminal. Constable Evie Cooper, who had done a stellar job until now, was the focus of this episode, as she was assumed to be working for a drug cartel. She hadn’t taken a day off since Jim had inducted her into the unit, but when the new case arrived, she went Awol, arousing suspicion. Mackey and others tried solving the new murder mystery, but it was all linked to Evie’s past. The new episode seemed too much like an undercover cop movie from the seventies, but there were humorous moments, especially when Blue walked in, explaining how she had made a breakthrough.

Back in 1992 Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson — who had met the University of Texas in Dallas and were roomies — decided to make a movie. But after spending $10,000 and shooting 13 minutes of the crime caper comedy “Bottle Rocket,” they ran out of money. Eventually, the short and the full script made its way to Oscar-winning writer/director/producer James L. Brooks. It just so happened that Columbia had a deal with Brooks to finance a low-budget film selected by the filmmaker. And in 1996, the feature-length version of “Bottle Rocket” was released with Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson and James Caan. Though the film didn’t set the box office on fire, critics realized Anderson was a new and exciting cinematic voice.
