- Chapell's was formed in 1941 for a series of recordings of the Queen's Hall Light Orchestra conducted by Charles Williams. In 1988 Zomba acquires Chappell from the Warner Chappell Music Group, which is integrated into the Bruton Music office. In 1996 Zomba Production Music launched, offering Bruton, Chappell & FirstCom under one roof. In 2002, The Zomba Music group is bought by Bertlesmann Music Group (BMG). In 2007, BMG (including Chappell's) is bought by Universal Music Publishing. but has also been owned by Marlowlynn Ltd, As of 2015, part of the Universal Music Group, which has offices in 20 countries and an international network of sub-publishers.
- The UK company Chappell & Co. was formed in 1810 as a music publisher and piano manufacturer. In 1941 Chappell & Co. formed the recording company Chappell Recorded Music, which originally focused on 78 rpm recordings of the Queens Hall Light Orchestra. These recordings were Library Music (production) recordings meant for use in radio, film and television productions.
Chappell Recorded Production Music Library had their own recording studio in Bond Street, London.
