Season 12 of “MasterChef” reached an important milestone on July 20, when the All-Star competition revealed the Top 15. For the first time ever, “MasterChef” re-opened its doors to some of the most memorable and talented cooks in the series’ history. Shayne Wells was the most recently eliminated chef. The 18-year old from Spring, Texas was preceded by Stephen Lee, a 54-year old from Palm Springs, Cate Meade, a 30-year old from Chicago, Alejandro Valdivia, a 40-year old from Atlanta and Samantha Daily, a 23-year old from West Des Moines. There are now 15 cooks remaining in the competition to become the next MasterChef.

Most of us know Zach Woods for portraying Gabe Lewis on the HBO hit show Silicon Valley. I was always a fan of his work on The Office. In any event Woods has become a household name and is one of the top actors when it comes to playing, strange, geeky, almost uncomfortably scary roles that aren’t technically supposed to be scary. How much is Woods like the characters he plays? Turns out the way he talks in real life isn’t too far a stretch from some of the characters he plays. Last night Woods stopped by Conan on TBS

Think of your standard YouTube character tribute videos. Three seasons of a show like “Silicon Valley” usually get you some classic one-liners, memorable character beats and a few outtakes for good measure, all wrapped up in a few minutes.
This one for Jared, Zach Woods’ character on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” runs the length of an entire episode of the show.
Jared has always been at the center of the “Silicon Valley” story (there he is on the Season 1 poster, in full Steve Jobs pose, literally at the side of Pied Piper co-founder Richard Hendricks), but Woods has grown to be the show’s heart too. In a world of backstabbing and self-interest, Jared has remained the show’s sole, true altruist.
“I sometimes think of it as an archetypical family,” Woods said. “Erlich is the rambunctious father, Kumail is the baby boy, Gilfoyle is the cat and Richard is like the favorite son.

You can do whatever you want in the sewers," Animals co-creator Phil Matarese says. "When we're making episodes about rats, you can tell loose, crazy stories. You can tell a really fucked-up story about a rat hiding his boner from a girl, but it's mostly about this kid who just likes a girl a lot."
"The boner is his heart," executive producer Mark Duplass counters matter-of-factly.
"The boner is his heart," Matarese rejoins, laughing. "He's got a heart boner."

The Screen Actors Guild has announced their list of nominations for the best performances of 2011. I have to point out that I'm surprised Tom Hardy and Joel Edgarton weren't nominated for their roles in Warrior, because they were pretty damn awesome in that film. I think they deserved a nom more than Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio but his performance in J. Edgar wasn't his best. Brad Pitt will end up taking home the award for Moneyball though. It was great to see Bridesmaids and The Help get a nomination for best ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see who takes home the award on this list, and how many of them will make their way to the Oscars.
Who would you like to see take home the award?

Nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are in, and Emma Stone is leading the way. Her summer sleeper hit, "The Help," nabbed the most movie nominations with four, followed by Oscar-fav "The Artist" with three and a handful of others with two ("Bridesmaids," "The Descendants," "Moneyball").
On the television side of things, "Modern Family" soared to the top of the pack with five nods, while "30 Rock" and "Dexter" each garnered two. HBO reeled in the most total noms with 11.

TV Fanatic's end-of-season Report Card series includes our favorite summer hits, as well. Today, we break down the second season of USA's Covert Affairs.
Are there enough superlatives to describe Auggie's greatness? What were the best plot lines, and which fell a little bit short? What's keeping the show from reaching the next level of truly must-watch TV instead of just a fun summer escape?
Here's our critic's postmortem of a summer of Covert Affairs ...
Best character: Is it too obvious to say Auggie? Is he not everyone's favorite? Maybe it's his dashing good looks, his relentless charm, or even his ability to his job with a ridiculous disadvantage, but it is extremely difficult not to love Auggie Anderson.
Best episode: If you find Auggie as interesting as I do, it is hard to go with any episode besides "Half A World Away." Finally learning how Auggie became blind was great,...

It is most certainly a new era at The Office.
Following Steve Carell's Michael Scott's departure after seven bumbling, fumbling and ultimately lovable seasons, the show is undergoing a series of changes. While a new regional manager has yet to be introduced, joining the cast full time as Katy Bates's replacement as CEO of Sabre -- the company that owns Dunder Mifflin -- will be James Spader, who played a sort of demented Jedi mind trick business man in last season's star-packed finale.
The show's cast has begun work on season eight, and E! Online caught up with some of its stars to see how the James Spader experience has been thus far.
"He scares me," Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin, laughed. "It's great. The energy he has is so totally different. The writetrs have done really a great job. He has these demented arguments that on the surface make no sense,...

Just in time for the new episodes of The Office which begin airing this week, NBC released another companion web series The Podcast. The series follows the character Gabe Lewis' (Zach Woods) attempts to get his new podcast for the Sabre website off the ground. Inspired by jealousy of character Oscar Martinez's (Oscar Nuñez)'s There's No Accounting for Style blog, Gabe attempts to impress corporate with his initiative. Of course things go awry as he records conversations that should remain off the record. The first three episodes have been released, chronicling the creation, recording of the first entry, and the grand debut of Gabe's podcast. Also released was a behind the scenes clip with some of The Office cast members talking about their own interests in podcasts. Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.
The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 20th. See the complete list below.

The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.
There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.
Check out the list of Film and TV nominations below and tell us what your favorite are!

Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)
The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.
The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!
Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

The complete list of nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows below. The ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2011.
Nothing really to highlight here, unfortunately. SAG voters apparently didn’t care for Halle Berry’s performance as much as the Golden Globes did, because she’s not on this list. And neither is Idris Elba, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe. The cast of For Colored Girls got no love either.
The significance here is that SAG nominees and winners are voted on by members of the union – essentially, their peers.
But one thing that should be obvious by now is that the Oscar race is going to come down to 4 films and the performances in those films: The Social Network, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and The Fighter. I still have to see the last 2.

Steve Carell began shooting his final season on "The Office" this week, and the show will spend a considerable amount of screen time in the year to come looking for his replacement.
"We've got something cooked up," executive producer Paul Lieberstein (who also plays Hr rep Toby) tells Zap2it. "I don't want to say what it is, but we're planning on exploring how to fill Michael's role on the air. There will be a search committee, maybe."

Below, we offer some early odds on who might be getting Michael's office by the end of the season -- mostly from inside the branch, but with a couple outside possibilities as well.
