Star Wars is a franchise that has defined the sci-fi genre for generations to come, with every aspect of the galaxy far, far away being quite unique and visually appealing for fans old and new. George Lucas took the visual aspect of the franchise one step further with the breathtaking character designs, art, set decor, and costumes for the prequel trilogy.

Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, promising plenty of action, as creator Leslye Headland has mentioned in numerous interviews.
However, the trailer also included a surprising reveal due to an accidental subtitle.
At the 0:20 mark of the trailer, Amandla Stenberg, who plays Mae, the former padawan of Lee Jung-jae’s Master Sol, is heard saying, “I didn’t do it.” However, the subtitle mistakenly credits the line to “Osha,” not Mae.
So, why is this subtitle significant? If you’ve been following ‘The Acolyte,’ you know that one of the show’s biggest mysteries involves someone hunting down and killing Jedi.
The trailers also teased the presence of ‘The Acolyte,’ a dark force user likely responsible for these attacks. Fans have speculated that Mae, who is hinted to be this dark force user, has a twin sister named Osha, who is presumably still training under Jedi Master Sol.

Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, and it promised a lot of action, something that the creator herself, Leslye Headland promised in her many appearances across the media.
But the trailer also revealed something far more shocking, in the form of a accidentally included subtitle.

Hayden Christensen couldn’t simply figure out his steps while filming George Lucas’s Star Wars prequel trilogy. Christensen kept falling frequently, especially during the filming of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. In a resurfaced bloopers gag reel, Natalie Portman is seen having way too much fun at Christensen’s misery.

There is a lot of Star Wars trivia that ends up being scraps of story beats that were left on the cutting room floor. From alternate reveals on scripts to protect the original story to more recent deleted scenes (like the one this article is about to discuss), Star Wars behind-the-scenes lore is rich with some of the most hilarious moments in the history of the franchise that had to be cut for the sake of better storytelling.

One such deleted scene comes from the final season of The Clone Wars, where Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex of the 501’s Clone Battalion are on their way to work with Clone Force 99, a batch of non-regular clones with desirable mutations. Anakin Skywalker’s descent into the dark side is the most tragic aspect of the original and prequel trilogy, as George Lucas deemed the first six movies as the Tragedy of Darth Vader. While the prequel trilogy was seen as a letdown compared to its predecessors, the time has been kind to these features, especially for its exploration of the complexity of Vader as a character.
Although several aspects contributed to Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader in the original trilogy, this could’ve been avoided had Mace Windu trained him instead of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s failings as a teacher played a major part in Anakin’s fall into the dark side, as the Jedi Master struggled between his duties to the council and respecting Qui-Gon’s last wish.

George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy introduced fans to Darth Vader and the character continues to provide fascinating avenues for storytelling even today. However, Lucas chose to finally tell Vader’s complete origin story in the Star Wars prequels, focusing on a young Anakin Skywalker before he fell to the dark side of the Force.

However, Vader’s origin story did not turn out to be what fans were expecting from the epic space opera saga. During an interview, Lucas addressed what fans were demanding for Vader’s origins in the prequels and why he did not pay any heed to fan demand. Instead, Lucas crafted a different and more nuanced tale that ended up polarizing fans. Here is what George Lucas had to say about Vader’s origin story.

When you think of the Star Wars films, George Lucas is the immediate name that comes to mind. The pioneering efforts of the genius filmmaker created a new cinematic revolution in Hollywood that is still seen as the benchmark for all aspiring sci-fi directors today.

But Lucas could well have had competition in this space if popular novelist and screenplay writer David Goyer had gone through with his original script for a Star Wars film. The Man of Steel writer who is also known for his work in other Marvel and DC films, had written a story which was to have been helmed by none other than Guillermo Del Toro, but failed to materialize.

Nearly seven years after its release, one of the most controversial scenes in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi continues to be when Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master and veritable legend, tells the next generation about what the Jedi really represent. While training the franchise’s newest protagonist, Rey (Daisy Ridley), Mark Hamill’s now grizzled and ancient Luke intones, “The Jedi are romanticized, deified. But if you strip away the myth and look at their deeds, the legacy of the Jedi is failure; hypocrisy; hubris.”
The scene wasn’t taken well by some corners of the Star Wars fandom in 2017, and it’s not taken well now. Yet I’ve been thinking quite a bit about it in lieu of Disney+’s upcoming and hotly anticipated new Star Wars series, The Acolyte. Revenge Of The Sith marks a pivotal moment in the Star Wars universe, particularly the Skywalker Saga as it cements Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the Dark Side. The film features several brutal moments, which slowly build up to Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader after he succumbs to the Dark Side.
Count Dooku’s death is one of the most brutal moments in Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (Image Credit: Lucasfilm).
However, one brutal moment from the film, namely the death of Count Dooku at the hands of Anakin wasn’t exactly scripted as it appears in the final film. Instead, the scene was changed during the conceptualization of the duel’s stunt choreography and added Count Dooku’s brutal fate. Given the complex emotions the scene was trying to convey, actor Christopher Lee brilliantly portrayed Count Dooku’s death despite the scene being changed on the fly.

Even though his character's backstory has been explored to death through a myriad of books, prequels, TV shows, animated series, and more, Darth Vader remains one of the best movie villains of all time, especially if you're only looking at the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Not only is he a scary, menacing, deadly presence in that original trilogy, but he also has a tragic arc, eventually redeeming himself despite a lifetime of terrible deeds.
The redemption would come later, though. For the first film, originally titled "Star Wars" but commonly thought of now as "A New Hope" (since there are so many other movies with "Star Wars" in the title), writer-director George Lucas had one main goal: make his big bad villain scary. Darth Vader had to be an ominous presence from the jump. The audience had to take one look at the guy and immediately know he was bad news.

At the heart of The Acolyte, the all-new Star Wars series on Disney+, there are myriad mysteries at play. Which masked figure is killing the Jedi? And what’s the deal with Amandla Stenberg’s Mae, the enigmatic assassin seen doing serious damage to several Jedi Masters in the show’s action-packed trailers?

"Star Wars" is filled with all sorts of wonderful and strange creatures, most of them background ones that only appear for a few minutes and never show up again. While any other franchise would leave those characters as background oddities, "Star Wars" turns them into stars deserving of their own standalone stories. Any character, no matter how small, is likely to have an extensive background story full of twists and turns, like connecting Yaddle's backstory to that of Count Dooku.
This is also how we get a character like Melch the Ugnaught, a one-off side character in "Star Wars Rebels" that became a beloved side character and hero of Lothal. Though "Star Wars" is full of great alien-sounding names like Ahsoka Tano, Leia Organa, Kit Fisto or Qui-Gon Jinn, there are other that sound, well, less so. Ahsoka was a successful Star Wars show that received high viewership and critical acclaim. While the series enjoys a vast family fanbase, there are hardcore fans who believe that it couldn’t live up to the gritty storytelling of Andor. Sure, by the time the Revenge of the Sith came out, fans were more satisfied with the story, but do you remember how much hate was directed towards Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace when it first came out? When “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” debuted on May 19, 1999, few movies before (or since) were greeted with more fevered anticipation. Not only was the movie the first new “Star Wars” movie in a generation, but it was touted as the first of a prequel trilogy charting the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight fated to turn to the dark side as Darth Vader.
Despite the breathless build up, by the end of that summer, the near-universal consensus was that “The Phantom Menace” was, at best, a colossal disappointment and, at worst, a calamitous embarrassment. Some blamed the decision by George Lucas — directing for the first time since 1977’s “A New Hope” — to start the story with a precocious 9-year-old Anakin (Jake Lloyd). Others railed against the slapstick antics and pidgin English of Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best), hyped as the first-ever CG main character in a live-action movie.

The public's consideration of George Lucas' 1999 film "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" has dipped and swerved like a roller coaster. Those of us who were alive in 1999 are likely astonished to have witnessed "Phantom Menace" go from being one of the most successful films of all time, to one of the most disappointing franchise movies of all time, to one of the most outwardly hated blockbusters of all time, to one of the most unjustly maligned films of all time, to finally being considered a vital (if clunky) part of a long-running sci-fi saga with its share of highs and lows.
In truth, "The Phantom Menace" is rather bad. Lucas' dialogue is dry and dull, his characters staid and bland. It's the stiffest, most mannered sci-fi blockbuster one might ever see, lacking in personality, wit, humor, fun, or excitement. The story of "The Phantom Menace" infamously surrounds...

Jango Fett is a man of mystery and action. His rugged good looks become apparent when you remove the iconic Mandalorian helmet. Clad in his sleek armour, he's the blueprint for the entire clone army, which tells you everything you need to know about his visual appeal.
Unfortunately, he didn't get much screen time, but what he did have was memorable. Jango is the quintessential bounty hunter, with a...

Episode I – The Phantom Menace marked George Lucas’s return to the director’s chair since A New Hope as he once again introduced new characters and stories in the space opera. While the film was a huge box office hit, it received mixed reviews with many criticizing its storyline, casting choices, performances, and awkward dialogues.

Even for a die-hard Star Wars fan like Ewan McGregor, the weight of carrying the franchise and one of its leading IPs can get a bit too much for his temperament. The legendary Jedi Master has had his fair share of troubles and hardships to overcome until his protégé Anakin Skywalker transformed into Darth Vader. A soul-crushing experience such as that one equated to a betrayal of everything he valued and reflected an utter failure on his part to save his friend from the Dark Side of the Force.

During the production of Episode II of the galactic saga, Attack of the Clones, a weird tension brewed behind the scenes while filming a sequence that required Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen to improvise. Both actors joined the beloved franchise as Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker in the prequel trilogy, who initially meet on The Phantom Menace and eventually fall in love in Star Wars: Episode II.

The Star Wars saga is pretty perfect just the way it is, and perhaps no die-hard fan would argue otherwise. But what if things didn’t end the way they did? What if some characters faced wildly different ends than what was originally penned down for them, like Anakin Skywalker, for instance? Well, one game on the lore seems to set that perfect alternate ending for Darth Vader.
The Star Wars Universe.
This game is none other than the Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith video game, which quite literally has an alternate point of view to Anakin’s fate at the end of this story. As opposed to the one seen in the movies, this one sees Vader go full-blown evil and kill Obi-Wan Kenobi instead of letting him leave him on the lava shore, and fans just seem to love it.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace returned to theaters this weekend to celebrate both May The Fourth and the 1999 movie's 25th anniversary.
Despite receiving largely negative reviews from longtime Star Wars fans when it originally hit the big screen, the movie has already made upwards of $1 billion worldwide.
Despite often being dubbed the "worst" Star Wars movie - Attack of the Clones and The Rise of Skywalker would like a word - The Phantom Menace opened at #2 this weekend with an impressive $8.1 million at the North American box office.
Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt's The Fall Guy topped it, but George Lucas' Episode I beat the likes of Challengers, Civil War, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Tarot to earn that second place.
While this is a relatively quiet weekend at the box office, numbers like these put The Phantom Menace among the biggest re-releases ever. For context, while...

What makes a great lightsaber fight? The three-way rumpus between the young Obi-Wan Kenobi, his mentor Qui Gon-Jinn, and their horned -- not horny, important difference that -- opponent Darth Maul in "The Phantom Menace" is unrivaled for sheer athletic grace. Yet, for emotional stakes, it's got nothing on Obi-Wan clashing with his Padawan, Anakin Skywalker, in "Revenge of the Sith" and especially Anakin/Darth Vader's bouts with his son Luke from the original trilogy.
If we're talking about scuffles that merge fluid choreography with emotion-driven storytelling, though, it's hard to top "Star Wars Rebels." Being animated not only makes it easier for the series to construct visually dynamic lightsaber duels but also to do so in a way that serves a myriad of purposes. Those can be as simple as establishing that a mysterious villain like the Grand Inquisitor is not to be trifled with, or exploring the...

"Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" is back in theaters for its 25th anniversary this week. Some "Star Wars" fans will doubtlessly be celebrating (and turning out to make "The Phantom Menace" a box office smash once more) and I won't begrudge them that. But sorry, I'm still not on board with prequel trilogy revisionism.
I was born the same year as "The Phantom Menace" premiered — it's the movie that introduced me to "Star Wars." I know my generation has largely accepted the prequels, but while I can appreciate their ideas, they're still too hindered by shoddy storytelling and flat acting for me to sign off on the execution. "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is good (see our choices for best episodes here), but a cartoon spin-off set between the cracks of the "Star Wars" saga can...

In honor of Star Wars Day, we looked at all of the actors that Hayden Christensen competed with join the Star Wars family.
The actor made his debut in the popular franchise when he was cast as Anakin Skywalker in 2002′s Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. In the process, he landed what was one of the hottest gigs in Hollywood at the time!
If you were unaware, the trilogy of movies that he starred in tracked Anakin’s evolution from a talented young child through his descent into the Dark Side of the Force. It ended with him ultimately becoming Darth Vader, the villainous character fans of the franchise were already familiar with from creator George Lucas‘ first trio of movies.

George Lucas’ “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” has a clear set-up/pay-off as the reason for its existence: young, innocent child Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) will grow up to become Darth Vader, a manifestation of evil. The movie’s entire reason for existence is ultimately to introduce us to this child and make us think about how far we are from the fall of the Republic, and how the Empire will arise in only a generation. These were major stakes and not a bad place to get fans excited for the first new “Star Wars” movie in 16 years. And yet when “The Phantom Menace” arrived in theaters in 1999 it was met with either a mix of fans trying to convince themselves it was good (“‘Star Wars’ has always been corny!”) or outright disappointment.

Charlie Hunnam partially owes his prominence to some big sci-fi projects like Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim or Netflix’s recent hit Rebel Moon directed by Zack Snyder, but it turns out that years ago he could’ve landed another iconic sci-fi role — and missed it out in the nick of time.
In his recent interview with Variety the actor revealed that back in the 2000s he was one of the finalists for the role of Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas’s epic space opera franchise Star Wars.
Hunnam had quite strong competitors as Lucas was aware of the significance of Anakin’s role in the movies and thus wanted to give it to someone who already proved himself in Hollywood.

“Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” This quote from “Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace” not only fits in the context of Anakin Skywalker’s doomed journey to the dark side, but also reactions from super fans of the space opera franchise when this prequel released in 1999. ‘The Phantom Menace’ introduced a whole new cast of characters and was set 32 years before ‘A New Hope,’ during an era of turmoil in the Galactic Republic. George Lucas took a massive risk by pursuing Anakin Skywalker’s story after the success of the original trilogy. Would ‘Star Wars’ survive without Harrison Ford’s devilish charm, Carrie Fisher’s spunk and Mark Hamill’s pure goodness? The short answer is yes, but the road to get there was not easy. On its face, ‘The Phantom Menace’ was a commercial triumph — it saw intensive coverage from...

Star Wars is still a cherished part of many people’s childhoods. Beyond the nostalgia, its sheer coolness and grandeur make it perfect for the theaters. "Fear is the path to the dark side..." Time to return to that galaxy far, far away. 20th Century has revealed a brand new trailer for the 25th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in theaters this May. This highly anticipated prequel in the Star Wars series opened in the summer of 1999, some 25 years ago, and the hype was through the roof. I remember waiting in line just to get tickets, and all the mania waiting for it to open. Then everyone went to see it and did not like it. Now all these years later, is it time for a re-appraisal? In The Phantom Menace, two Jedi escape a hostile blockade and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their original glory. Samuel L. Jackson is an acting legend who has starred in numerous movies of all genres. Among his major movies are School Daze (1988), Do the Right Thing (1989), Mo’ Better Blues (1990), Jungle Fever (1991), Oldboy (2013), and Chi-Raq (2015), Tarantino’s films Jackie Brown (1997), Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), Django Unchained (2012), and The Hateful Eight (2015), but he also has two extremely popular roles in his filmography – that of Nick Fury in the MCU, as well as that of Mace Windu in the Star Wars franchise.
We know that Mace Windu died in The Revenge of the Sith, but the character had already been a fan favorite by that moment and since then, there have been numerous calls for Windu to return to the series, implying that the character did not die during the fated battle against Palpatine. Samuel L. Jackson was recently asked about it and he made his opinion on the matter quite clear.

Out of the many "Star Wars" shows that have come out of the Disney era, "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is arguably the weirdest. Like "The Book of Boba Fett," it is a show about one of the most beloved characters in the entire franchise, which brings back beloved actors, and promises to answer some questions fans had wondered about for years in regards to Kenobi's actions and whereabouts before meeting Luke Skywalker. Our own Ethan Anderton called this an unnecessary prequel in his review, but acknowledged that it's also "a thrilling new adventure that adds enticing emotional layers to the Jedi Master's story."
The show depicts Obi-Wan Kenobi hiding from his guilt over what happened to Anakin, from the ghosts of all his dead friends, and from the dangers of the Empire. Before Kenobi reclaimed his connection to the Force, he was just a sad hermit living in the desert. But we...
