Hi, my name is – or rather *was* – Slim Shady. Eminem has killed off his Slim Shady persona, penning an obituary that mourns the loss of his tortured alter ego.
In an obituary published in the Detroit Free Press, Eminem wrote of the late Slim Shady, “A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single ‘My Name Is,’ which — along with its uniquely eye catching video — exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience. That audience was soon exposed to the extreme darkness of the muse/rapper as he led millions of music fans down a road that glorified a demonstrably nihilistic worldview.” It’s worth noting that this is part of the promotional strategy for his upcoming album,...

Eminem will release his 12th full-length album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), this summer. The rapper announced the LP in a short trailer on social media, which he dropped after appearing at the first round of the NFL Draft in Detroit last night.
The clip shows a crime reporter discussing the death of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, which he debuted on 1997’s Slim Shady EP and resurfaced on 1999’s The Slim Shady LP. “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim...

Eminem has announced that his 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), will be out this summer.
Appearing tonight at the first round of the NFL Draft in Detroit, Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers) also released a trailer on social media. The clip shows a crime reporter discussing the death of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady.
Slim Shady is an alter ego for Eminem, bowing in 1997’s Slim Shady EP and The Slim Shady LP, which arrived two years later.
“Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” he says.
50 Cent then makes a cameo. “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath,” he says.
The reporter continues, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.

Eminem’s next album might already exist, but it definitely didn’t arrive today. Monday morning, the rapper surprised everyone by announcing a record titled Infinite 2 with an elaborate teaser trailer. Fans sprinted to streaming services after he posted the 40-second video — which could benefit from having a warning for those with photosensitive epilepsy — only to be disappointed when nothing was actually there. They should’ve rushed to their calendar first.

Eminem, taking a page from Trent Reznor, trolled fans yearning for a new album by releasing a faux trailer for Infinite 2 on April Fools’ Day.
The video opens with screenshots of social media pleas from fans asking for a new Eminem album. Cue some 1996-era graphics and a movie narrator, who announces: “The highly-anticipated next studio album goes back to where it all started. Infinite but now it’s even more infinite. Out today!” The trailer is soundtracked by Eminem’s “Crack a Bottle.”
Though an obvious April Fools’ Joke, several Eminem admitted to being duped at first. “my dumbass still believed it despite being April 1st,” wrote one fan on reddit. Another added, “Mf Made Me Check Spotify With A Heart Attack.”
Fortunately for Eminem fans, a new and very real album is on the horizon, as Dr. Dre recently revealed. “Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year,...
