Universal’s Dracula comedy Renfield (read our review Here), starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his titular lackey, was a box office disaster, pulling in just $25 million worldwide… which is a shame, because the movie is a lot of fun. Maybe it will reach more of an audience when it receives a digital, Blu-ray, and DVD release on June 6th – and Universal is doing their best to make sure viewers will check it out, giving it a “Dracula Sucks Edition” release that will be packed with extras!
Based on a treatment written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Renfield was directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Rick and Morty). In Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, R.M. Renfield was an inmate at a lunatic asylum who was thought to be suffering from delusions but actually is a servant of Dracula.

I may be ready to give up on Nic Cage after this movie if I’m honest. Actually, that may be a tad harsh because I do feel like he is doing his best with the half-baked mindless script he was given. Cage as Dracula alone was the selling point of Renfield and as I would come to find out, Cage is not even in the damn film all that much!
I realise that I’m not exactly burying the lead here in terms of how I felt about Renfield but don’t worry because it’s not all bad. Let’s jump into it….
Renfield is not exactly reinventing the wheel here in as much as the story revolves around...

Universal’s Dracula comedy Renfield (read our review Here), starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his titular lackey, didn’t light up the box office when it reached theatres last weekend. So far it has only pulled in just over $12 million… and those are the worldwide numbers. So there probably aren’t a whole lot of you who have seen the movie to know that the dance sequence Hoult shared on social media last Friday is a deleted scene… but trust us, the dance sequence isn’t in the movie. Here it is online:

Nicolas Cage has been in just about every kind of film you can think of, and he’s played just about every kind of character you can think of. One of his best, most famous, and over-the-top parts is in 1988s Vampire’s Kiss, where Nic Cage plays a publishing executive convinced he’s turning into a bloodsucking vampire. Now, more than 30 years later, not only is Nic Cage playing a vampire, he’s playing the lord of vampires, the prince of darkness, Count Dracula. It’s a role Cage seemed destined to play, after all, his uncle Francis Ford Coppola directed the 1992 film Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Now Nic Cage gets to shine as that title character, and it’s a performance worthy of a better film.

Universal’s Dracula comedy Renfield, starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as his titular lackey, is set to reach theatres next week, on April 14th, and while the primary draw is the chance to see Cage play Dracula, the movie also includes a couple special treats for fans of the horror genre. Among the cast members are Caroline Williams, best known for playing the heroine Stretch in 1986’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and William Ragsdale, who previously crossed paths with vampires in 1985’s Fright Night and the 1988 sequel Fright Night Part 2. Williams is playing a character named Vanessa, while Ragsdale takes on the role of Older Priest. Universal has released the first trailer for “Renfield,” a Dracula movie starring Nicolas Cage.
Despite movie (and vampire) fans’ curiosity about Cage’s distinctive spin on the voice and aesthetic of Count Dracula in the upcoming film, the Academy Award-winning actor is not the main character. Instead, the film’s protagonist and namesake is Nicholas Hoult, who plays the Transylvanian count’s right-hand man, Renfield.
Renfield begins as a devoted servant who gradually becomes disillusioned with carrying out Dracula’s malevolent deeds. When a traffic cop played by Awkwafina catches his eye, love fuels Renfield to reevaluate his outlook on life and his willingness to continue helping Dracula.
The cast includes Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous and more.
In Stoker’s writings, Renfield was portrayed as a delusional inmate at an insane asylum who eats living creatures because he believes their blood will make him immortal. Stoker ultimately reveals,...

We’re just three months away from the April 14th theatrical release of Universal’s horror comedy Dracula movie Renfield, which stars Nicholas Hoult as the title character and Nicolas Cage as his bloodsucking boss. The studio hasn’t released a trailer for the film yet, but they just took what would appear to be a positive step toward sending the trailer out into the world: they have unveiled the official logo for Renfield. It’s about time for Universal to start up the marketing machine for their horror comedy Dracula movie Renfield, which stars Nicholas Hoult as the title character and Nicolas Cage as his bloodsucking boss. The movie’s April 14, 2023 theatrical release date is not far away. But while we wait to see a trailer for this movie, there have been some interesting things said about it in interviews… like Cage’s list of things that have inspired his performance. He has said that his Dracula voice is meant to sound like a mixture of a Mid-Atlantic accent with some Sir Christopher Lee and a bit of Anne Bancroft. He has also said that some of his movements as the character were inspired by Sadako from Ringu. And now he has said that he was going for a sort of Andy Warhol pop art Dracula performance.

A few weeks ago, director Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) let the world know that his upcoming Universal Monsters movie Renfield, which stars the legendary Nicolas Cage as horror icon Dracula and is set to reach theatres on April 14, 2023, has “got action, it’s got a lot of heart, it’s not without menace…” And now the ratings board at the Motion Picture Association has added that the film has “bloody violence, some gore, language throughout, and some drug use.” That is why they have given it an R rating.

Nicolas Cage plays Dracula in the upcoming Universal Monsters movie Renfield, which is set to reach theatres on April 14, 2023, and he has said that the voice he used for the character is a mixture of a Mid-Atlantic accent with some Sir Christopher Lee and a bit of Anne Bancroft. The film’s director Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) has reiterated that Anne Bancroft was a source of inspiration in a new interview with Empire magazine (with thanks to Syfy Wire for the transcription). McKay told Empire that he and Cage “talked a lot about silent acting. Things like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, making shapes with his body. You’re gonna see allusions to Nosferatu, all the way to Anne Bancroft in The Graduate.” McKay said that this modern story, which presents Dracula as a “shitty boss” to the titular character, is “far away from what you would typically think...

Deadline reports that Rous has joined the cast as "a member of a support group for people in toxic relationships." Exclusive: Bess Rous will round out the cast of Chris McKay’s Universal monster movie, Renfield.
She joins an ensemble that includes Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez and Shohreh Aghdashloo, as previously announced.
The film based on an original story outline by Robert Kirkman centers on Renfield (Hoult), who has grown sick and tired of his centuries as Dracula’s (Cage) lackey. The henchman finds a new lease on life and maybe even redemption when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina).
Bess will play Caitlyn, a member of a support group for people in toxic relationships.
Ryan Ridley penned the script. McKay is producing the film shooting in New Orleans with Skybound Entertainment’s film team, including Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst, with his producing partner Samantha Nisenboim exec producing.

Paul Feig is back with his sci-fi comedy series Other Space. It was originally aired on Yahoo! Screen back in 2015, but was cancelled shortly after, due to the platform being no longer viable. The digital platform Dust has now picked it up and is scheduled to host the series in August.
Other Space takes place in the distant future, the year 2105, where the Universal Mapping Projects (Ump) has been created by a multi-national corporate coalition. Their intention is – “to explore the universe for the purpose of scientific inquiry”. The main vessel that we see during the show is the Ump Cruiser, which apparently was once used as the setting for a reality show.

Five years ago, one year before Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters hit theaters, the Bridesmaids comedy mastermind debuted a quirky, heartwarming science fiction series called Other Space. If you missed the streaming-only show back in 2015, the easiest way to describe the series would be Community meets The Orville, but better and more charming than both.
Other Space is like HBO’s Avenue 5 or Netflix’s Space Force, but funnier and far less cynical. And now, after a long absence, you can finally catch one of the best sci-fi shows you may have missed the first time around.

Fans of Paul Feig have a new group of geeks to fall in love with, and the crew of the spaceship that makes up the set of Yahoo Screen’s Other Space are as odd and “freaky” as anything he’s come up with before.
Stewart Lipinski (Karan Soni) is mildly interested in pursuing a career in galaxy mapping, or whatever, and as we enter the show, he is taking his final test to become Captain of his own spaceship. He wins out over his sister, Karen (Bess Rous), largely because she is so… intense, that even the higher-ups of the space program are scared of her.
This is not exciting news for Stewart, who doesn’t want to spend a long space voyage dealing with her, especially when he has to convince her that he’s in charge.
The crew is basically a semi-typical gaggle of misfits, and Stewart...

Yahoo has released the first new trailer for Other Space, which is Bridesmaids director Paul Feig’s first television series since the late, lamented Freaks and Geeks left the air 15 years ago.

Yahoo’s slate of original series (including the sixth season of Community and the upcoming Sin City Saints) will soon be joined by a third title. The online media giant has released the official trailer for its newest original series Other Space, a sci-fi comedy harking from Paul Feig and premiering on Yahoo Screen on April 14, 2015.
Created by Feig (Bridesmaids, Freaks and Geeks), Other Space centers around the inexperienced and wholly unprepared crew of the Ump Cruiser. During a mission to explore space, the ship gets sucked through a portal into another universe. The Cruiser’s crew must work together to survive food shortages, alien attacks, robot rebellions and more, all while dealing with the reality they may never see home again.

Paul Feig’s slate has never been so packed. Or so popular. His upcoming espionage chucklefest Spy is gathering positive reviews, he’s deep in development on the all-female led Ghostbusters reboot and if a recent report is correct, he’ll be shaping a Play-Doh movie for Fox. Before any of those come to fruition, however, the director’s penchant for the funny is being catapulted to the far regions of the galaxy in his forthcoming Yahoo! comedy series, Other Space.
Like the recently-revived Community, the show will debut exclusively on the online giant’s network, and orbit around a spaceship crew out and about on a ‘routine collection mission’ that leads them to uncover one of mankind’s greatest discoveries. To whet those appetites ahead of the series’ debut, the first trailer does a sterling job of clueing us in to the haphazard batch of space explorers as they embark on their mission.

With "Ghostbusters" on the horizon, and his hands in "Play-Doh," Paul Feig has graduated to the level of tentpole director. So, you might have forgotten that his early career found him the master of creating funny, flawed characters like those in the beloved "Freaks & Geeks." Even "Bridesmaids" benefitted from having three dimensional people at the core of the outrageous comedy. Can he work that touch again with "Other Space"? Well, see for yourself in the first trailer. Dangerous byproducts of car-accident deaths, plus the police commissioner's visit to a museum, meant another active day for the Reagans.
"Insult to Injury," Friday's (March 7) episode of CBS' "Blue Bloods" -- written by co-executive producer Daniel Truly, from a story by him and series script coordinator Andrew Raab -- made Frank (Tom Selleck) a chaperone for grandson Sean's (Andrew Terraciano) school field trip. The trek's main guide, Joyce Carpenter (guest star Annie Wersching), quickly proved herself something of a control freak.
"This isn't my first rodeo," she briskly informed Frank. "You're just to follow my lead." Clearly, she did not know Frank Reagan.
What looked to be a day of paperwork for Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) became something else when he took a call meant for a detective who had passed away. The distressed caller, named Jill (guest star Bess Rous), angrily told Danny that the NYPD and the justice system had failed her.

TNT has greenlit "Murder in the First," a drama from Steven Bochco ("NYPD Blue") that will follow a single case over the course of a season.
The show, which stars Taye Diggs, Kathleen Robertson and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" movies), is scheduled to premiere in 2014. The season will run for 10 episodes.
Season-long mysteries have become something of a trend on cable in the past few years, but they're old territory for Bochco. He co-created "Murder One," which followed a high-profile murder trial for a full season, for ABC in 1995. (It did well enough to earn a second season, but audiences didn't pick up the next case and it was canceled.)
