For Kevin Kane, the endgame never wavered once he set a goal to move to New York in the early aughts to pursue a career in acting. He’ll tell you that luck seemed to always be on his side, as the actor from Philadelphia found work soon after his arrival to the Big Apple.
Kane was soon thrusted into the world of Dick Wolf Entertainment with small roles on Law & Order and Chicago P.D. This would eventually lead to his current recurring role as Detective Terry Bruno on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which aired its season 25 finale on May 16.

Midway through the new season of Netflix’s animated comedy Big Mouth, middle schooler Matthew (Andrew Rannells) frets, “I don’t want to overstay my welcome like The Office after Steve Carell left.”

Showtime has made a decision on its last remaining current scripted series whose fate had been up in the air, opting not to pick up a second season of comedy I Love That for You. The news comes a year after the Season 1 run of the show starring Vanessa Bayer, who co-created it with Jeremy Beiler. The two serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Jessi Klein and Michael Showalter.

The show’s end isn’t exactly imminent, with Season Seven set to air this year, and Season Eight premiering in 2024. The stories in the final seasons will dovetail a bit with Big Mouth spin-off, Human Resources, which will end after its upcoming second season.

"Big Mouth," Netflix's animated sitcom about puberty and all the gross, awkward experiences that it brings, is finally coming to end with its eighth and final season. Netflix revealed the news before the premiere of season 7, which has not yet been released. That means we have two seasons left of the show, most likely due in thanks to its previous success, and fans can look forward to many more episodes before "Big Mouth" ends.
"Big Mouth" was created by longtime friends Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, as well as Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett, and is based on the former pair's suburban childhoods growing up in Westchester County outside of New York City. The series is known for its frank and open portrayal of taboo topics related to sex and sexuality, all told through the main characters' interactions with the wildly horny psychological manifestations of their puberty known as the Hormone Monsters.

Puberty can only last so long.
“Big Mouth” has been renewed for Season 8 at Netflix, which will be the animated comedy’s final installation. Additionally, “Big Mouth” spinoff “Human Resources” will end with its previously greenlit second season.
This makes “Big Mouth” Netflix’s longest running original series, excluding kids and family programming. Previously, “Grace and Frankie” and “Orange Is the New Black” shared that title with seven seasons each.
Inspired by the childhoods of co-creators Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, “Big Mouth” follows a group of friends and their hormone monsters as they navigate adolescence, human sexuality and coming of age. Kroll starred alongside John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas and Ayo Edebiri (whose role was originally played by Jenny Slate). Season 6 debuted in 2022, while Season 7 will come in 2023 and 2024.
“Human Resources” is set in the world of the hormone monsters from “Big Mouth,” where different monsters are assigned to govern human emotions.

"Big Mouth" is one of the only shows on TV that understands how truly weird it is to come of age. Over the past five seasons, the series has seen the teens of Bridgeton Middle School grow from shame-faced seventh graders to slightly more confident — if just as cringe-inducing — eighth graders. It's hard to believe these horny, awkward, hilarious kids still have so much more growing up to do, but then again, the well of offbeat and frank humor for this animated comedy never really runs dry.
Check out the trailer for the new season, which looks like it'll include some plot crossover from the spin-off "Human Resources," below.

Maya Rudolph is on quite a roll. The SNL alum, who received nominations for best guest actress in a comedy series six years in a row — winning in 2020 and 2021 for returning to the NBC sketch series, first for a special appearance as Vice President Kamala Harris and then as the show’s host — also picked up two noms and wins in the past two years for outstanding character voiceover performance in Netflix’s Big Mouth. Playing Connie, the voluptuous, sensual and bubble bath-loving hormone monstress who guides the pubescent characters through their awkward transitions into young adulthood, has earned Rudolph her third nomination in the category this year — and a win would see her achieve a three-peat and her fifth Emmy in three years. Here, she tells THR about her excitement over her latest nod and who her animated alter ego would party with post-Emmys.

Netflix has sealed a new three-year deal with Brutus Pink, which extends their relationship with the animation production company behind “Big Mouth” and its new companion series “Human Resources.” The extension will keep Brutus Pink, which is run by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett, developing and producing new animated projects for Netflix through 2026.
“Brutus Pink is thrilled to be continuing at Netflix, which has been our creative home for seven years,” Levin said in a statement. “We’re hopeful this means we get to keep the ‘Con Air’ DVD that’s been sitting on Nick’s coffee table in a red envelope since 2006.”
The Emmy-winning “Big Mouth” is an adult animated comedy exploring puberty (and hormone monsters) and was inspired by Kroll and Goldberg’s childhood. Launched in 2017, “Big Mouth” returns for Season 6 this fall, while Season 2 of “Human Resources” will be back next year.

Showtime comedy “I Love That for You” traces a straight line back to “Saturday Night Live.” Not only did former “SNL” star Vanessa Bayer create the show with former “SNL” writer Jeremy Beiler, and Bayer’s co-star is “SNL” veteran Molly Shannon, but the relationship between the actresses’ characters also looks a lot like… Shannon and Bayer’s, back when they were on “SNL.”
They didn’t overlap on the show, but it remained a shared experience. The actresses grew up 10 minutes away from each other in Cleveland suburbs and brought their Midwestern sensibilities to the venerable comedy show.
“Like when Vanessa’s character is getting a makeover, I relate to her character because that’s how I felt when I started on ‘Saturday Night Live,” Shannon said at the show’s premiere and FYC event at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles Wednesday night. “You’re kind of green,...

The world of home-shopping networks is one that seems ripe for comedy; the scenes in “Hacks,” for instance, in which Deborah Vance goes on television to hawk garments and jewelry are some of that show’s most cleverly observed. The challenge, as with all things in fiction, is getting the details right.
That’s the first place that “I Love That for You,” Showtime’s new comedy set at a fictional TV channel, falls short. Starring and co-created by “Saturday Night Live” standout Vanessa Bayer, “I Love That for You” weaponizes its central presence’s askew vision of life as a series of petty humiliations, most easily borne by making oneself the butt of the joke. But everything Bayer’s character faces at work seems less surreal than unreal; the show lacks the grain and texture of actual office life or a recognizable media environment.

“Big Mouth” and “Human Resources” still have some growing up to do. The Netflix animated comedies have been renewed for additional seasons, the streamer announced Monday.
“Big Mouth” has been renewed through Season 7, with Season 6 premiering later this year. Freshman show “Human Resources” has also been renewed for a second season. The news of the renewals came during the shows’ FYC Emmy panel at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles. In attendance were the shows’ executive producers Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett and Kelly Galuska, along with Randall Park, who stars in “Human Resources.”
Created by Kroll, Goldberg, Levin and Flackett in 2017, “Big Mouth” focuses on a group of friends in middle school struggling with the changes puberty has brought to their lives. One of the show’s central conceits is the existence of “hormone monsters,” which act as representations for the various emotions the preteens experience during puberty.

Its series regulars are Kroll, John Mulaney, Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Ayo Edebiri and Jessi Klein.
Human Resources pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures—Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards and many more—that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to parenthood to the twilight years. Joanna Gold (Vanessa Bayer) lands her dream job of being a shopping channel host like her idol Jackie (Molly Shannon), but has to resort to a big lie — she has cancer! — to avoid being fired in the official trailer for “I Love That For You,” which Showtime released on Wednesday.

Vanessa Bayer says being on “SNL” is not wholly unlike doing QVC, where her “I Love That for You” character works. Well, that Showtime character technically works at the ficticious Svn — which is basically QVC without Showtime getting sued by QVC.
Bayer said that “a lot of the live-tv elements from ‘SNL’ do cross over” into her new gig.
“With ‘SNL,’ you always want your sketches to make it into the live show. You never really know if they’re going to make it in. You always want your sketches to be earlier in the show because they’re safer there and less likely to get cut,” the show’s co-creator, executive producer and star said Tuesday at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour. “With home shopping, it’s a similar thing… you want to have better time slots.”

Before premiering in 2017, “Big Mouth” may have looked like one more coming-of-age teen show built around its off-color humor, where kids crack jokes and embarrass themselves amid the wild waters of puberty. But five seasons in, it’s clear series co-creator/star Nick Kroll and his writing team have larger designs at work.
The theme of the recently launched Season 5 is “Love/Hate,” as seventh graders Nick (Kroll), Andrew (John Mulaney), Jessi (Jessi Klein) and Missy (Ayo Edebiri) experience their first brushes with the powerful forces of both falling in love and having those feelings rejected. For Kroll, this season is a natural evolution for the characters and the show.
“It’s a combination of letting our characters dictate the stories we tell, but we also go in season to season with larger themes in mind,” Kroll said. “We started in Season 2 with shame and felt how successful that was for generating stories.
