Lights. Camera. Action. HBO has given the green light to the Deadwood TV show revival movie. Today, during the TCA Summer Press Tour, Programming President Casey Bloys confirmed production would begin in October, possibly with an eye toward a spring 2019 premiere. The Deadwood movie had been expected since the project received a California tax credit in April, and creator David Milch has had a script ready since 2017.
An HBO Western, Deadwood premiered on March 21, 2004 and ran for three seasons, before being cancelled. The Deadwood TV series finale, episode 3.12, "Tell Him Something Pretty," first aired on August 27, 2006. The series cast included: Molly Parker, Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Brad Dourif, W. Earl Brown, John Hawkes, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie, Leon Rippy, William Sanderson, Robin Weigert, Sean Bridgers, Bree Seanna Wall, Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Jones,...

Chicago – Just in time for the holidays, HBO’s brilliant “Deadwood” has been chosen for induction into the complete series Blu-ray catalog of the most important TV network in the last twenty years. Very few HBO series are available in complete series HD sets from HBO (“Band of Brothers,” “Rome,” “The Pacific”) and while fans of “The Sopranos,” “The Wire,” and “Six Feet Under” may finally have their day next holiday season, this one belongs to David Milch’s masterpiece.
Blu-Ray Rating: 5.0/5.0
The 36 episodes of Milch’s brilliant deconstruction of the TV Western have been segmented on 13 discs — four per season and a disc of bonus material. Essentially, this is nothing more than an HD translation of what was released two years ago on standard disc. If you’re still dreaming of that oft-rumored movie that would tie up all the loose ends of this canceled-too-soon program than you’ll have to keep dreaming.

Cementing their reputation for scooping up beloved cancelled series, DirecTV has announced that they're going to be airing two more; Deadwood and Oz.
Deadwood is centered around an outlaw camp in the Old West. The HBO series was nominated for 22 Emmy Awards and won seven in its all too-brief 36 episode, three season run. The drama showcases the talents of thespians like Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Brad Dourif, W. Earl Brown, John Hawkes, Paula Malcomson, Dayton Callie, Leon Rippy, William Sanderson, Robin Weigert, Sean Bridgers, and Bree Seanna Wall. HBO committed to produce a pair of movies to wrap up the series but they never materialized.
Oz gives viewers a look into the harsh and often horrific world of the Oswald State Correctional Facility. The series ran for six seasons and 56 episodes on HBO. The large cast includes Kirk Acevedo, Ernie Hudson, Terry Kinney, Rita Moreno, Harold Perrineau, J.K. Simmons,...

Chicago – “Deadwood” and “The Wire”, two of the best television programs of the last decade, have been given lavish, must-own treatment by HBO with spectacular season sets available just in time for the holidays.
HBO has been criticized for stretching their shows out over too many discs with bloated season sets that take up twice the actual shelf space as most shows with double the actual episodes. The three seasons of Deadwood take up more than a foot of shelf space for only 36 episodes. But when shows have run their course, HBO Home Video does a spectacular job of compressing everything previously available into a well-packaged and space-saving complete series set.
Whether or not simply saving space and providing only a few new special features is worth the upgrade depends on how rabid a fan of “Deadwood” and “The Wire” you are, but if there’s anyone in your circle...
