Out of Fallout’s four main characters, Cooper Howard aka the Ghoul wins all the charisma and first impression prizes possible, without a doubt. This Deadpool of the Wasteland is tough as nails, virtually unkillable, and cynical beyond any belief son of a gun, and that’s why we love him so much — but at the same time, he’s sadistic and messed up in more ways than we can be bothered to name.
But for lead star Walton Goggins, the Ghoul is his baby, so the actor will defend him despite his very obvious… Flaws, shall we call it.
The Ghoul Star Defends His Character
Recently, Walton Goggins took part in Amazon’s Anatomy of a Character where they took a deep dive into Cooper Howard’s past, present, and future. When the topic of his relationship with Lucy MacLean came up, Goggins disagreed with the common sentiment that...

Prime Video’s Fallout features four main characters, but apart from their distinct personalities, they represent something more. Each of them — Lucy, Cooper, Maximus, and Norman — corresponds to one of the most common playstyles.
Realistically, you can “find out which Fallout character you are” just by recalling how you play video games… Or, if you’re strictly a show fan, how you think you’d play.
Lucy MacLean: the Newbie
Lucy has a typical video game Fallout start in the show: she’s a Vault Dweller who has to venture into the scary Wasteland to find her family member. She’s effectively a new player and behaves appropriately — she doesn’t understand the rules of the brutal world outside, always picks “nice” dialogue options, and tries to do the morally correct thing… But we already see her get rougher as she gains experience.
Norman MacLean: the Lore Master...

Both House of the Dragon and Fallout immediately became international hits, and they share quite a few similarities between them — they both throw immensely talented but ultimately underrated actors into increasingly dangerous situations in beloved fictional worlds that were once very niche. Speaking of HotD and Fallout’s stars, though, these series brought many of them the recognition they deserved.
And now, they’re ready to tackle their next big challenge: killer squirrels. What?
New Horror Comedy Stars Talents from Iconic Shows
As recently reported by Screen Daily, director Craig Roberts is currently working on a new project: a horror comedy movie with an utterly bizarre premise. In The Scurry, a band of deranged killer squirrels decides to seek revenge on the visitors and staff of a nearby eco-café, leading the mortified and terrified humans to defend themselves.
For his upcoming flick, Roberts booked two stars from the biggest sensations of the past two years.

Prime Video’s latest sensation, the Fallout TV show sparked a new interest to the iconic video game franchise in millions of people who haven’t even heard about it previously — and launched quite a few careers sky-high. One of the show’s lead stars, Ella Purnell (Lucy MacLean) found herself under the spotlight thanks to it…
Except that in 2014, the young actress was already working with Angelina Jolie.
Ella Purnell Starred in Maleficent
You read it right: the Fallout lead star did a movie with Angelina Jolie back in the day, and not just any movie. 2014’s Maleficent, one of Jolie’s last movies before she effectively quit acting, saw Ella Purnell play the same character as the former queen of Hollywood — Purnell starred in it as the younger version of Maleficent herself.

Since her professional acting career began in the late 2000s, Ella Purnell has starred in several successful TV shows and movies. For Purnell, acting has always been a lifelong obsession. While she was understandably launched into stardom by her most recent lead performance in Fallout, Prime Video’s new TV show wasn’t Ella Purnell’s first rodeo — far from that. The Lucy MacLean star has had several prominent roles over the past few years which you might have missed, including a lead performance in one of the biggest sci-fi franchises ever. No, not that one.

Star Wars’ biggest competitor, Star Trek has always had a large and devoted fan base that, while not getting as much content as their Sw counterparts, tend to get it better. Star Trek: Prodigy, Paramount Plus’ reasonably fresh animated TV show, featured Ella Purnell as Gwyndala aka Gwyn, one of the series’ lead characters.
Despite it being a voice acting gig by Purnell, Gwyn shares the actress’ facial features, so you’ll definitely recognize her on the screen.

Despite Fallout taking place in the aftermath of a nuclear war, it’s truly not the end of the world for the Prime Video series, which has many miles to go.
Fans of video games are fanatics about how faithfully adapted into movies and series, and according to Fallout executive producer Geneva Robertson-Dworet, speaking recently during an interview with cast and creatives at Deadline Studio at Prime Experience, “there is so much we had to leave behind” in Season 1. “[There’s] potentially thousands of hours of gameplay; we have eight hours to tell our story.”
Watch the interview here and see photos from the event below.
With a Season 2 order under its belt, as well as becoming the most watched Amazon Prime series launch ever per Nielsen with 2.9 billion minutes viewed, Robertson-Dworet says they’ll now “be able to get to so much more that we love about the Fallout world.”

Whether you’re a long-time fan of the Fallout franchise or a new viewer that joined the club after watching Prime Video’s TV show, you’re well-aware that Vault-Tec Vaults were much more than just a way to save human civilization in case of a global nuclear war — they were controlled grounds for experiments on humans.
But while some of those experiments were reasonably tame, others were downright monstrous… And one particular Vault can prove devastating in Fallout Season 2.
Lucy MacLean Loves Herself a Good Vault
One of Fallout’s main characters, Lucy MacLean has been a certified Vault Dweller for her entire life — until the moment she bravely ventured outside to find her father. Like most of her fellow Vault Dwellers, she had no idea about Vault-Tec’s experiments, and in her eyes, Vaults remained safe and picture-perfect places.
She did learn some portion of the truth in Vault 4, but largely,...

The Fallout game series was one of the pioneers of GenX and Millennial storytelling.
When creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky created a post-apocalyptic vision of human civilization gone awry (but never one to lose its sense of humor), the open world narrative eschewed labels of Good and Evil.
The Fallout universe was made of multiple factions, each one selfish, every character a survivalist in their own way.
These political and social plots explored the diversity of human thinking, teaching us concepts of anarchy that were foreign to even 1990s American cinema.
Now that the Fallout series on Prime based on the Bethesda game has debuted, it has the nearly impossible task of trying to humanize a game that was all but designed to escape humanity.
The show is a big hit and most likely the best video game to TV show adaptation we will ever see, thanks to the clever mind of Jonathan Nolan.

Now seems to be a perfect time to start pondering over what future will hold for Fallout’s second season. The show debuted on Amazon Prime earlier this month and was very quick to sweep everyone away leaving the creators no choice but to renew the hit series for another season.
While we’re still quite far away from Fallout’s season 2, the show’s cast has already made the first predictions for their characters’ fate — but one of the main actors’ wishes seem pretty much unfeasible.
While talking to GQ recently, Ella Purnell, who got to portray Lucy MacLean, reflected on her character’s possible future in Fallout’s season 2.
The actress revealed that what she wishes for Lucy mainly boils down to her still being funny because “that’s really fun to do” while also seeing the character as someone who “form some opinions that feel truly and wholly hers,...

Jonathan Nolan’s Fallout adaptation is a success for many reasons, the least of all being its unique sense of identity separate from the games despite being true to the source material in every respect. It is this individuality of the Amazon original series that allows some room for creative liberty while Nolan and his writers’ room build a megalomaniacal post-apocalyptic world spread over the vast wasteland of America.

Surviving the wastelands in Fallout games isn’t exactly a cakewalk, but Todd Howard, who directed several of the franchise’s games, had some tips that may help the players keep the body and soul together in the post-apocalyptic world. The ones who’ve watched it, know that the creators understood the assignment thoroughly and they are in for a visual treat.
The resemblance with the game is just unparalleled. However, not all are happy with Jonathan Nolan’s TV adaptation of the popular video game franchise. Despite the positive ratings, they believe it doesn’t live up to the mark. As they say, the world is an extremely unreliable critic. Currently, the show has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 on Google based on over 1600 ratings.

Walton Goggins, in a gruesome starring role in Prime Video’s apocalyptic sci-fi series Fallout, said he knew he knew he was in for “an intense experience” having to transform every day on set into The Ghoul, a post-human character with melting flesh, a cowboy persona and some semblance of his humanity still left.
But at Saturday’s Deadline Contenders Television panel, the perennial character actor — beaming in from overseas, where he is shooting The White Lotus — said the task of transformation proved to be “extremely anxiety provoking” at first. He had to figure out how to express himself under a thin layer of sweat-inducing facial prosthesis designed to make him look almost skeletal and how to be a walking, wisecracking horror show with a retainer in his mouth to simulate the absence of teeth.

This article contains spoilers for "Fallout."
Ever since the trailer for Prime Video's "Fallout" series debuted and promised a funny and weird take on the apocalypse, it was obvious that the trademark violence and grim comedy of the video games would be in evidence. Since its 1997 inception, the "Fallout" series has never shied away from depicting the harrowing reality of a post-apocalyptic future, contrasting that against the upbeat American boosterism that characterized the 1950s-era culture from which the series borrows. Now, with its TV debut, co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have done an excellent job of preserving that amusing yet unsettling tone.
The "Fallout" streaming series is in canon with the video games but tells a wholly original story. What makes the show a success is that it still feels like "Fallout," despite featuring a whole cast of new characters and an original narrative. In other words, the tone...

The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

It has been quite a while since video game franchises broke free of the curse of live-action adaptations, and Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout franchise is the latest one to find success in that regard. With the recently released TV series adaptation produced by Amazon Studios, Fallout has managed to create a separate narrative posited further into the lore’s future timeline, thereby expanding the established narrative.
The mastermind behind much-loved long-running game series like Fallout and Elder Scrolls of Bethesda, Todd Howard, had been involved in the creative brainstorming behind the live-action series. The decision to take a separate route from the original saga by creating a new storyline was his idea as well. The implementation of the idea was successful, as the core themes of Fallout are captured perfectly through a seamless tie-in of multiple subplots and a central plotline. Through the ages, men in power have found excuses to wage wars to serve their selfish motives, be it for religion, territorial gain, nationalism, or economic gain. While the objectives vary according to the geopolitical situation, the principles of war remain unchanged, as the underprivileged are always the sufferers while the dominant sect reaps the benefits—a basic, universal truth that makes up the core of Bethesda’s acclaimed game franchise Fallout. While the video game series isn’t the first to have attempted to showcase an alternate, dystopian post-nuclear holocaust reality, it certainly added a unique flair through a scathing satirical tone directed towards American consumerism, holding capitalism accountable for a doomed future in the most brutal, humorous fashion imaginable.

Plot: Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.
Review: Back in 1997, I was a high school kid playing video games on my Nintendo 64 and my PC. I loved games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, the original Diablo, and Fallout. The big and small screens are stuffed full of post-apocalyptic adventures, yet despite that cluttered landscape, few shows and films stick out to offer something unique for viewers. However, in “Fallout” for Prime Video, a thrilling adaptation of the beloved video game series, creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner present an off-kilter and fascinating look at humanity in the 23rd century.
“Fallout” begins at the end. The eight-episode series opens in picturesque America sometime in the future. It has reverted to the texture of a glossier post-racial 1955. A stark wooden cross stands in a moonlit cemetery in the opening episode of Fallout, Amazon’s eccentric and capacious adaptation of the video game series. From each arm hangs an IV bag that feeds a yellow liquid into a grave. There lies the body of Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), an erstwhile cowboy who struck gold as a western film star before being blacklisted for alleged communist affiliations. Cooper lived in a distinctively retro-futurist United States. In this alternate universe, the 2070s were marked by escalating war between America and China and seemingly stuck in the 1950s, with black-and-white TVs and classic cars—plus robots that helped apron-clad homemakers around the house. Then the bombs fell, in a bout of mutually assured destruction that eradicated almost all life on Earth.
More than 200 years after the nuclear calamity, a trio of wary mercenaries dig up Cooper’s tomb and find a coffin chained shut.
