The latest music video from Barenaked Ladies premiered on YouTube this week, but not where you might expect. In a unique collaboration between the Canadian band and Austin, Texas-based Rooster Teeth, the group's music video for their latest single Odds Are launched on Rooster Teeth’s main YouTube channel and features guest appearances by iJustine, FreddieW, Machinima’s Adam Kovic and many well known Rooster Teeth personalities. Check it out: The collaboration between the two is the latest in a relationship stretching back to 2004. “We've known Ed Robertson, the lead singer of Bnl, since 2004,” said Matt Hullum, Rooster Teeth CEO and director of Odds Are. “He reached out to say he was a fan of Red vs. Blue, which was just a totally surreal and awesome random email to get when we were just starting out.” The mutual admiration led to the two groups working together. They first collaborated in a few special Red vs.

After yesterday's news that Canadian pop group Barenaked Ladies will no longer be writing songs for the musical adaptation of Animal House, The Calgary Herald reports that the band's lead singer Ed Robertson said he and the group are 'disappointed that things didn't work out' with the show and that they 'ultimately couldn't give any more time to the project' due to a new record and tour.

It is hard to imagine a band better suited to a collaboration with an astronaut than the Barenaked Ladies.
Famously (and unabashedly) nerdy in their interests -- "I'm a space geek!" proclaims frontman Ed Robertson -- the Ladies' millions of fans often identify themselves that way, too. There's a reason, aside from the the Canadian band's knack for penning unforgettably catchy songs, that they were chosen to write and record the theme for that geekiest of TV shows, 'The Big Bang Theory.'
Perhaps that's why Cmdr. Chris Hadfield -- who recently announced his retirement from the Canadian Space Agency -- chose to get in touch with Robertson while he was floating around on the International Space Station earlier this year. He wanted to co-write and record a song, to create the first ever earth-space musical collaboration. Robertson loved the idea, but didn't quite realize how big a deal it would eventually become.

Barenaked Ladies are incredibly talented and kind of uncool. That's the basic view that's dogged this Canadian pop group throughout its 25 years in the business. A collection of jokers with a silly band name that few "serious music fans" pay much attention to. Bnl are good, goes this refrain, but I hope they don't come up on shuffle when my buddies are in the car.
As if they care. This is the real story of the Barenaked Ladies: a quarter-century on the charts, sold-out concerts around the world, a lengthy list of hits, a legion of devoted fans and an endorsement from Paul McCartney himself. Who's cool now?
When founding member and co-front man Steven Page quit the band four years ago, it had looked like curtains for the Toronto-based quintet. But they surprised many people by staying together, picking themselves back up, and recording 2010's "All In Good Time.

“Far Above The World…”
For the past five months social media users have been given a new look at life in space, and an unparalleled view of the Earth courtesy of Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, Commander onboard the International Space Station. He has granted followers of his Twitter, Youtube, Tumblr and the like – everything from daily life, to what happens when you cry in the zero gravity of space.
For many though it was his high quality photographs of our fragile planet, taken from orbit but in astonishing detail, that brought Hadfield to their attention, complete with his unwavering view that there are no borders in space. Regardless of their location his pictures were accompanied by a description of where each of “us” as human beings live, rather than individual nations. A perspective that perhaps only those who serve on an international project orbiting the earth every 93 minutes can truly appreciate.

When we heard that the Barenaked Ladies had signed on to develop a musical based on the film Animal House, we were equal parts confused and intrigued, but now we've got more details from the Ladies themselves. At the Broadway opening of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man last night, Ladies front man Ed Robertson confirmed that they’ve written about eleven tunes for the musical thus far, describing them as "really fun, stupid songs that I can’t sing to my children." But how well can four Canadian guys write songs for a musical about American frat culture? "We have frats in Canada at our universities, but it’s not the same," admitted Robertson. "It’s such a part of the culture here, and you’re right, it’s something that we’re not familiar with. But I don’t know if you know this, but I’m in a rock band,...

Denver — The rock super group Yukon Kornelius has rarely played a show since its busy members first performed in 2008 after appearing together in the Warren Miller ski flick "Children of Winter."
On Saturday, the band – made of Dave Matthews Band bassist Stefan Lessard, Barenaked Ladies lead Ed Robertson, Guster lead Adam Gardner and Spymob drummer Eric Fawcett – plays a free show in Vail as part of the annual Vail Snow Daze.
It will be their first show in almost two years and the first one outside.
"We feel fortunate to get together as often as we do. We all love it," Gardner said.
In the past, the band has had guests on stage that include actor Jason Biggs and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. In Vail, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and members of O.A.R. are scheduled to join Yukon Kornelius.
"Even we're surprised sometimes who gets involved,...

It was an extremely busy day in Comic-Con's Ballroom 20, with "True Blood" and Joss Whedon both filling the room to capacity, but for many fans, the high point came at midday with a surprise performance by Canada's The Barenaked Ladies. After lyrics to the "Big Bang Theory" theme song were passed around between panels, many in attendance suspected some sort of sing-along was afoot, but there was still great excitement when moderator Wil Wheaton introduced The Barenaked Ladies including lead singer Ed Robertson, a self-confessed geek himself. To be fair, the lyrics were wasted on the audience, since...

All In Good Time Barenaked LadiesRaisin’ Records*** The first album, post the departure of founder Steve Page, has received a mixed response. But for me, the Barenaked Ladies have always been a fun band with some easygoing songwriting and an uplifting sound. Vocal duties here are led mostly by guitarist, Ed Robertson. And the song writing is still thankfully intact. Yet one still can’t help thinking that the band is from a different time and are now just one of the many that keep getting lost in the mix and the multitude of bands that keep surfacing on an almost daily basis. ...
