Eve and Villanelle’s cat-and-mouse game is back on. Killing Eveis now streaming on Netflix in the US, which means you can watch (or rewatch) all four seasons of the daring British spy thriller — that’s 32 episodes total — from the very beginning.
Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), the series ran from 2018–2022 and is based on a series of novellas by British author Luke Jennings. It stars Sandra Oh as Eve, an intelligent, outside-the-box field operative tasked with bringing down the sociopathic assassin Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer. Over the course of the critically-acclaimed series, their mutual infatuation — ahem, obsession — takes deadly twists and shocking turns.
Waller-Bridge oversaw Season 1, with each subsequent season helmed by a different head writer/showrunner: Emerald Fennell for Season 2, Suzanne Heathcote for Season 3, and Laura Neal for the final season. Killing Eve also picked up a number of awards during...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Killing Eve” Season 4, Episode 8, “Hello, Losers.”]
In May 2018, when “Killing Eve” aired its first finale, the episode ended in aptly wild fashion. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) was severely wounded; some may even have presumed she was dead. Eve was distraught, having followed through on her season-long promise for vengeance yet unable to cope with the confounding loss she suffered as a result. Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) was a goner (reportedly). Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) was in the wind (though probably on her way back to MI6).
At the time, some wondered if this wasn’t the best possible ending for “Killing Eve.” Audiences already knew another season was in the offing — BBC America renewed the series before it even premiered — but between the cat-and-mouse spy story (that couldn’t go on forever), the “will they, won’t they” central relationship (that never aligned perfectly with either “they should” or “they shouldn’t”), and...

“Killing Eve” fans have never seen Villanelle like this. The BBC America drama returned on Sunday night for Season 4 with what appears to be a major role reversal for its two lead characters: While Eve (Sandra Oh) is taking on a harder edge with a gun in hand, Villanelle (Jodie Comer) seems eager to take a more righteous path.
That has led Villanelle to a religious community, where she’s eager to prove that she’s not a monster. But in her haste to get baptized and prove her worth, Villanelle still gets in her own way. Enter what the show is calling her “Villanelle Vision”: Villanelle starts imagining a version of herself, dressed as Jesus Christ, who has some hard truths for the assassin.
Comer told Variety that playing the vision was “Terrifying. Fun. Hairy. I’ll leave you with that one,” she quipped. “I hope [viewers] enjoy it.

Jodie Comer is killing it at the Emmys. For her turn as the skilled, maniacal assassin Villanelle/Oksana Astankova on BBC America’s “Killing Eve,” the actress just scared up her second consecutive (and career) nomination in Best Drama Actress, the category in which she took home the statuette for the series’ sophomore installment at last year’s awards. Now, Comer is gunning to assassinate her competition once more with her submission to Emmy voters, “Are You from Pinner?,” season 3’s fifth episode.
In this installment, Villanelle travels to Russia to visit her offbeat extended family, which is both surprised and suspicious upon her surprising arrival. “Only in really the past year for me, feeling as an Asian-American actor, do I actually feel change,” says Sandra Oh in her exclusive interview with Gold Derby ostensibly about “Killing Eve” (watch the video above). She continues, “I’ve also been in a long enough time that this is just a feeling I’m having. There is a difference between feeling (or people showing up on magazines) to then actually things being produced and then promoted and then it being received, because the whole development of storytelling, especially in different and diverse voices, has to be developed — that takes time.”
Oh is currently nominated at the Emmys in the Best Drama Actress category for playing Eve Polastri and in Best Drama Series as a “Killing Eve” executive producer. The contending third season of the spy thriller on BBC America marks Oh’s debut in the capacity after three decades in television.

When Suzanne Heathcote was tapped to lead the writers room for the third season of BBC America’s hit Killing Eve (the show brings in a new head writer for every season), she says she didn’t sleep “for months. In the lead-up you’re going for all the meetings and you think, ‘God, I really want this job,’ and then you find out you’ve got it and suddenly you’re terrified because the reality of what the gig is hits you.” Indeed, the first two seasons of the show were critical hits and resulted in ...

The second season of “Succession” opens on Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) emerging from the warm waters of an Icelandic spa.
Kendall has just begun a much-needed stint in rehab, away from his poisonous family, when he is called back by his father and plunged once again into the media dynasty rat race.
HBO’s “Succession” is one of several of this year’s drama series nominees whose characters’ pasts and obsessions lead them to potentially dangerous or perhaps healthy levels of isolation — depending on whether it’s time away from your partner in crime in Netflix’s “Ozark,” the person who tried to murder you in BBC America’s “Killing Eve,” or your traumatic past in Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian.”

“It does take a lot of concentration,” Fiona Shaw revealed about working on “Killing Eve” shortly before receiving her second consecutive Emmy nomination for Best Drama Supporting Actress. She explains in her chat with Gold Derby (watch the exclusive interview above), “When we’re shooting ‘Killing Eve,’ I’m pretty concentrated on it. If I have a glass of wine, I’m guilty. I try and stay fit, go for a lot of walks, running, my Pilates, whatever, but I don’t try and distract myself too much.” The actress qualifies, “I enjoy it, of course.” The season that aired this spring featured the spy thriller’s first episode without Shaw’s Carolyn Martens (or her inferior Eve Polastri as played by headliner Sandra Oh), as the drama told a self-contained story about Jodie Comer‘s assassin character returning home. “When Villanelle was in Russia, trying to discover her family,...

The Emmy Awards ballot for Best Drama Writing lists 240 episodes (from 147 series), so there will be seven nominees in this category for the first time since 1987, per the new rules. The six nominees last year were:
“Better Call Saul” season 4: “Winner” (Peter Gould & Thomas Schnauz) “Bodyguard” season 1: “Episode 1” (Jed Mercurio) “Game of Thrones” season 8: “The Iron Throne” (David Benioff & D. B. Weiss) “The Handmaid’s Tale” season 2B: “Holly” (Bruce Miller & Kira Snyder) “Killing Eve” season 2: “Nice and Neat” (Emerald Fennell) Winner — “Succession” season 1: “Nobody is Ever Missing” (Jesse Armstrong)
“Better Call Saul” and “Game of Thrones” are out of contention, but “Big Little Lies,” “The Crown” and “Stranger Things” are all back, having been nominated at the Emmys for their writing the last time that they were eligible. “Black Mirror” was snubbed in Best Movie/Limited Writing last year after consecutive wins; this is its...

In entering into the world of FX’s “Pose,” one steps onto the gritty streets of 1980s and 1990s New York City, where characters are losing loved ones to HIV/AIDS — and at the same time attending colorful, vibrant balls that allow for a creative outlet and safe space for those who identify as LGBTQ. These are two very distinct settings, but they must have the same tone. That is why showrunner Steven Canals doesn’t actually separate the worlds — or the scenes set in them — when he writes the episodes.
“Ball scenes are either there to aid in pushing the narrative forward or serve as a reprieve from all of the drama,” Canals says. “But the tone of any ball scene is pretty much in line with the theme of that particular episode.”

Fiona Shaw (‘Killing Eve’) on Carolyn’s dark turn and estranged daughter [Exclusive Video Interview]
“I was very surprised that Carolyn would go towards a gun,” Fiona Shaw says to Gold Derby in her exclusive interview about starring on “Killing Eve” (watch the video above), which concluded its third season with a murderous turn by her MI6 character Carolyn Martens. “I’ve always thought that Carolyn allowed other people to have guns and would take responsibility for the paperwork, but never actually be pulling the trigger,” the actress smiles. She explains about about the shift in characterization, “It was about the fact that a mother was trying to find some resolution about her son’s death and that’s a completely different kettle of fish.”

“This season was about them acknowledging where they’re at and who they are as a result of everything that’s been,” Suzanne Heathcote tells Gold Derby in her exclusive interview about the third season of “Killing Eve” (watch the video above), which charts the relationship between Eve (played by Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer). As is tradition for the darkly comedic spy thriller, BBC America brought in Heathcote to lead the writing for a single season. “It really was about focusing on the season that I was working on specifically,” she says about how much she minded past and future seasons on which she is uninvolved in an official capacity. “There’s always a slight eye to the future and that’s just inevitable when you’re writing anything,” she adds after clarifying, “I wouldn’t have wanted to end things in a way that would have been...

Killing Eve Season 4 was, thankfully, confirmed long ago. A fourth season of BBC America‘s brilliant and highly-addictive spy-assassin show was ordered way back in January, before Season 3 even started. Basically, everyone involved in this production knows that they have a hit on their hands and is acting accordingly.
As Sarah Barnett, President, AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, lauds in a statement:
“How could we not have massive confidence in Killing Eve? It has won big in every major award show and is the highest growing show on U.S. television for six years. The reason for this series’ emphatic embrace is the brilliant women who breathed it into being: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emerald Fennell, Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw and its fairy godmother, executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle.

This article contains Major spoilers for the Killing Eve Season 3 finale.
The Killing Eve Season 3 finale has aired and it left us with plenty of delicious, lingering to turn over and discuss as we wait for the fourth season, which has already been confirmed.
What Does That Last Scene Mean?
One of the cool things about Killing Eve is that, every scene, it promotes a new female writer to head writer of the show. This not only means that the show acts an incubator of sort to give women the chance to run their own show, but it also creates a system in which the previous head writer challenges the next head writer to fulfill their season finale cliffhanger.
Last season, Season 2 head writer Emerald Fennell ended the season with Villanelle shooting Eve in Rome and leaving her to die and Season 3 head writer Suzanne Heathcote was responsible for playing...

The thing about ill-fated romances is you usually have to see them through to the end anyway. Sure, they may seem like a bad idea, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Whether it’s a secret crush that later festers into regret, or a platonic friendship that veers into more intimate territory, knowing a coupling won’t work out is both a rational perspective and an incomplete one. You have to explore the nature of that attraction until you can really know where it stems from, and typically, that means telling the person how you feel and seeing what happens next.

The following contains major spoilers for Killing Eve season 3 episode 5.
Just about every week on Killing Eve is a big, momentous occasion. Still, it’s not every week on Killing Eve that someone (This Is Your Final Spoiler Warning) kills their own mom…or mum if you prefer. And on Mother’s Day no less!
That’s exactly what happens in Killing Eve season 3 episode 5 “Are You From Pinner?” when Oksana Astankova a.k.a. Villanelle visits her old Russian stomping grounds (with Romania serving as a stand-in for “Mother Russia”) and tries to reconnect with her family. Suffice it to say, some reunions go better than others.
“Obviously what happens is enormous to her in terms of who she is and her upbringing,” Killing Eve season 3 lead writer Suzanne Heathcote told Den of Geek prior to the season’s premiere, in a masterclass of understatement.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Are You From Pinner?” the fifth episode of the third season of “Killing Eve.”
Villanelle (Jodie Comer) just committed her most personal murder to date. But it was not one she took lightly.
In the fifth episode of the third season of “Killing Eve,” the spotlight was entirely on Villanelle as she returned to Russia and reconnected with her mother (Evgenia Dodina), brother Pyotr (Rob Feldman) and their extended family, which now included a stepfather and stepbrothers. By the end of the episode she had deeply bonded with the youngest in the family, Bor’ka (Temi Blaev) — but murdered her mother and caused an explosion in the house.
But, it was a murder that was kept off-screen. The episode went from seeing Villanelle reluctantly tell her mother, “I think I have to kill you” to seeing her mother’s...

This Killing Eve post-mortem includes spoilers for Season 3, Episode 3.
It’s not so often that we get to see the two Killing Eve leads together on screen. Much of the draw of the spy-assassin drama is the cat-and-mouse game between Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer), and a cat can’t chase a mouse if they are already together.
Still, watching a drama that is ostensibly about the complex relationship between these two women in which the two women never see one another wouldn’t work either, so every once in a while, Eve and Villanelle meet and, more times than not, it means fireworks. This was definitely the case for Eve and Villanelle’s unexpected bus rendezvous in Season 3‘s “Meetings Have Biscuits,” their first meeting since Villanelle shot Eve and left her for dead in the Season 2 finale. We chatted with Killing Eve lead writer Suzanne Heathcote...

The moment we've all been waiting for has arrived.
No, Eve and Villanelle didn't reunite yet.
But, on Killing Eve Season 3 Episode 2, Villanelle finally learned that Eve is alive.
Her reaction was priceless. It's a mix of surprise, horror, and most of all, excitement. She can try and hide it from Konstantin, but Villanelle is secretly relieved her "ex" survived their time in Rome.
While it's torturous waiting for their big reunion, Killing Eve knows the best things are worth the waiting.

Villanelle: That's impossible.

This article contains spoilers for Killing Eve Season 3, Episode 2.
“I remember coming up with different ways of killing-” …is probably a perfectly normal thing for Suzanne Heathcote, the head writer of Killing Eve’s third season, to say. Rarely an episode of the BBC America spy-assassin drama goes by without Villanelle (Jodie Comer) perpetrating some kind of elaborate murder. Den of Geek spoke to Heathcote, the woman in charge of planning those on-screen murders, ahead of season 3 to get the spoiler-y scoop on the jaw-dropping clown kill scene, which so typifies Killing Eve’s playful-macabre vibe…
Villanelle has worn plenty of memorable fits, from the beguilingly stylish suits and that poofy dress to oddball getups like children’s jammies and lederhosen. She’s also known for her over the top, intricate-yet-clean kills. But nothing prepared us for Villanelle as a petulant clown at a children’s birthday party-slash-put-upon mentor to newbie assassin Felix.

“Killing Eve” kicked off season 3 in typically deadly fashion, with a suitably tragic character death.
Ratings-wise, the episode was watched by 1.1 million total viewers across both AMC and BBC America, which is down only a fraction on the season 2 premiere’s tally of 1.2 million, still the series high to date. In terms of the demographic breakdown, the premiere scored 424,000 total viewers among adults 25-54 and 330,000 among adults 18-49. The former numbers is down a little from the season 2 premiere (but up 33% from the finale and 8% from the season 2 average), while the latter is up a minute amount on last season’s debut (and also better than the season 2 finale by almost 30% and the season 2 average by 12%).

Killing Eve‘s third season opens with both Eve and Villanelle nursing old wounds… only in Eve’s case, her wound is a literal one.
First, though, we flash back to 1974 Moscow, where a young gymnast named Dasha gets berated by her coach for a wobbly landing. She’s comforted by a male gymnast, who offers her a flower and a kiss… but she repays the favor by beating him to a pulp and dusting his lifeless body with chalk. Cut to present day, at an Italian wedding where Maria the bride is giving a toast… and she’s marrying Villanelle!
