Discovery-owned Eurosport has acquired streaming rights in 54 countries to Olympic refugee documentary “We Dare to Dream” by Waad Al-Kateab, the Oscar-nominated Syrian director of “For Sama.”
“We Dare to Dream” is the story of the refugee Olympic team that competed at the 2020 games in Tokyo, which featured stateless athletes from Iran, Syria, South Sudan and Cameroon who swim, run and fight their way to safety in host nations across the world. It’s told through the personal prism of Al-Kateab while she is coming to terms with the reality that she can never return to Aleppo, where she shot “For Sama.” The doc premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and had an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run at New York City’s IFC Center in October.
After the doc premiered at Tribeca, Angelina Jolie joined “We Dare to Dream” as an executive producer to help with its Oscar push.

Last year, this writer had the opportunity to attend Warner Bros. Studios’ first iteration of their “Horror Made Here” Halloween-themed celebration that took attendees all over the WB lot for a multi-media experience. For this year, though, they really upped the fun factor by streamlining the event, and embracing all these amazing properties that have done so well for both WB as well as New Line Cinema. There were Freddy Kruegers running amok, Valak was coming out of the walls, and even a few Gremlins showed up in the shadows to boot.
All in all, “Horror Made Here” was an absolutely sublime time, especially as a genre fan who grew up on so many of these properties, and I really enjoyed how WB successfully managed to bring together this small-town feel with some big-time horror icons, and if you’re in the Los Angeles area over the next few weekends,...

25 June 2009. The biggest news story of the day was the death of Michael Jackson. Then began the fanzines remembering Michael as the great singer/songwriter he was. But who can ever forget the dance? The moves, the poses? So many have tried to emulate but Mj is still Mj. Sabbir Khan’s Munna Michael is an underdog story of dreams, passion, dance and most importantly the desire to bring Mj back to life on stage. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tiger Shroff and Nidhhi Agerwal play the lead actors and just like the combo, the album is exactly the sort of package we expect from the many music directors involved with the album. With Kumaar penning most of the lyrics, each singer, music director and lyricist involved has looked to remind Indian audiences of the magic that is Michael Jackson.
So, we must begin with an intro for Munna that would fit Mj.

In Underground, Aldis Hodge bares his soul as Noah, a slave who makes the decision to escape from a Georgia plantation. However, the actor wasn’t exactly ready to bare his body for a recent nude scene on the Wgn America series.
“I was not prepared for the fully nude scene,” Hodge recently admitted to Et’s Courtney Tezeno. “I didn't know I was going to be hanging all out. And that was the very first scene we shot the first day… Talk about no time to prepare.”
The 30-year-old star joked that he prepared for the scene with “a lot of fear and a lot of prayer,” but admitted he’s also a stickler for a regular exercise routine, which includes weightlifting and “pushups in between camera setups.” Working out, Hodge explained, is essential for a starring role on a “very physical” show like Underground, which follows the Macon 7 as they make their way to freedom...

You can try to survive the chaos of Black Friday from your own couch now that Dead Rising 4 is available for the Xbox One and Windows 10 from Capcom, but the crowds Frank West faces are more interested in his flesh than the great deals at the Willamette mall. Injecting holiday cheer and palpable fear into the new Dead Rising game's soundtrack is Oleksa Lozowchuk, and we caught up with the composer and soundtrack producer for our latest Q&A feature.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Oleksa. You’ve created music for the Dead Rising franchise in the realms of video games and film. How do you balance bringing something new to the table while building upon the music that you’ve already created for the franchise?

Paris Jackson is spending some time with her godfather, Macaulay Culkin.
Specifically, the 18-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson spent her day giving the Home Alone star a pedicure.
Jackson took to Instagram on Saturday to show off her nail painting skills. The color of choice? A dark burgundy hue.
"Model? nah i paint hipsters toenails for a living," Jackson captioned the pic.
Culkin, 36 -- who has always been close with his goddaughter, especially after her father's death in 2009 -- has been living in New York City, rocking out with his band The Pizza Underground and acting in various projects including, The Jim Gaffigan Show.

See me! Feel me! Touch me! That’s a lyric from the Who's Tommy, but it also describes the sensations that swim in your head when you look at photos by Harry Benson. There's music in them, as well as spontaneity and heat; they're alive in ways still camera images rarely are. That vitality is an essential part of the great Scot himself, a livewire from Glasgow who just turned 87 without losing the sharp burr on his tongue, the green pocket squares that dot his jackets or the witty glint...

The Weeknd’s rise through the ranks of pop has been something to marvel at. After breaking onto the scene with his trilogy of R&B-esque mixtapes in 2011, The Weeknd, née Abel Tesfaye, managed to create something promising with his debut full-length, Kiss Land, before changing up his game entirely with its follow-up, Beauty Behind The Madness.
Beauty essentially did everything that Kiss Land didn’t, but also improved upon the things it did well. More importantly, it sent his sound toward new heights with his refined take on pop. Unapologetically candid, brooding, and of course, catchy as all hell, Beauty showed a side of The Weeknd that was only ever touched on previously.
If that album was his journey in dealing with the highs and lows of his new found fame, his new record is all about shifting the fame that has made him a superstar into becoming a full-blown monster.

Lady Gaga's fashion statement for Hillary Clinton's final rally in Morrisville, North Carolina, gave some people the wrong impression.

Lady Gaga is undoubtedly one of the biggest fashion risk-takers currently walking the red carpet. Though she’s evolved from her days of decapitated Kermit dresses and arriving in giant eggs, she hasn’t abandoned her love of a vertiginous heelless platform and has recently developed a new style uniform in the form of an array of hot pants and t-shirts cropped so as to leave plenty of underboob fully exposed. But while the pop star’s looks while out in public may be pretty wild, Gaga admitted in a recent interview that her favorite piece is actually something very...

Hello, readers! This is the first entry in a brand new monthly column I’m debuting here on Daily Dead, Practical-ly Perfect, which is my way of celebrating the world of special effects and the visionary artists who work tirelessly to make the impossible possible for the filmmakers they collaborate with.
Growing up a horror fan, I became entranced with monsters and creatures at a very early age, and it’s a love that I still carry with me to this very day. Maybe it has something to do with my first movie ever, An American Werewolf in London, which became the standard for practical effects in the early 1980s and has remained one of the greatest achievements in the industry for over 35 years, or maybe seeing the behind-the-scenes video for Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video was another big part of it—I’m not sure. All I know is that for me,...

Sundance begins today, and that means we all wait with bated breath about the next films to get excited about this year, but in the meantime, here’s a few early clips that have snuck out for films premiering at Sundance. First up, Southside With You is based on the origin story of the relationship between President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Richard Tanne‘s debut feature premiering at Sundance certainly has a relevant hook, and this clip gives the best sense of the flirty rapport between the two budding politicians, played by Parker Sawyers and Tika Sumpter.
Next up, Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown To Off the Wall, directed by Spike Lee, shines a light on the decade plus period between Michael Jackson’s Motown records days and the release of his landmark album, Off the Wall. The first clip shows Jackson in 1979 strutting in an impossibly shiny suit,...
