Given how he started his career, as a rapper and then as a star in the Fast and Furious franchise, it would have seemed unlikely to see Chris “Ludacris” Bridges starring in … a Christmas movie. But that’s exactly what is happening now: Bridges is featured alongside Lil Rel Howery in Dashing Through the Snow, Hollywood’s latest entry in the long line of “could this truly be the real Santa Claus?” films. Bridges spoke about the role, and said he was excited about the prospect of doing something unexpected. Mike Flanagan’s Netflix output has consistently been the best horror content on the platform. His 2018 family drama ghost story series The Haunting of Hill House made a huge impression at the time, establishing Flanagan as a must-watch creative in TV as well as film. The popularity of Hill House ended up spawning a franchise, of sorts.
Part of the appeal was how well it stuck the landing for such an emotional rollercoaster of a show. But according to the creator himself, that oddly uplifting ending almost didn’t happen at all.
Showrunner Mike Flanagan made a notable change to the intended ending of ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ (L-r): McKenna Grace, Lulu Wilson, Henry Thomas, Julian Hillard, Paxton Singleton, Violet Mcgraw, and Carla Gugino in ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ | Steve Dietl/Netflix
The Haunting of Hill House was a loose adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name.

What is ‘Wolf Pack’ about?
Wolf Pack is based on a book series of the same name. The books tell the story of a couple who rescue a pack of young wolf cubs who end up turning into human babies. They follow the group of kids as they balance high school with their supernatural adventures.

Likely you have seen the photo: Richard Nixon, President of the United States, shaking hands with Elvis Presley, the King of Rock N’ Roll in full Las Vegas costume. Sully also stars Aaron Eckhart (“Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Dark Knight”) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (“The Savages,” “Kinsey,” Showtime’s “The Big C”) as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger.

In case you weren’t altogether sure exactly what was coming your way with Fox‘s new effort, Scream Queens, there’s finally a sneak peek for you. Take a look above.
The show proudly announces that it is by the creators of Glee and American Horror Story (and is apparently reusing sets of the latter), but doesn’t just come out and say who that is, which is decidedly odd marketing. If those two shows do any work convincing you to watch, you know who Ryan Murphy is.
At any rate, you might expect that the show might as well be Ahs: Sorority, but you’d be slightly misled there. While Ahs has slid down a deplorably goofy slope since its first season, the problem with that show is that it took itself seriously. While that may turn out to be the case here as well, it looks...

A new trailer for "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" reunites three-quarters of the original gang -- Lou (Rob Corddry), Nick (Craig Robinson), and Jacob (Clark Duke) -- for even more time-traveling shenanigans, only in this version, the trio is actively trying to alter the past.
Unfortunately for the gang, that plan doesn't go as well as the first time around. While their inadvertent trip to the '80s in the first flick allowed them to return to the present with lots of insider knowledge -- Lou has invented the internet, while Nick has become a famous musician thanks to penning popular tunes like "Call Me Maybe" more than a decade before Carly Rae Jepsen stormed the charts -- it seems that the trio has now fallen on hard times.
Naturally, they decide to take another dip in the fateful tub to determine what went wrong, but can't quite control where they land in time.

Chicago – Dwayne Johnson doesn’t just want to be The Rock. And perhaps he is more after all. Despite his professional wrestling fame, “Snitch” is Johnson’s plea to be respected as a true, dramatic actor. He’s doing it now just like Jackie Chan wanted to evolve beyond being just a funny karate man in the latest “The Karate Kid”.

An actor can do everything – just like Robert De Niro. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro,” Jackie Chan told HollywoodChicago.com in 2010 on “The Karate Kid” red carpet.

Chicago – Director Ti West has formulated a career re-imagining some of the scare tactics used in the classic horror films of the late 1970s and early ‘80s. His deliberately paced style created a frightening “House of the Devil” in 2009, and now he’s back with up-and-coming Sara Paxton for “The Innkeepers.”
“The Innkeepers” is vintage bump-in-the-night style horror, with an old hotel, a murder legend and mysterious happenings-a-go-go. Actress Sara Paxton plays one of the title characters, a directionless college dropout who works the front desk and frets about every little 19th century noise. Joining her in the mayhem is Kelly McGillis, a goddess of the 1980s (”Top Gun,” “Witness”), and indie queen Lena Durham (”Tiny Furniture”).

HollywoodNews.com: If not for the fact that it were a remake of a beloved 1971 Sam Peckinpah film, Rod Lurie’s Straw Dogs would be a prime example of what we claim we want in our popcorn entertainment. It is, quite simply, an old-fashioned star-driven thriller with an emphasis on character and relationships. It stars adults, concerns adults, and deals with explicitly adult subject matter. That it doesn’t quite work as a piece of social commentary is merely a strike against it, but the picture remains intelligent and tense throughout. I suppose we can discuss the irony of something that was quite controversial back in 1971 being rather run-of-the-mill today. To paraphrase The Tower of Power, what’s hip yesterday, will today become passé.
A token amount of plot: David and Amy Sumner (James Marsden and Kate Bosworth) have temporarily relocated to Amy’s Deep South childhood neighborhood following the death of her father.

Shark Night 3D North American box-office actuals have been released for the Sept. 2-5, 2011, Labor Day weekend. Tate Taylor's The Help easily topped the slow holiday weekend, grossing $19.88 million according to Box Office Mojo. That's nearly $1 million more than the studio's original $19m estimate. As mentioned in a previous box-office post, The Help is the first movie since Christopher Nolan-Leonardo DiCaprio's summer 2010 sci-fier Inception to top the North American box-office chart for three consecutive weekends. The Help, by now an all-but-assured Best Picture Oscar and SAG Award for Best Cast contender, features Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sissy Spacek, Mary Steenburgen, Allison Janney, Cicely Tyson, Chris Lowell, and Mike Vogel. Director Taylor adapted Kathryn Stockett's bestselling novel. Directed by Shakespeare in Love's John Madden, produced and co-written by Kick-Ass' Matthew Vaughn, and starring Avatar's Sam Worthington,...

Chicago – “Shark Night 3D” is at the top of the food chain when it comes to the people-so-stupid-they-lack-basic-survival-skills category of horror thrillers, and has so many wrong elements it nearly swings back to be right.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
The biggest problem with Shark Night is that it’s deadly dull in spots, and strangely judicious in how they show the actual sharks. The 3D per usual is useless, unless you like chunks of fish goo floating around your eyes. Believe it or not, the acting is quite sincere (and over the top), and some of the dialogue is of the so-bad-it’s-good variety, nominating it for future cult status. The production would have been improved by excising the dull parts, but then again if they were thrown out the film would have been about 30 minutes.

Katharine McPhee, co-star of “Shark Night 3D,” told Speakeasy that she wanted to make something different than the campy hit “Piranha 3D” when she signed on to make the coming film. “Initially I read the script and I didn’t even know about ‘Piranha 3D,’” she said in an interview Wednesday night. “But when we were shooting it, ‘Piranha 3D’ had just come out, and I think we all had a general consensus that our movie was nothing like ‘Piranha 3D.

ABC is premiering a brand new show this weekend that has been described as “Desperate Housewives” meets “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. On Sunday, June 20th, “The Gates” makes its debut to the summer season, taking you to an exclusive community that spins the drama of living in the suburbs with a supernatural twist. Check out the synopsis for the pilot episode, the tantalizing first seventeen minutes of the show, and a intro to the show by star, Rhona Mitra. For our readers outside of the States, I’ve also included sneak peeks of the show that are included in the aforementioned seventeen-minute sneak peek.

ABC is launching a bout of hot new summer programming, in an attempt to make summers the breeding ground for more great scripted TV. Last year, they tried to do this with the Canadian astronautical series Defying Gravity, which was one of my favorites until it was cancelled due to low ratings. However, ABC is trying again with several new shows that will take over the timeslots of their major shows after their seasons conclude.
One such show is the new series The Gates, which will be ABC's response to the CW's The Vampire Diaries. The Gates, however, is less creature specific than Vampire Diaries, in that it centers on a myriad of supernatural creatures. There are werewolves, witches, vampires. In fact, it sounds like a True Blood meets Desperate Housewives situation. Here's the show's press release:
