Adam Green will be honored with a new tribute album, dubbed Moping in Style, that features renditions of his solo music from artists including Regina Spektor, Father John Misty, and Jenny Lewis. The project arrives in full December 1st, and as a preview, Org Music and Capitane Records have shared Sean Ono Lennon’s cover of “That Fucking Feeling.”
Best known as one-half of The Moldy Peaches, Green has released 11 solo albums over the past twenty years. The impressive roster on Moping in Style speaks to his influence in the indie rock community: in addition to those aforementioned artists, it boasts The Lemon Twigs, Frankie Cosmos, Lou Barlow, The Lemonheads, The Libertines, and Ben Kweller among its contributors. Pre-orders for the tribute album, which arrives on double LP gatefold and CD, are ongoing.

Though major studios used to crank them out by the truckload, today the movie musical is a fairly infrequent occurrence — not just because they’re commercially risky but because the genre itself is an inherently ambitious undertaking. Ranging from “Once” to Damien Chazelle’s pre-“La La Land” romance “Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench,” there have been some moderately successful attempts at making indie musicals on a micro-budget, but the question still lingers of whether audiences are willing to accept a modern movie in which people sing out their emotions.
In a risky departure from a résumé otherwise dominated by broad comedy, Josh Klausner gives it a stab with “Wanderland.” Different though it may be from his 1999 debut “The 4th Floor” — a quasi-horror thriller with surreal touches — this oddball effort is more an exercise in low-key quirkiness set in a slightly alternative universe where everything but our protagonist is a little “off.

"Fate left you a footstep..." The Orchard has debuted the trailer for an indie comedy titled Wanderland, from director Josh Klausner, which premiered at the Hamptons Film Festival on Long Island last year. Wanderland stars Tate Ellington as Alex, a guy who decides to escape his life in New York City and ends up at a "Enchanted Cottage" on Long Island. There he "ends up lost on a surreal musical all-night odyssey of misadventures." Whoa. The cast includes Tara Summers, Victoria Clark, Jack Dishel, Harris Yulin, Adepero Oduye, and Dree Hemingway. Klausner explained that the film is about "connection in the modern world — how we’re more technically linked to each other than ever before, but we’re in danger of losing the magic of direct, face to face human interaction, with all of its surprises and unknowns." How fun. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Josh Klausner's Wanderland,...

The former star of Home Alone stars in a surreal stoner version of the Arabian Nights tale masterminded by his musician friend Adam Green
Anyone raised on the Disney version of Aladdin may be surprised by Adam Green’s take on the Arabian Nights tale. Green, who rose to fame as one half of the early 2000s indie-rock band the Moldy Peaches, has created an acid-dipped retelling of Aladdin set in a papier-mache world, ruled by a sultan played by painter Francesco Clemente, with a princess that Green describes as “kind of like a Kardashian”, and a magic lamp outfitted with a 3D printer.
Green stars as the titular character, alongside Natasha Lyonne, former child star Macaulay Culkin, Alia Shawkat, Zoe Kravitz, Devendra Banhart and the Moldy Peaches’ guitarist Jack Dishel who plays a hilarious double role. Along with them are many more actors and musicians romping through a cartoon...

We haven't seen a whole lot of Macaulay Culkin these last several years, and it doesn't look like that's going to be changing anytime soon. He pops up occasionally with his band, The Pizza Underground, and appeared as a traumatized version of his Home Alone character this past December in Jack Dishel's Nsfw digital series Dryvrs. "I warned Jack that this was going to be a viral thing," Culkin, 35, tells Vulture in a new interview. "I was happy for it to bring attention to his show, but I don't think I'll do anything like that again." He has another role in pal Adam Green's movie Aladdin, along with Natasha Lyonne, Alia Shawkat, Penn Badgley and Zoë Kravitz....

It's been decades since Macaulay Culkin was a world famous child star, but he still finds himself being recognized in the strangest places. He's often spotted in New York City - where he still lives in the same loft he bought in 1999 - and Culkin, 35 has adapted an almost nocturnal lifestyle to avoid attention. "I'll take walks at two or four in the morning, because there's nobody out on the streets and it's easy for me to go unnoticed," he recently told New York magazine. In the daytime, he can feel people watching him. "And even if I don't get bugged,...

Just last week, Macaulay Culkin essentially reprised his role as Kevin McCallister from the Home Alone movies for a web series Dryvers. In the first episode of the series, Moldy Peaches guitarist Jack Dishel played a passenger catching rides via an Uber-style car service, and the driver who picked him up just so happened to be Culkin, […]

He became a household name thanks to his lead role in the Christmas classic “Home Alone” and now Macaulay Culkin shows the effects of Kevin McCallister’s abandonment in a hilarious new video.
As part of his new web series “Dryvrs,” the “Good Son” actor plays an Uber driver with serious mommy issues while passenger Jack (Jack Dishel) tries not to freak out.
Culkin declares, “It’s [expletive] Christmas. And your whole family goes on vacation… and they forget their 8-year-old [expletive] son. You don’t know what it’s like to be all by yourself, in the house for a week. I defend my house off from two psychopathic home invaders. I was just a kid. They remembered my bastard of a brother, but they forget me. The cutest [expletive] 8-year-old in the universe… Mom was too busy being a groupie for some polka band.” Check the clip!

It’s December, which means it’s the time of year when nostalgia compels us to run through classic holiday movies. Everyone has their favorite (mine is Die Hard), but many people swear by Home Alone, the 1990 classic in which Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister adorably fends off home invaders.
Culkin is all grown up now, and as part of his emergence into adulthood, he is imagining what the same transition would be like for his Home Alone character. He is the guest star in the first episode of :Dryvrs, a web series created by musician Jack Dishel.
In :Dryvrs, Dishel--best known as the former guitarist of The Moldy Peaches and as the husband of Regina Spektor--crafts comedic encounters across a series of Uber rides. In the first episode, he is picked up by Culkin, who whose character has become slightly unhinged after a series of abandonment-related emotional traumas during his childhood.
