Eric Roberts and Dr. Rico Simonini will topline My Dinner With Eric Roberts (Julia’s brother), a platonic rom-com bromance that will be shooting this month in Los Angeles. Described as along the lines of Louie Malle’s My Dinner With Andre, the film follows Roberts having dinner with his cardiologist and friend, Dr. Rico and evolves into their deep passionate friendship and how their lives are intertwined. The pic was written by Roberts, Simonini, Eliza Roberts and Darryl Marshak. Eliza Roberts and Marshak are directing and producing the project with Sarbori Bhattacharya, Joe Levy, and Sambhu Choifhury serving as executive producers.
Wendy Makkena (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) and Walter Belenky have been added to the cast of Spiked, and indie drama based on Arizona newspaper publisher Joseph Soldwedel. The film hails from Juan Martinez Vera, who wrote the screenplay and is directing.

The latest James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" grossed an impressive $70.4 million estimate on its debut weekend for Sony/MGM. Daniel Craig returned as James Bond in 3,451 venues and averaged a massive $20,400 per theatre. "Quantum of Solace" becomes the biggest Bond opener ever, 63% better in fact than "Casino Royale," which marked Craig's first appearance as 007. The film is currently placed as the fifth biggest-ever November opener almost on par with Disney/Pixar's "The Incredibles" at $70.467 million, although this will most likely change with the latter falling below. A remarkable feat indeed as all top November openers are either "Harry Potter" films (the first three rankings) or animated. Family genres rule the month. Second placed "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" from DreamWorks/Paramount showed a 43% change in its sophomore weekend at play with $36.1 million. The sequel animation passed $118 million. In third, surprise hit comedy "Role Models" which has enjoyed good word of mouth push,...

Max PAYNEby Eric Sloss, Writer Movies based on video games do not have a good creative track record over the years. Titles such as “Doom”, “Super Mario Brothers” and “BloodRayne” have come and gone in movie theaters without making much of an impact critically or financially. Many of these movies have the same problem. The script has been lacking and frequently only gamers have noticed the nuances of the characters on the screen. “Max Payne” is yet another video game adapted for the big screen. Mark Wahlberg plays the title character with a quiet intensity. Payne is the typical cop on the edge. His wife and new born baby were murdered and the case is still unsolved. He is despondent and he has relegated himself to the cold case file room. Mysterious murders are happening all across the city. One such murder may hold the key to find out who murdered Payne’s wife.
