John Herring(1885-1971)

Composer, songwriter, author and publisher, educated at the USAF Radar
and Radio School. He wrote special material for night club acts in Las
Vegas, and co-founded the Sawtell and Herring publishing firm in 1962.
Joining ASCAP in 1962, his chief musical collaborators included Louis Prima
and Paul Sawtell, and his other popular-song compositions include "The
Shepherd Man", "What Have I Got of My Own?", and "Go Into the
Mountains".
