Writer-director Gee Malik Linton has disowned this drama about a woman who sees angels, and it’s easy to see why
In the mid-90s, the director Donald Cammell disowned his final film Wild Side after producers at Nu Image recut it as an embarrassingly sleazy lesbian erotic thriller. After the director’s death, the screenwriter China Kong and the editor Frank Mazzola reconstructed Cammell’s original vision and the result was a revelation – a film that bore little or no relation to the producers’ bastardised incarnation. The same may (or may not?) be true of the Jamaican-American writer-director Gee Malik Linton’s debut feature Daughter of God, which surfaces here in a shambolic Lionsgate-approved version under the new title Exposed, with directorial chores now pseudonymously credited to “Declan Dale”.

To call it disjointed is an understatement: Exposed is unintelligible. It feels like two completely different movies inelegantly Frankensteined together. I’m “biast” (pro): like Keanu Reeves
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Late one night, in a nearly deserted New York City subway station, Isabel (Ana de Armas) has a mysterious encounter with a luminous being who floats over the tracks, a creature the very religious woman takes to be an angel. The next morning, a cop is found brutally murdered on that very same spot at the station, and his partner, NYPD detective Galban (Keanu Reeves: John Wick, 47 Ronin), takes up the investigation. Isabel’s life unfolds from here as a sort of dreamy, magic-realism domestic drama: she lives with her in-laws while her soldier husband is deployed in Iraq, works as a teacher of young children...

A fractious editing process led to the director taking his name off this film, but there’s little here to suggest the original cut is a long-lost masterwork
What a strange and frustrating mess this is. Writer-director Gee Malik Linton reportedly envisaged a lengthy metaphysical head-scratcher of a film with thriller elements, called Daughter of God. It was wrenched from his hands by the distributor and chopped down to make some sort of slow-moving police drama with a slow-moving lead performance from Keanu Reeves as a troubled cop. Linton disowned it, and the film now carries the Alan Smithee-type director’s credit of “Declan Dale”.
Would the original, full-length film have been a masterpiece? I guess we’ll never know. I suspect it would just be a longer version of this, in which a beautiful young woman, Isabel de La Cruz (Ana de Armas), experiences ecstatic dream-visions connected to...

As I have said before, the film business is a cutthroat place. If you want to dip your toe into it, you risk getting your entire leg bitten off. Just ask director Gee Malik Linton about what happened with his thriller, "Exposed," which he wrote and directed, and that is set to come out next moth through via Lionsgate. You may have seen the trailer (below) for the film starring Keanu Reeves. Just from the looks of it, it appears to be a rather routine throwback to those cop thrillers from the 1970's or 80's, with a white cop in the middle of an urban jungle, facing scary looking black guys who want to do him bodily harm. However, the project originally was something...

A new trailer has been released for Keanu Reeves' upcoming thriller called Exposed. Reeves plays a detective who is searching for the truth about his partner’s death. In the process, he comes across a woman who seems to take the story in an interesting direction. She claims to have witnessed some kind of miracle.
The movie was directed by Gee Malik Linton, a personal physical trainer for stars such as Tobey Maguire and Anne Hathaway. He’s written and directed some short films as well, but he's managed to work his way into the business and a feature film director.

The movie also stars Ana de Armas (Knock Knock) and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), and it really looks like it could be a decent mystery thriller.

Keanu fans, we have a problem. Remember when John Wick arrived, and we all got excited that this beloved icon of cinema seemed to have finally got his groove back? Well, that may have been a little premature, if the new trailer for Exposed is anything to go by. What began life as an intriguing tale of social issues and spirituality, titled Daughter Of God, seems to have metamorphosed into a run-of-the-mill film about corruption and scowling police officers.
Previous trailers for the film have included snippets of strange visions, experienced by a mysterious female character, played by Ana de Armas, but these are absent from this latest preview footage. Coupled with a lack of a release date, this odd change of direction raises the question of whether a final cut for the film actually exists, or whether discontent behind the camera has been, well, exposed.
The synopsis keeps emphasis...

"Nobody's talkin... and I don't blame them." Lionsgate Premiere has debuted the official Us trailer for the procedural action thriller Exposed, starring Keanu Reeves as a detective searching for the truth behind his partner's killing. We ran an international trailer for this a few weeks ago, and this new version is the official Us launch, but it doesn't look that much better. Aside from Reeves, Exposed stars Ana de Armas, Mira Sorvino, Christopher McDonald and Laura Gómez. It's not that this looks bad, there's just not much going on. The big crime mystery seems bland and boring, but maybe that's me. I am still a Keanu fan. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Gee Malik Linton's Exposed, in high def on Apple: After witnessing a miracle, a young Latina woman (Ana de Armas) experiences strange things as a police detective searches for the truth behind his partner's death.

"The more you dig, the more you risk screwing up. And I don't think you want that on your conscious..." While we wait for Keanu Reeves to bring us John Wick 2, which he is in the midst of shooting in New York City right now, here's a trailer for another one of his films. Gulf Films has debuted a trailer for a movie titled Exposed, even though IMDb calls it Daughters of God, so who knows what it'll end up being by the time it gets released here. Keanu Reeves stars as a detective and it starts with the murder of his partner. While investigating what happened, he meets a young Latina woman with strange visions. Ana de Armas, Mira Sorvino, Christopher McDonald and Laura Gómez also star. I'm not really sure what to make of this. Here's the first official trailer for Gee Malik Linton's Exposed, direct...

An international trailer has been released for a new Keanu Reeves movie called Exposed. The original title for the film was Daughter of God, and the story follows a detective who is searching for the truth behind his partner’s death. Things take an interesting turn when mysterious occurrences starts to affect a local woman who claims to have witnessed a miracle.

The film looks solid, though, and apparently the script he wrote was very strong. It would have to be somewhat decent if he was able to find financing for it and get Reeves on board to star in it, especially...

Though Keanu Reeves had been gradually piecing together the beginning of a comeback with 2013’s fantasy film 47 Ronin, it was last year’s hardboiled John Wick that irrefutably fired the actor back into the spotlight. It’s due to get a sequel, too, lending Reeves an opportunity to branch out in the interim. But watching the debut trailer for Gee Malik Linton’s crime drama Exposed really makes us long for the stylish and satisfying thrill ride that is John Wick.
Stepping into the shoes of a dead-beat cop, Reeves toplines the supernatural-tinged noir as a detective in the search for answers. Upon the mysterious death of his long-time partner, our grizzled lead sets his crosshairs on a young Latino woman who claims to experience strange supernatural visions.
Providing a new angle to the case, she’ll be played by Ana de Armas, paving the way for a Knock Knock reunion with Reeves.

Firmly establishing he can still be a mega-cool onscreen presence with "John Wick," and lining up a role in Nicolas Winding Refn's upcoming "The Neon Demon," you might think we're in the midst of Keanu Reeves renaissance. But the actor still makes some ropey career decisions, as evidenced by the new trailer for "Exposed" (also known as "Daughter Of God"), which looks to be a rather boilerplate little thriller. Written and directed by Gee Malik Linton, reteaming Reeves with "Knock Knock" co-star Ana de Armas, and also starring actress Mira Sorvino, this glum picture follows a detective trying to solve a case, while protecting the life of a young witness who seems to have a supernatural gift. Here's the official synopsis: A detective searches for the truth behind his partner’s death as mysterious occurrences begin to affect a local woman who claims to have witnessed a miracle. No...

Today's MPAA ratings bulletin delivers a couple of potential Oscar contenders beginning with Steven Spielberg's Cold War thriller starring Tom Hanks, Bridge of Spies. No surprise this one is rated PG-13 and a tame one at that and it's not much different when it comes to Peter Landesman's NFL head injury drama Concussion starring Will Smith. A lengthy bit of reasoning accompanies the PG-13 for Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and there's a lot said about Paramount's R-rated Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse. A24's Room, however, starring Brie Larson gets a concise and to the point R rating for language. Nuff said. Also included is Incarnate, a new Blumhouse horror from director Brad Peyton (San Andreas) and starring Carice van Houten, Aaron Eckhart, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Keir O'Donnell. IMDb says the thriller will play in Belgium in September, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear...

Keanu Reeves’ current career reboot, kickstarted by a return-to-form turn in John Wick, looks set to continue if this week’s news is any indication. Yesterday he signed up to co-star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s female-led horror, The Neon Demon, he’s already completed work on Eli Roth’s Knock Knock, and now, he’s hitting the streets of New York for his next effort, Daughter Of God.
As the film is currently in the process of being sold at the European Film Market, a small batch of images from the project have hit the web. Reeves takes center stage in both snaps as a police detective investigating the murder of his partner.
Written and directed by Gee Malik Linton – who will make his directorial debut with the movie – the story hones in on Reeves’ Detective, Scott Galban, as he seeks out the truth during his investigation.
