“The Invisible Man” star Oliver Jackson-Cohen and “Grantchester’s” Jeremy Neumark Jones have been tapped to lead upcoming World War II feature “The World Will Tremble.”
Written and directed by Lior Geller, the film tells the true story of a group pf prisoners who broke out of the Third Reich’s first Nazi death camp, Chelmno.
Jackson-Cohen plays Solomon Wiener while Neumark Jones takes on the role of Michael Podchlebnik.
They are joined by Anton Lesser (“Andor”), David Kross (“The Reader”), Michael Fox (“Dunkirk”), Charlie MacGechan (“We Die Young”), Michael Epp (“The Beekeeper”), Danny Scheinmann (“Stan & Ollie”), Tim Bergmann and George Lenz.

Israel’s Yaron Shani, best known for his feature debut “Ajami,” nominated for the Best International Feature Oscar in 2010, is presenting his debut television series, “Innermost,” at Series Mania.
Variety is unveiling an exclusive first look at the series, which world premieres March 20 at the prominent television event unspooling in Lille, France over March 17-24.
The six-episode limited series, world premiering in Series Mania’s International Panorama section, follows three characters whose lives intersect. Aäläm-Wärqe Davidian’s The Fig Tree won the Audentia Award for best film by a female director at the Toronto International Film Festival, taking home a 30,000 Euro grant. The Fig Tree produced by Naomi Levari and Saar Yogev from Black Sheep Film Productions is Davidian’s feature debut. It defeated 12 other films and also debuted at the festival as part of the Discovery Section.
Davidian, who immigrated to Israel from Ethiopia at the age of 11, filmed the movie in her hometown, Addis Ababa, in Amharic, with a team of local actors. It takes place at the end of the 1980s and the early 1990s and tells of Mina, a young woman who is friends with Ali and meets with him under the fig tree.
Israeli director Guy Nattiv won the Fipresci Jury Award for Special Presentations for his first American film called Skin. Nattiv’s film, who lives in the U.

The 10 titles include Balkan projects, as well as several from further afield, such as Alamork Davidian’s Fig Tree, which recently won an award at Jerusalem Film Festival’s Pitch Point competition, and Reem Saleh’s Lebanon-Egypt doc What Comes Around.

Exclusive: Black comedy to play in competition at Critics’ Week.
New Europe Film Sales has picked up Asaph Polonsky’s black comedy One Week and a Day and sold all French rights to Sophie Dulac Distribution.
The feature debut of Us-born, Israeli filmmaker Polonsky was yesterday named as a competition title in the Critics’ Week sidebar of the Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22).
Polonsky is an AFI graduate, whose graduation film Samnang was nominated for an Academy Award in 2013.
One Week and a Day tells a story of a grieving father, who finishes a week of mourning for his late son and is urged by his wife to return to their routine. He instead gets high with a young neighbour and sets out to discover there are still things in life worth living for.

Ethiopian-born, Israeli filmmaker Alamork Marsha’s Fig Tree, based on her experiences as a child in war-torn Addis Ababa in 1991, has won the $50,000 top prize at the pitching event of Sam Spiegel school’s Jerusalem International Film Lab.
It was an apt choice as fighting escalated between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, some 70 kilometres down the road, where more than 160 inhabitants have died in Israeli air strikes over the past six days, launched in response to a barrage of rocket attacks on Israel. (In fact air sirens were heard in Jerusalem just 15 minutes before the awards were announced.)

Exclusive: The UK’s Framestore and producer David P. Kelly are set to partner on a $5m Mexican Cold War feature Lunik III, pitched at this week’s Moscow Business Square (Mbs).
Speaking exclusively to ScreenDaily, producer Victor Zavala Kugler of Jade Films said the English-language project was being pitched for the first time in Moscow since being introduced at the market in Guadalajara earlier this year

¨We have a co-production agreement between Mexico and the UK, and the UK can work with Russia through the European Convention, so we don’t have to wait for an agreement between Mexico and Russia,¨ Kugler said.
