Stars: Shian Denovan, Nansi Nsue, Annabelle Lanyon, Stuart Sessions, Anthony Ilott, Noah James, Jack Loy, Jimmy Vee | Written by James Owen, Tom Critch | Directed by James Owen
After a failed theft at a dog fighting ring, con artist couple Nina (Shian Denovan) and Yaz (Nansi Nsue) must escape a dangerous criminal pursuing them. The pair end up at the house of Beryl (Annabelle Lanyon), a seemingly kind old woman who has £3000 in cash stashed away. Circumstances turn out worse than the couple expects, as the pair must fight for their lives against Beryl’s family of hungry cannibals.
Centring his feature debut around con artists, co-writer/director James Owen depicts a couple with differing opinions of their future. Nina is hopeful that they can lead a normal life with a more traditional line of work, while Yaz believes such a life is unattainable and escapes her bleak reality through addiction.

Following the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker dropping last night, 15 official images have been released which take the form of high-quality screenshots from the thrilling, emotional teaser for Episode IX.
The photos, as per the preview, capture all our heroes uniting for this final installment of the Skywalker Saga. That’d be Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo), C-3Po (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Jimmy Vee) and Bb-8. And don’t forget the much-anticipated return of Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). Meanwhile, on the dark side, we have Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and a possible glimpse at the resurrected Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid).
The confrontation between the dark and the light appears to culminate on the wreckage of the Death Star, which we can infer is where Darth Sidious has been recuperating all these years. Perhaps as a result of...

It was an emotional day for Oscar Isaac when he wrapped filming on Star Wars: Episode IX, but it may have been an even bigger occasion for Anthony Daniels, whose decades-spanning journey as C-3Po might well be drawing to a close.
Isaac recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he recalled how his final day on the set of Episode IX was overshadowed by Daniels’ departure:
“It was such a milestone. And what’s particularly special is the day that I finished – these three massive movies, such a huge part of my life – it was like, ‘okay, Oscar’s done,’ so I said a few words. And then it was, ‘and it’s also Anthony Daniels’ last day on set!’ Way to take the thunder…! He’s been there from the very beginning. While the social media activity of various Pinewood Studios crew members already gave a strong indication that filming for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX was finally wrapping today, director J.J. Abrams just made the news official in a new tweet that also shares an emotional moment from the set of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy’s final installment.
In recent weeks, we’ve already seen a few social media posts from cast members like Anthony Daniels and Jimmy Vee that marked the end of their time on set. Now, it seems it’s Abrams’ turn to call it day, and so The Force Awakens helmsman took to Twitter with a message thanking his “truly magical” cast and crew:
“It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”

Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer, with various social media posts from Pinewood crew members indicating that principal photography on the film has now wrapped.
As an added bonus, Disney has announced today that something called “Triple Force Friday” is coming on October 4th of this year. The Star Wars franchise has a history when it comes to offering unnecessary origin stories for the names of classic characters, but thanks to a tidbit recently shared by the Star Wars Holocron Twitter account, you may genuinely find that the name “C-3Po” takes on just a little more emotional weight.
As you may recall, Anthony Daniels’ character was built by none other than Anakin Skywalker while he still just a young boy on Tatooine. Given these origins as a homemade design, you may find it a bit odd that the droid was given what sounds like an assembly line name, but as Star Wars Holocron points out, the “3” in “C-3Po” was included by Anakin as a reference to the character being the third member of the Skywalker family after himself and his mother. And while it’s unclear when and how this detail was first made canon,...

Though R2-D2 and C-3Po have appeared in every Star Wars episode to date, it’s been a while now since the two of them have been given much opportunity to interact with each other, with the duo being kept mostly separate in the ongoing Sequel Trilogy. That looks set to change, however, with the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, with actor Jimmy Vee announcing the end of his time on set with a shout out to his costar Anthony Daniels.
For the last few movies, Vee has taken over from original R2 actor Kenny Baker, who was credited as consultant for The Force Awakens before his passing in 2016. Now it seems that Vee has filmed his last scenes for J.J. Abrams’ next film, with the star taking to Twitter with a set photo of R2 and 3Po, along with the following message:
“It’s been a pleasure working with you.

The force is strong with this one. Very strong, in fact. Rian Johnson has managed a delicate balance with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Not only has he crafted a more than worthy sequel, he’s also differentiated himself with the most distinctive outing yet. This bodes very well for the next trilogy he’s begun developing. This week, the film opens across the globe and looks to be a massive hit. It could very well be as big as Star Wars: The Force Awakens was. At the very least, it should easily be 2017’s biggest movie. Luckily, it’s also one of the year’s very best. This film, for those somehow not in the know about it, is the next installment in the main portion of the iconic Star Wars Saga. It picks up right after Rey (Daisy Ridley) encounters Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), now living in exile.

Lots of fans in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con are on the hunt for Sdcc exclusive figures/merchandise. Now it looks like there will be an exclusive Star Wars Black Series 2-pack featuring Luke Skywalker and Rey from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it's making its rounds on the internet. The figures give us a good look at what Rey and Luke will look like in the early scenes of episode VIII.
Rey's figure comes with her staff, blaster, and the blue bladed Skywalker lightsaber which has been officially rebranded as Rey’s. Sadly, Luke’s action figure does not come with any accessories, begging the question, does he still have his iconic green lightsaber that he kicked so much ass with in Return of the Jedi?
It's not officially clear yet if this will be a Sdcc exclusive, but keep your eyes peeled, this one could be dropping as a surprise.

When long-time R2-D2 performer Kenny Baker died last year, the Star Wars franchise quietly noted that actor Jimmy Vee—who worked without being credited on the character for Star Wars: The Force Awakens—would take over the role for the then-untitled Episode VIII. Now, Variety reports that Disney has made the casting official, with news coming that Vee will be the credited performer for the beloved droid in Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi. (R2 is largely created through CGI and remote control unit these days, but there are still scenes that require a human performer to control the suit.)

Kenny Baker played R2-D2 in every Star Wars film since 1977. In August of last year, the actor passed away at the age of 81, and he needed to be replaced by someone for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. That someone happens to be Jimmy Vee, who worked alongside Baker as R2 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Vee revealed the news in a statement he released in which he said:
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker. Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the ‘tricks’ on how he brought R2-D2 to life which I will continue to portray in his honor. I’m so excited to be a part of the Star Wars universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year.”
It seems like Vee is an honorable replacement for Baker.

Warner Bros. Pictures released their new fantasy/adventure movie, "Pan" into theaters this weekend, and all the major, top movie critics have turned in their reviews for it. Unfortunately, it didn't quite resonate well with them, getting only an overall 34 score out of a possible 100 across 33 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film stars: Garrett Hedlund, Hugh Jackman, Jimmy Vee, Levi Miller and Rooney Mara. We've posted comments from a couple of the critics, below. Bill Zwecker over at the Chicago Sun-Times, gave it an ok 75 score, stating: "Full of non-stop action, an intriguing new take on J.M. Barrie’s classic “Peter Pan” tale and some old-fashioned, swashbuckling mischief led by Hugh Jackman, director Joe Wright’s Pan is one heck of a charming romp." Tom Russo from the Boston Globe, gave it a 63 grade. He stated: "Passable adventure that offers the occasional flash of real cleverness." Joe McGovern at Entertainment Weekly,...

Initally, a source had informed us they believed Kenny Baker was in Portmagee yesterday. While they were correct in the little person info they sent, they got Baker wrong, and as a result, we got it wrong. Turns out the "little person" that came ashore was none other than Jimmy Vee. He stands at 3' 8" and has starred in a number of Doctor Who episodes. He'll also be starring in Pan alongside Hugh Jackman this October. However, Vee is not listed anywhere for Star Wars Episode VIII which is now shooting in Skellig Michael off the Kerry coast. We've seen the photographic proof of Vee coming ashore this morning, however, we don't have permission to publish the image. Skellig Michael is a tough hike at the best of times, once you brave the North Atlantic and choppers aside, I'd imagine that Kenny Baker (at the fantastic age of 81) may not be up the location,...

Update 16 September 11:52Am GMT Contrary to our earlier information, it now turns out that it wasn't Kenny Baker, but indeed Jimmy Vee who has played all kinds of characters in the likes of Doctor Who. He also stars in the forthcoming Pan. Vee now seems a likely replacement for Kenny Baker and will no doubt be rocking (literally) the R2 unit. Funningly enough, Vee is not listed anywhere to be starring in Episode VIII, so whether or not he's a last minute stand in for Kenny Baker, is unknown. Unfortunately, we're not on the ground in Portmagee (yet) and relied on a source for the information. At least they got the little person part right, but obviously it wasn't Baker. ---- Update 16 September 9:57Am GMT We have a full list of shooting restrictions that have been given to Rian Johnson and his crew. Read all 15 here ---- Update...

The directors of Doctor Who's latest series brought back the scares in a big way. Well, fear is a superpower...
Warning: contains spoilers for every episode of the eighth series of Doctor Who.
We were promised back in August that the Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who would mark a departure from the adventurous fairy tale approach of Matt Smith's run.
“Darker” and “edgier” are buzz words that have been applied to countless Hollywood sequels, but the eighth series actually lived up to that promise and by September, the tabloid press were dispensing think-pieces about whether or not it had become too scary for children (“scary” here standing in for “complicated” in Smith's era and “heretical” when David Tennant got a lift off a couple of angel robots in Voyage Of The Damned.)
All moral panics aside, this series brought back the scares in a big, bad way.

Almost every Doctor Who writer has a certain thumbprint that they tend to leave on the stories they write. Steven Moffat has mind-melting time paradoxes, Classic Who scribe Robert Holmes had unsubtle political commentary, and Gareth Roberts has the Doctor trying to blend in with modern day humans; with The Caretaker being his third episode in a row to use this plot device.
But that’s not necessarily a bad thing since he tends to do it very well. Despite the mass of similarities to The Lodger (2010) and Closing Time (2011), The Caretaker manages to carve its own little niche as a relaxed comedic episode thanks largely to the completely different character dynamics at play this time around.

The real thing that the episode has going for it is the humour. It’s not the out there gag-a-minute humour of Robot Of Sherwood but it’s still a very...

Peter Capaldi is far from the only Doctor Who actor to appear in multiple roles. Mark talks us through the many others to have done so...
It's been just over a year since the BBC announced that Peter Capaldi would play the Twelfth Doctor. There were rumblings of his casting in the week before the announcement was made, to the point where bookies stopped taking bets on it.
We've spent the last twelve months in anticipation of what seems like dream casting for the Time Lord, but some of us were a little sceptical that an actor of his profile and standing would take the role until it was actually announced, but “he's been in it before” was not atop the list of reasons why we thought it was too good to be true.
Over the course of 50 years, Doctor Who has inevitably reused actors as different characters- there are...
