A dying planet. A fight for life. The search for Spock. It all returns to theaters this year. To commemorate the 40th anniversary, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock will beam back onto screens. Unfortunately for most of us, the release is only headed to the United Kingdom, leaving everybody else wondering if we’ll get it as well.
When it was released, The Search for Spock opened at #1 with $16.7 million, a best for the franchise up to that point. It also beat out Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in its second week. But it would fall short of its predecessors on the worldwide box office, taking in $87 million compared to Star Trek: The Motion Picture’s $139 million and The Wrath of Khan’s $95.8 million. It would also be surpassed by the fourth installment, The Voyage Home.

The summer movie season kicks off in earnest this weekend as Universal Pictures' "The Fall Guy" arrives. But that's not the only big movie hitting theaters -- or should we say returning to theaters: Disney is bringing "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" back to the big screen in honor of its 25th anniversary. It will also be back in theaters just in time for Star Wars Day. Much has changed in the years since this movie originally debuted, and those changes may help make "Episode I" a hit once again.
Disney is rolling out the red carpet for this re-release of the first entry in George Lucas' "Star Wars" prequel trilogy. It's getting a wide release, a sizable ad campaign, and even a beautiful new poster by artist Matt Ferguson. The majority of moviegoers are likely to flock to "The Fall Guy," which is looking at a box office debut as high as $40 million.

A long time ago, in the galaxy you reside in, "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" arrived in theaters. The first "Star Wars" prequel arrived on the big screen 25 years ago, and a quarter of a century is certainly enough to be labeled a long time ago.
With the beginning of the Skywalker saga returning to theaters for this milestone anniversary, our friends at Bottleneck Gallery are celebrating by making Matt Ferguson's gorgeous, commemorative poster for the theatrical re-release available to purchase for a limited time. This follows in the footsteps of Ferguson's incredible "Star Wars" anniversary artwork from recent years, which has included a stunning poster for "Empire Strikes Back" and stellar artwork for "Return of the Jedi." Ferguson has also promised that when the next anniversary comes around, he'll complete the original trilogy by doing a new poster for "A New Hope."

Jaws, The Shawshank Redemption, Blade Runner, Goodfellas and more are getting 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Steelbooks in the UK.
The Film Vault range of physical media releases has previously seen much-loved films presented in deluxe packaging, with assorted extra materials in the box. They’re on the pricey side, but there’s no denying the love that’s gone into putting them together.
Now, a slightly more economic range of reissues for the seven films in the range so far is incoming, which sees the same movies now arriving in fresh Steelbook packaging. The distinctive artwork from the earlier releases is included, and there’s brand new art on the reverse of each as well. The artwork has been designed by Matt Ferguson and Florey of Vice Press.

Like yours truly, "Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace" turns 25 this year, Anno Domini 2024. Yes, it is finally the zillennials' chance to feel old.
To commemorate this anniversary, "The Phantom Menace" will be re-released in theaters on — when else? — the weekend of Saturday, May the 4th, aka "Star Wars Day", as confirmed by Empire. This re-release is only slightly ahead of the film's exact 25th anniversary; "The Phantom Menace" went wide on May 19, 1999. Seeing (and hearing) The Duel of the Fates on the big screen is definitely where the price of admission lies here.
"The Phantom Menace" was previously re-released in theaters, with a 3D conversion, way back in 2012. This is also part of an ongoing re-release of the "Star Wars" films. Last year in 2023, for instance, "Return of the Jedi" played in theaters for its 40th anniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if "Revenge of the Sith," which...

This year marks the 40th anniversary of "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." While there have been celebrations on the big screen with a re-release of the sci-fi classic from 1983 and an incredible commemorative poster from pop culture artist Matt Ferguson, there's one little piece of merchandise that may outshine everything. Well, it's little in the grand scheme of the "Star Wars" universe, but when it comes to collectibles, it's hard to get any bigger than this.
Over at ShopDisney, Lucasfilm and Disney are releasing a life-sized plush figure of Wicket the Ewok, the adorable, fuzzy Rebel Alliance ally played by Warwick Davis. That's right, this Ewok plush figure stands just over three feet tall and weighs thirty pounds. That's as tall as a kid, and weighs as much as a toddler! "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" doesn't have many defenders. However, there are certainly some who have come to embrace the 2008 sequel directed by Steven Spielberg, not unlike how some "Star Wars" fans have come around to appreciate the prequels after they were initially lambasted. At the very least, we can thank the movie for giving us the new pop culture phrase of "nuking the fridge," which became the new version of "jumping the shark." After all, this is a moment deemed so ridiculous that the franchise redefined the phrase.
Now, even that moment gets a bit of redemption, thanks to a new poster from artist Matt Ferguson.
Not too long ago, Matt Ferguson delivered a spectacular 40th anniversary print for "Return of the Jedi," one of many great pop culture posters that he's created. Today, Bottleneck Gallery is releasing Ferguson's take on "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull...

The Infinity Saga is arguably this century’s most important cinematic achievement. From a logistical & storytelling perspective, the sheer scale of the filmmaking was unprecedented and set an example other studios have since tried to match.
Twenty-three films featuring dozens of compelling characters, a host of small screen and comic book accompaniments, a cast list most studios would die for, and a story which spanned time, space, and beyond. It is a story that fans will connect with forever.

Cool Stuff: Buy Matt Ferguson's Return Of The Jedi 40th Anniversary Poster In Honor Of Star Wars Day
May the 4th be with you! It's officially Star Wars Day, and while there are plenty of ways you can celebrate, such as buying a plethora of merchandises like Lego sets and action figures, we think the best way to honor the franchise is by expanding your collection of artwork from a galaxy far, far away.
Matt Ferguson is one of our favorite pop culture artists working today. Previously, he's given us outstanding imagery celebrating "Avengers: Infinity War," "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," "Predator," "Lord of the Rings" and much more. But he's also delivered plenty of stellar art in honor of the "Star Wars" franchise, ranging from "The Last Ledi" to the 40th anniversary of "Empire Strikes Back." Now, Ferguson is back for another "Star Wars" anniversary, this time to celebrate 40 years of "Return of the Jedi."

During a retrospective panel at Star Wars Celebration 2023 in London, Disney confirmed that "Return of the Jedi," the finale to the original "Star Wars" trilogy, will be returning to theaters for a limited run.
In the U.S., "Return of the Jedi" will play in theaters from April 28 to May 4 (aka Star Wars Day). The U.K. will enjoy a slightly shorter run from April 28 to May 1. This theatrical rerelease, which commemorates the 40th anniversary of the film's original debut, was rumored earlier this year after the Dolby website listed the film as being available in theaters in late April.
It's likely that the 1997 Special Edition of "Return of the Jedi" will be the one screened; at 2017's Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy indicated there was no intention of restoring the original theatrical cuts. In recent years the movie poster has travelled far beyond its street level attention-grabbing origins. Yet, the modern Orange/Teal action shots or Photoshop Face Mountains are perfunctory adornments to a movie’s marketing onslaught, lacking the artistry and invention of what has come before. But not all movie posters are created equally.
An iconic image, such as a shark rising to meet a swimmer above it instantly brings Spielberg’s Jaws to mind. Likewise a simple glance at the posters for Vertigo, The Man with the Golden Arm or Anatomy of a Murder tell us it is the work of Saul Bass. These posters show the power of the art and the artist. Modern masters such as Drew Struzan and Olly Moss have wildly varied styles, but both have the same aim – to get you excited about watching the film. They are works of art in their own right.

As part of the show Vice Press held a screening of The Goonies and attendees of the screening were giving a free print illustrated as a collaboration between Matt and Florey… and now, to celebrate San Diego Comic Con, Vice Press are releasing new editions of that poster art as a screen print!
The Goonies Timed Edition by Matt Ferguson X Florey will be available at Vice Press and Bottleneck Gallery from 6pm BST on Thursday 22nd July until Midnight on Sunday 25th July. The Goonies Variant Edition (only 150 prints) will be available from Vice Press at 6pm BST on July 22nd, and 1pm Est in person from Bottleneck Gallery.

Arguably one of the best shows on television right now, Killing Eve‘s third season deserves a lot more praise than it got.
“Superb, stylish, and tragically beautiful are just a few words to describe Killing Eve as a whole, though the third season of this BBC hit, in particular, was especially brilliant, despite what the many negative reviews written by cis male critics say. Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, and the rest of the cast delivered stellar performances, as usual, but it wasn’t simply the performances that tied the season together—it was also the character development throughout.”

The Disney era of Star Wars hasn’t exactly gone off without a hitch, and fans are now more disenfranchised than ever after both The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker faced huge backlash for vastly different reasons, Solo became the lowest-grossing live-action entry in the series by a wide margin, the Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney Plus was hit by a major delay, and the procession of filmmakers that sign on to tackle projects set in a galaxy far, far away only to quickly depart continues.
Fans might be up in arms at the way Kathleen Kennedy has been handling the beloved sci-fi saga, but despite their current unhappiness, the Star Wars franchise as a whole remains one of the most popular and beloved brands in history, and no amount of inferior sequels or studio interference will ever be able to change that.

The McU is done for the year – Spider-Man: Far From Home was the last release from the franchise in 2019 – but there’s still quite a bit to look forward to. After all, Phase 4 gets underway next spring and promises to bring with it a ton of exciting films – and TV shows! – that’ll help continue to flesh out and expand the franchise.
But for a while now, fans have been asking when they can expect to get a box set for the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. True, the 23 McU films released thus far are all available to purchase on Blu-ray individually, but we still haven’t seen the studio put out any sort of complete box set that bundles them all in one package. Thankfully, then, that’ll soon change.
