WWE has made more changes to their commentary teams on both Raw and Smackdown following the end of Tough Enough. The new permanent team on Raw will be Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield and Byron Saxton. The Smackdown team will be Rich Brennan, Jerry Lawler and Booker T.
One of the notable moves is Saxton replacing Booker full time on Raw. It’s an interesting choice because Booker was in the seat for most of the year and then he was a coach on Tough Enough for a few months. It was expected that Booker would get his spot back, but WWE decided to keep Saxton there full time. Saxton was on Smackdown before that, so Booker switched with him.
The announce team for pay-per-view events will likely remain Cole, Lawler and Jbl.

This week’s Smackdown followed the story from Raw of The Authority working together again. The WWE Champion Seth Rollins dominated Brock Lesnar on Raw thanks to the help of Kane, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble, who sided with Rollins after weeks of not supporting him due to his selfish attitude.
Noble paid a price for it on Raw because he suffered three broken ribs when Lesnar gave him a shoulder tackle into the barricade at ringside. On Smackdown, they mentioned his injury during the show opening promo and Rollins dedicated this week’s Smackdown to Noble. At one point Rollins even made an error saying “last night” when talking about visiting Noble in the hospital when it should have been “Monday night.”
There was a minor change on commentary this week since Jimmy Uso joined Tom Phillips and Jerry Lawler. Poor Jimmy has nothing to do since...

WWE commentary is pretty damn terrible at the moment. Or, as the WWE commentary team would put it:
(cue 20 agonising seconds of insufferable bickering and giggling)
Now this article isn’t concerned with little flaws, like Michael Cole repeatedly calling Neville’s standing shooting star presses as standing moonsaults. Or the fact that Cole thought that Newcastle was still a small mining town. Or the fact that Cole still, unbelievably, staggeringly, sports a soul patch.
Hmm, perhaps it’s time to lay off Michael Cole for a-nope

Ok. All done.
No, this article isn’t concerned with small inaccuracies, it’s focused on the deep rooted flaws at the heart of current-era WWE commentating, ones that in some cases will require major upheavals to fix.

The move of Smackdown to Thursday nights starting on January 15th means some changes to WWE’s broadcast teams. It was announced on WWE.com that both the Raw and Smackdown teams will be changing.
The new Raw announce team will be Michael Cole as the lead play by play guy with John Bradshaw Layfield and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T as the analysts. This past week, Booker filled in for Jerry Lawler and apparently management liked what they heard because they have made them the permanent team. It’s a promotion for Booker, who was doing commentary on the pre-show although he was a commentator on Smackdown a few years ago. Cole and Jbl are in the same positions they were in before.

Movie fans around the world have finally been treated to the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
An 88-second teaser was unveiled today (November 28), ahead of the December 18, 2015 release for the long-awaited sequel to Return of the Jedi.
In the hours building up to the trailer's release, fans were giddy with excitement and getting impatient. While some were celebrating Thanksgiving and Black Friday, for others, there was only one thing to be planning their day around.
Sadly, things didn't go quite to plan when the internet crashed more than when Kim Kardashian presented her bottom, while others panicked over Quicktime issues.
Thankfully, as the trailer finally started working for everyone, the reaction was generally a positive one. Below is how the majority of us dealt with Star Wars Trailer Day.

The night is dark and full of terrors but at least the people of Westeros don't have the many-headed hungering beast that cannot be sated known only in hushed tones as the 'media'. Tom Phillips of BuzzFeed imagined what it might be like if the Seven Kingdoms had all the trapping of modern day news, from magazines to websites to cable television. The results are eerily accurate. #1 - For example, the Big Three (CNN, Fox, MSNBC) would all be fighting for the latest breaking news, fact-checking be damned! And not a hint of investigative journalism into how an experience hunter could get gored while surrounded by sycophants. Photo Credit: BuzzFeed #2 - Of course Robb and Jeyne Westerling Talisa would sell their wedding photos exclusively to the highest bidder. Gotta finance the war somehow. Photo Credit: BuzzFeed #3 - Ned Stark would definitely be stunt casting during The Weather Channel sweeps week.

Sad holiday weekend news today. Peter W. Kaplan, the longtime editor of The New York Observer, has died at age 59 of cancer, The New York Times confirmed. Kaplan’s accomplishment was this: he took a salmon-colored weekly and made it a must read dissection on the glitter of Gotham power players. He injected the publication with relevance and invested his personal stamp, a love of dogged reporting on niche subjects like media, high finance and publishing, down to who sat where at lunch in Manhattan’s most important restaurants and who was getting fired in the magazine business and why. In transforming his publication into a must read, Kaplan’s tenure at The Observer reminded me of when Kurt Anderson, Graydon Carter and Tom Phillips launched Spy Magazine. They took a much more acerbic and satirical look at the subjects, but both were imprinted by the vision of editors. Kaplan...

When the Main Event was relaunched last year, reports were that Ion Television , specifically said they didn’t want it to become another Superstars. Apparently one year later, that plan has gone we have to wonder if the Wednesday night program will go the way of the dodo? Remember when they would build matches on Main Event with video packages having one featured contest? Now, it just seems like another show. If you need any illustration that this happened, check out this week’s episode from Columbus, Ohio.
We begin the night with Josh Matthews and Alex Riley at the announce desk. Riley’s arm is in a sling apparently after having shoulder surgery. I guess the Miz isn’t coming back anytime soon.

With all the over-the-top McMahon craziness from Monday night, people may gloss over the Wednesday night offering of the Main Event and Nxt. But in reality it is still without a doubt the best one-two punch of WWE produced programming all week. Especially this week as we get a double dose of crazy, sexy and cool with Divas Champion Aj Lee. Plus, we see an awesome two out of three falls match with Antonio Césaro and Sami Zayn. Let us begin with this week’s Main Event.
The show begins with a solid six man tag with the Usos and Kofi Kingston versus The Shield. Everybody was on point as both trios gave it their all. At one point, the babyfaces did an amazing triple dive on the Hounds of Justice. The match had great back-and-forth between the two sides. Kofi Kingston definitely looks the best since his return to the WWE.

Since their debut in November 2012, The Shield has definitely changed the landscape of the WWE. Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose have brought justice to the developmental system by making first impressions all the more important. However, in recent weeks, it seemed the three have taken a backseat to other storylines and showed vulnerability piling up losses. This week justice looks to be a priority again on this week’s Main Event and Nxt.
Let’s start with the first of two appearances on this weeks edition of The Main Event. The show begins with a six man tag rematch from last week’s Monday Night Raw as the Usos and Mark Henry battle The Shield. Really solid opening contest with good back and forth between the two trios. The babyfaces start off really hot dominating until the first commercial break and then it switches as the Hounds of Justice take control.

Since his debut in 2008, Sheamus has run roughshod over the WWE. The Celtic Warrior has used his overwhelming power and unmatched will and determination to get a boot up on all obstacles. However, in the last week, thanks to the wounds of The Money in the Bank the man formerly known as the Irish curse seemed to have found a blessing in a bruise giving him some much-needed vulnerability. This week’s Main Event and Nxt illustrates the two sides of the same Fella. Let’s break down the difference by recapping the Main Event first.
The Main Event began as the Irish import battled “The Real American” Jack Swagger in a really good match. Swagger did a great job working the leg creating drama in the match. Quite frankly that match is the best Jack has looked in some time. I like the psychology of this. It does wonders for Sheamus as a babyface.

Sometimes in life good and bad things come in threes. Luckily for us this week, WWE has been on the good side of things with programming and the trend continued into the Main Event and Nxt. Let’s begin with the Main Event from my old stomping ground of Dayton, Ohio and the Nutter Center.
The number three is quite prevalent at the beginning of the show. Not only is our opening the featured contest a six tag but we have the return of the three-man booth. Let me discuss that for a minute, I thought the pairing of Cody Rhodes, the Miz and in Matthews worked well together. This trio had great chemistry and gave great insight to the matches. Further showing that commentary so is important to the overall aesthetic to the product and how it’s sometimes a detriment in the wrong context.

Stage and screen actor known for his roles in The Three Musketeers and Young Winston
In 1971 the actor Simon Ward, who has died after a long illness aged 70, was plucked from virtual obscurity by the director Richard Attenborough to play Winston Churchill in the film Young Winston, supported by actors of longstanding reputation including Robert Shaw, Anne Bancroft and John Mills. After the film's release a year later, Ward found himself a star on several continents. "That was a frightening role," he recalled. "You were playing someone whom everyone had very strong feelings about. As a movie, it had the most extraordinary mixture of adventure – the fighting, riding, running up and down mountains – and some wonderful dialogue scenes shot at Shepperton."
Swashbuckling and tongue-in-cheek slapstick were added to the mix when Ward, known for his aristocratic looks and high cheekbones, was cast as the Duke of Buckingham in Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers...

Confectionary brand Allen’s has launched a new campaign intending to make more Australians smile more often with its new ‘Smile Makers’ initiative.
The campaign centres around the idea that people smile only 15 times a day on average, and Allen’s wants to encourage Australians to smile more by sharing the things they do and say to make others smile.
The ‘Smile Makers’ campaign is not to be confused with the new brand of sex toys, Smile Makers vibrators, led by the Monkey’s creative partner Micah Walker.
The first stage sees the campaign touring Australia, with activations in each of the capital cities along with ten towns across the nation during June. A character called Bravo Child is asking Australians in each town what makes them smile.

Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness has been reimagined as an opera for the first time. Tom Service meets its composer Tarik O'Regan
An opera adaptation of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness? Amazingly, it's never been done before. But 33-year-old composer Tarik O'Regan's new chamber opera, the first stage work from this brilliant British composer, was inspired by the most famous adaptation of Conrad's remarkable novella. "I had always loved Coppola's film Apocalypse Now, and in 2001 realised the movie's relationship with the book," he says in a pub over the road from the Royal Opera House, where the work will be staged. A year later, in conversation with his friend and librettist, the artist, composer, and writer Tom Phillips, O'Regan's opera was born.
It's been a nearly decade-long journey from that initial spark of inspiration to the staging of Heart of Darkness at the Linbury Studio theatre at Covent Garden this week.

Doctor Who's two-part opener has been praised by critics and viewers alike. Penned by showrunner Steven Moffat, 'The Impossible Astronaut' and 'Day of the Moon' - a tale centred around the mystery of The Silents - was given rave reviews by newspaper columnists. Metro's Tom Phillips wrote: "In between the Omg drip-drop of precisely-timed reveals, we also get another twisty-turny Who episode - although, as increasingly seems to be the house style, one where the second episode feels very different in tone from the first." Neela Debmath of The Independent, however, was less complimentary: "There was a contracted feel to 'Day of the Moon' [in comparison with 'The Impossible Astronaut'] with a lot of the story (more)...

Gaumont, Radar Pictures, and Original Media are going big with Joel Schumacher’s “Twelve.” Variety says Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, 50 Cent, Ellen Barkin and Kiefer Sutherland have signed on to star in the film based on Nick McDonnell’s novel. The book, which McDonnell wrote back in 2002 when he was just 17-years-old, is about a high school dropout who becomes a drug dealer. Things get ugly when his cousin is murdered and his best friend is accused of committing the crime. The film is expected to be ready for a winter 2010 release.
Audiences at ShoWest thought the trailer for “The Hangover” was downright hilarious and apparently Warner Brothers Pictures is expecting the film to be just as successful when it’s released June 5th because they’re already working on a sequel. According to Variety, “The Hangover” director, Tom Phillips, will write the second film with Scot Armstrong.

“Shadows Light” (2008) Ever After Media A Stephen Zimmer Film Starring Tom Phillips, Tucky Williams, Cynthia Allen, Jessica Kline Score: Technical: 20, Story: 10, Acting: 10, Overall Score: 13.3 If there’s one thing I’m really truly sick of in horror movies, beyond anything, beyond even the cheap “Saw” rip-offs and pointless torture-porn style of Eli Roth wannabes, it’s the cliché of the evil lesbian. She’s evil and pansexual so obviously she’s going to end up being not only evil but also inhuman in some form, and to be honest, it’s a stupid idea. A month before the start of contract negotiations for movie and primetime writers, WGA East president Chris Albers revealed Monday that he won't seek re-election.
A pair of TV newswriter/producers will compete to succeed Albers, who is a writer for Late Night With Conan O'Brien. They are Michael Winship, whose TV credits include a stint with PBS' Now With Bill Moyers, and Tom Phillips, who has held positions at CBS News and elsewhere.
Both are members of the WGAE Council.
"It has been a huge honor for me to serve as president of WGAE the last two years, but the commitment is simply too great to run for another term," Albers said in a letter distributed to membership Monday. "I wanted you to hear the news directly from me. Fortunately, I feel the guild will be left in extremely competent hands."
Elected almost two years ago, Albers' term at the 4,000-member guild expires Sept. 20. He was unavailable for comment on his decision because of a show taping, WGAE spokeswoman Sherry Goldman said.
On July 16, a negotiating committee representing the WGA East and WGA West will begin talks with reps of the studios and networks on a minimum basic agreement for film and TV scribes.
