If you're the kind of person who races to Rotten Tomatoes before you give a movie the time of day, then you probably think Wander isn't worth your time.
After reading this review of April Mullen's interpretation of Tim Doiron's script, you might be persuaded to give the film another chance.
Not only is the story unique, but it's brought to life by an all-star cast. When a group of actors like this assembles for a low-budget film, it's worth considering that they saw something special in the material.
Although it will be tough, I will do my best not to spoil too much of the movie here in the review.
The more you know about the story's particulars, the less likely you will be surprised by what unfolds before you. This isn't the kind of movie that you'll enjoy if you know too much.

A “Jacob’s Ladder”-ish paranoid thriller arriving just in time to find conspiracy theories plunked right in the middle of post-election American politics, “Wander” only muddies the water further. This latest collaboration between director April Mullen and writer Tim Doiron offers yet another unpredictable shift, but pushes its idiosyncrasies off a cliff before establishing any narrative terra firma.
There is some pleasure to be had in watching an atypically frenetic Aaron Eckhart as a Ptsd-afflicted loner wading deep into possibly-imagined evildoings in the Southwest, with Tommy Lee Jones and Heather Graham also welcome as two allies. Still, the film’s hyperbolic style and convoluted storytelling tend to exhaust patience rather than build intrigue, making for a muddle whose too-many twists and turns ultimately seem meaningless as well as implausible. Saban Films is releasing the Canadian co-production to American audiences via digital, on demand and available theaters Dec. 4.

Exclusive: Copper comes from Arizona, and Peaches from Georgia, but if we had to rewrite the lyrics to the Blossom Dearie standard “Rhode Island is Famous For You,” you can add film production to the latter 1,214 square mile sized state. Much of that has to do with producer Chad A. Verdi who over the last eight years has pumped out 20 features with notable homegrown titles like 2016’s Bleed for This and the upcoming Grindstone Entertainment Group/Lionsgate crime pic Vault, both which shine a spotlight on his native Rhode Island.
Vault is one of six projects that Verdi has in his 2019-2020 pipeline, which also includes Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Netflix movie The Irishman this fall. The names Tim Doiron and April Mullen should be familiar to long time readers of Quiet Earth. We've been following the exploits of this Canadian writing/directing team for some time and they've yet to steer us wrong. Sure, some of their material is more tongue-in-cheek than some might like but they've always managed to entertain yet, for their new feature, the pair seem to be moving away from the often low-brow comedy that I've come to know them for, for something a tad more serious.
88 stars Katharine Isabelle as a woman who turns up at a roadside diner with no idea who she is or how she got there and from the looks of it, with a bit of help, she is trying to find out who is responsible for her lover's death.

Cast: Devon Bostick (Casper Galloway), Martha MacIsaac (Charlotte Baker), Christopher Lloyd (Horace Galloway), Brittany Allen (Lucy Winthrop), Brandon Jay McLaren (Dazzle Darlington), Kyle Schmid (Patrick Bishop), Tim Doiron (Seth Munday)
Curiosity got the best of me for this one. After seeing it on the shelves in DVD form, I noticed that it was streaming on Netflix. “Awesome!” I thought. I can check it out without further monetary commitment, and if I like it, I can buy the DVD copy. I guess it’s kind of like calling it back after a hook up, except no one gets their feelings hurt. Even better. What I really noticed about “Dead Before Dawn” was Devon Bostick. He’s a really familiar face at my house as the completely douchy older brother in the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” films.

Director April Mullen's Dead Before Dawn 3D will debut in several Canadian theatres, for one night only! This showing takes place on Devil's Night, October 30th, 2013. Dead Before Dawn 3D is a film about Zemons: half zombie and half demons. Also, this title stars Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), Martha MacIsaac and Tim Doiron. Horror fans can preview this special cinematic presentation here. The official trailer for the film shows Casper (Bostick) and his friends in a camper and on the run from the undead. They are also in a fight against an ancient curse, which they have to unravel in 24 hours, or their entire town will be haunted by the living dead forever. Like the very creatures they celebrate, zombie comedies keep on coming. In the overlong but amusing Dead Before Dawn, a klutzy college student named Casper (Devon Bostick) drops a demon-haunted urn in an occult shop owned by his grandfather (Christopher Lloyd). Casper freaks, but his six friends instantly begin tossing out jokey rules for the demon curse. Most essentially, anyone who looks into their eyes will instantly commit suicide and transform into a half demon, half zombie—a "zemon." Soon, people begin killing themselves (it's funnier than it sounds), only to pop up moments later as zemons. Director April Mullen and screenwriter Tim Doiron, both of whom play members of Casper's posse, do their best work early on, as when an entire football field of players and studen...

When are horror movie characters going to learn that taunting evil spirits only causes trouble? For the sake of horror movies, probably never, as Dead Before Dawn 3D continues the tradition of gathering a group of non-believing high schoolers and thrusting them into a cursed scenario. At least writer Tim Doiron and director April Mullen attempted to have fun with the genre, literally making their own horror curse off the top of their head. Know what a “Zemon” is? Ever hear of a horror monster that attacks by giving you hickies? Want to see a hot cheerleader make out with the undead? No? Too bad.
